the PVR function is on Byond..i think what u mean is u want the PVR function without the HD service that will need u to pay the extra RM20..the answer is Yes u can..but u will still need to pay a monthly fee of RM10 for the recording functions..

Yesterday go to ropewalk Penang, found that they selling
AstroFirst malay movie (Ngangkung,Aku Masih Dara and Damping Malam) 3 for RM15.

I'm thinking, if they can copy AstroFirst movie this mean that the AstroFirst will not successful.
No wonder FINAS wanted to discusss with Astro management after they launching AstroFirst.

There are people who will only goes for big sceen and surround sound. Then there are people will only watch pirated DVD. Now there are people who can watch on Astro First, are young couples with babies and can't goes to cinema and don't want to watch pirated DVD.

Hello everyone,
currently I have astro b.yond that is connected to the satellite dish in the master-bed  room.
However, i just bought a new 50' tv which is located at the living room.
I am able to receive astro over there BUT d HD channels are really horrible. If i were to purchase another b.yond box, how would the process be?
Would i be charged extra every month/ is it 2 seprate accounts or what?
thanks in advance!
*

If you want to watch same channel as of you did now but with HD quality, read this thread.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1489743

But if you want to subscribe new account, you need to pay full price package. There's no 50% off promotion anymore from Astro. You need to apply new subscription. New cable will be lay from new decoder to the dish & LNB will be change with 2 output.

ok so in other words,if i installed beyond,my pic quality is better in SD programmes?
as compared to the old astro box?
*

Don't expect it will be better, SD is still SD. Best view using CRT TV.
But for me, after using byond box using HDMI connection PQ is slightly improved (it's still depend on your TV).

For your info, last year I already go to astro CS at damansara together with my decoder. But they not check my decoder at all and say this problem will fix when new firmware update is release. But after a few version firmware is release, this problem still happen.
*
Yup,

Pls reply the PM so I can forward it to them. Not sure if they will visit your place or not but I believe they would like to understand firsthand what seemed to be the problem and try to reproduce it themselves.

i was thinking to get astro beyond too. since the connection to my lcd tv would be via HDMI, i expect the PQ would be better that normal composite cables. Right now i'm using composite to my 40" sharp aquos. man.. i tell you, the PQ is not so good. haha. instead of getting a good component cable (e.g Monster).. better i upgrade to Beyond.

but, when u guys said, PQ only slightly better.. now im having a second thought.. haha

Thats a point. A cinema is a cinema, AF cannot replace the cinema to me I rather catch a movie at the cinemas ! Horror flicks are not great to watch at Cinemas either ! flex.gif

I subscribe to byond because I can get HD channels, not because to expect improvement on SD channels. If you have sports & learning packages, it's a good move. Even better if you have movie package.

yeah. for me i'm more interested to see how is NatGeo HD, History Channel HD, AXN Beyond HD, Star Movies HD, HBO HD and FX HD.

Because i have those subscribed in my Astro. For those normal SD channel, it would be slightly better quality THAN my usual composite connection that i'm having, becoz of HDMI connection from Astro B.yond.

byond box in bedroom, yet HDTV in living room, why did you separate them?

put them together in the same room and hook them up with HDMI cable, you should get good quality HD channels

1st thing that crosses my mind is, is the battery dead?

Added on January 18, 2011, 1:34 pmNow I got conflicting info. Some people said if you upgrade from SD Astro to B.yond, you do not need new dish & new wiring from dish to new decoder box. Yet Astro told me you have to change all that and I hate them having to reap out old wiring and making a mess of things. So who's right?

You didn't miss any. Still no news from Astro, maybe they also still unsure whether they will get HD source or not.
