Umm, any wireless device have such a risk. In YES case, it will be real painful.
You can install a free network monitor software in your pc, but if people hacked into your huddle; you can only know when you check your credit.

Don't use WEP.
Use WPA+WPA2 security and TKIP+AES encryption, this one more secure.

Based on my calculations (YTL Yes people, please correct me):

The first time you use 5GB in a month, you have to pay the full 3sen per MB, meaning, RM150. This will earn you a rebate of RM45 (being 30% of the usage, since you have exceeded 4GB)

Assuming you use 5GB for the next month, you would pay RM150 less RM45 being RM105. Since you would also once again exceed 4GB, your next rebate would also be 30% off the full RM150, being another RM45 for the subsequent month..... and so on.

Sales Assistant 2 is obviously confused or smoking something not tobacco.....

Hmm, the way the bill customer is new. So, some certain criticism is unavoidable. Once users understand the system, they know how to "enjoy" the YTL internet. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, i do not use this YES internet yet.

Based on its billing method, it does raise concern for me as i sometimes i may use about 70MB of the internet surfing only per day (no download or streaming video except for AV update and Online on windows live messenger more than 3 hours like that)

So far, other broadband services like Maxis and Digi's service is still acceptable. Initially, if YES allows to use their service by buying sim card rather than their devices, i should be using it right now.

I expect that surfing internet on YES would be nice, but currently i am not interested in looking at it since other telco suits my needs and it is worry free to use other telco's internet without the need to keep on eye on data usage to surf the internet since it should be unlimited(digi) or cut off upon using over the quota (Maxis and U mobile).

as per the modem specs, yes runs on different band and frequency compared to the usual 3g usb modem.
*do correct me if I'm wrong.

so far from my experience at lot 10, the service is quite bad. Local speed is above 10M, but international speed to US is 1-3M and lag is terrible. Yet they still dare to promote online gaming with the xbox consoles for demo.

I'm not a fan of Yes (you can check out my current issue with them on how they calculate their rebates in YTL Yes Rebates: the ugly facts ... CAVEAT EMPTOR), but in terms of the quality of their broadband service, I think they are OK. The speeds are as you said, but closer to 3M for international, which is pretty usable. As for the lag, it is mainly a wireless technology issue, and all the wireless broadbands I have tried (Izzi, Maxis, DiGi, Yes) have equally poor latency. Please don't compare with wired broadband.

For those who value mobility above gaming performance, then wireless broadband tech like Yes is a better choice.

This is especially so for those who use low volumes of data (under 3 GB) which makes Yes a good choice... once above that threshold, it becomes non-sensical (as I found out the hard way).

Local Speed? International speed?

At the end of the day, it is business for them.

Of course they should not be facing the congestion based on their billing system. Who would want to pay such a high bill while other ISP just charge a fix amount and the user does not need to worry how much they use if the package is unlimited.

I am not an online gamer, so the latency and pings does not matter for me.

The default plan will be 3sen/MB. If you use 20, their will charge another 10 for minimun usage. So basically it's RM30/month.

As for value plan, it's an add-on. If you subscribe, you account will be allocated 3.5GB to be utilized within 30 days of purchase. Finish early the usage back to 3sen/MB. And also after 30 days, if not finish also back to 3sen/MB.
