ok,but do you think the astro box is faulty?
the installer told me that since previously using s cable, the box might jsut be faulty if using a new one or change to HD.

AFAIK, SD program on normal Astro receiver and B.yond should have same PQ.

Only HD program on B.yond receiver got better HD PQ.
*
ok so in other words,if i installed beyond,my pic quality is better in SD programmes?
as compared to the old astro box?

can i view any sample pictures taken in SD using beyond box?

thanks guys.

I subscribe to byond because I can get HD channels, not because to expect improvement on SD channels. If you have sports & learning packages, it's a good move. Even better if you have movie package.
*
Yup true.
but for me ,i usually watch tv3,ntv7,104,105,108,501,502708.201,702,703,707.
that's why me kinda picky about the quality tv programmes.
already paying RM105 + 20 beyond.

cheers.

yeah. for me i'm more interested to see how is NatGeo HD, History Channel HD, AXN Beyond HD, Star Movies HD, HBO HD and FX HD.

Because i have those subscribed in my Astro. For those normal SD channel, it would be slightly better quality THAN my usual composite connection that i'm having, becoz of HDMI connection from Astro B.yond.
*
so this means that if i use hdmi connected via tv and decoder,my picture quality would be slightly better in other SD channel?

cheers!

Magic of B.yond together with HDMI as only thru HDMI can teh upscaled image be carried to the TV.

Yup can change 720p or 1080i. go into installation settings and HD settings to change it.

hi all,

finally, astro installer came in the morning at 11.00am on Saturday.
installation took about 45minutes,with new dish and cables.Activattion took about 10 minutes;that's very fast considering the fact some of our bros here took a longer time.Installer even gave a demo and did the settings for me.
my observation for pros and cons/wish list:

the pros:
1)HD picture quality and sound is simply amazing ,very clear and superb- HBO/STARMOVIES/AXN/SPORTS/HISTORY/NATGEO
2)menu guide on tv screen quite impressive.
3)SD programmes looks much better now but of course cannot beat HD and CRT lah.
4)fast response for the remote control to the box.
5)can actually watch all SD pictures in HD on the right top screen when using menu guide although its kinda small but still watchable.
6)beyond box small and stylish.

the cons/wish list:
1) should have HD in other programmes - cinemax,tlc,diva channel,zee channel,discovery,animal planet.
2)bulky remote.noticed there are buttons for those using pvr but if take out the buttons,am sure the remote will be less smaller for those not using pvr
3)no subtitle in hbo and star movies-i guess need to get use to it.

cheers!

hi guys ! Just registered with Astro, now waiting call from their technician to come over and set it up for me ! Can't Wait!
*
u need to wait 14 working days.

1)what u can do now is just wait for the first 5 days.
2)f no calls from Astro, just call them to enquire.
they will give some shit stories,etc..
3)after 2 days and still no call, call the CS and fire them with bullets.
just say u need to go outtation,etc...
4)if still no call,again repeat no 3
5)if still no call,again repeat no 4.
6)if still no call,again repeat no 5.

ok just keep repeating until the installer call you.

as for me, registered on 10/1/2011,got the call on 18/1/2011 and got it installed on 22/1/2011.
In between that, call the CS twice, fired them left right up down and finally they called on 18/1.

believe me,dun give chance to astro.
customers comes first.

cheers!

My case? Submitted application to upgrade from Normal to B.Yond.

Waited for 3 weeks and called. Was told "no record of your application in our system" shocking.gif

That's when the firing started..........

The next day got a bill from Astro. They started charging me RM20 extra for B.yond shocking.gif shocking.gif

Called them up and they said I already have the B.yond installed rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

This time, bring out the big canon and started firing.......

Got it installed the next day.

Now you people try to beat my record whistling.gif

for the astro volume,me juz set to max(the green bar)
but i noticed that even i lower the green bar to minimun,it still give me good sound and make no difference to me.

Activation shld be instant,u shld not hv signed the invoice until reception is made avaliable, anyway call them again cos mostly in CS are morons ! doh.gif
*
bros,by right the installer will call for astro for activation.
the installer told me that the activation will be 48hrs to 2 weeks but mine got in within minutes after activating.

if not receive for the first 2 hrs, just keep calling and bugging them.
not all cs are morons lah, they also want to cari makan.
pity them its not their fault as activation is thru their system not invented by them.
probably invented by some genius engineers who studied and graduated from UITM rclxm9.gif

If you think RM 20 is way too expensive, then just unsubscribe it or don't subscribe.

No point complaining, they is no free meal in this world.

----------

Those say not everyone is rich and no money on it is rubbish, if you are poor enough then stick to your current CRT TV, even your current CRT TV is spoil, then buy another CRT TV (I believe it can save a lot for you and put in more important things which can feed you - food). Means while unsubscribe your Astro package, as if money is concern, a normal antenna Free TV channel is well enough.

HD is luxury thing and is not a must to get, it just extra for better entertainment but not important / a must have in life.

You can paid HDTV price, means you can afford that little RM 20 for HD source. If you can't, no one is forcing you upgrade to HDTV and wait for HD source FOC.

----------

If you want to an earlier bird test, sometimes extra expenses is needed. HD is not common yet for now in Malaysia or a lot of countries in the world, wait till it became common, every channel will be HD and FOC or as it suppose price. (or move to Japan now, Japan now is 100% all channel in HD and FOC).

hi...am just wondering...do most shops here still sell CRT even if one need to replaced it?
as what i know, most shops are now selling LCD/PLASMA/LED.Now the current CRT is quite limited and no reall branded like fujinon, ece, haier.

cheerio!
