Getting a brand new desktop soon, and since the 6xxx series is coming up soon ( from what I've heard, correct me if I'm wrong). Is it still worth getting a 5850 for around ~900 bucks?

Will a procc like AMD Phenom X4 955 or perhaps an Intel Core i5 750 be able to optimally use a 6870? In other words, will the processor "bottleneck" the GPU's performance?

Bottleneck is present in every single system.

So yes, there will be bottlenecking here, but not very much smile.gif

Okay since bottlenecking is present in every single system, will an AMD Phenom X4 955 suffice or would i have to get something better, ie the i5?

Even if there is, but with those kind of performance you're getting, it is more than enough for the current games in the market. It just a figure on the benchmarking score laugh.gif

You should play every games available pretty well smile.gif Most games are very GPU dependent and thus a strong GPU would benefit you more, unless you're playing games that are processor intensive e.g Starcraft II and GTA IV.

Why on the earth you're still using CCC 9.12?
Now a day, people already using CCC 10.10. LOL!

Does ur gfx card detect both monitors when only one monitor is connected?
Did you set the resolution and refresh rate correctly for both monitors?
And, why don't you try the latest driver? It's version 10.10 now rather than 9.12. That's pretty old (~1yr ago?...LOL). tongue.gif
Anyhow, I never had any problem with hdmi+dvi dual screen mode on 5770 even with catalyst 9.1x. That's pretty weird.
