speaking of which, how do u determine when a proc/ram is bottlenecking the graphic card, hd68X0
*
Well.. you can always find that out by overclocking your processor smile.gif. If a big increase is seen, your processor is bottlenecking the whole system.

is there a chart or a program which could tell u that? overclocking seems alot of work, lol
*
Well... Overclocking is extremely easy especially with processors that have unlocked multipliers as you won't have to mess with any other thing else other than that thing.

You can always start off by increasing a mere 10MHz to the bus speed smile.gif.

U lazy people, here are the pricelist, can be found at Lowyat.net front page if you look around...not the forum, but the web-page itself btw..

About that promo 5850, that's something to grab for CF'ing...
It seems some 5870/5850 owner's including myself are pretty quite about their GC despite all these 68xx talk...but for sure the silence will be broken once 69xx is out.  laugh.gif

I wouldn't recommend getting the price list from lowyat.net as they are usually outdated and rarely updated.

Go...

why do different brand of hd6870 cost so different

arent they using the same chipset, all same reference cooler also

only sticker dif, haha
*
Well.... Depends really. They could have a different warranty length, e.g 3 vs 2 years, the distributor decided to jack up the price for a particular brand, the shop decided to do the before mentioned, and many other factors.

Just got my Sapphire hd6870 but playing COH with jagg line before that nothing wrong can anyone using 6870 help solve this problem, i might try to reinstall window later, need some input to solve this problem, any sifu can help.

Jagged lines across the screen? It may be a symptom of overheating.

Download HW-Monitor by CPU-ID and monitor the temperatures of your HD6870 smile.gif. If they seem fine, maybe your card may be a faulty unit.

Which model of 450W are you having?

And 450W supports up to a HD5850 wink.gif. Provided that the 450W is the power supply's true rating and not peak power.

Bottleneck is present in every single system.

So yes, there will be bottlenecking here, but not very much smile.gif

Okay since bottlenecking is present in every single system, will an AMD Phenom X4 955 suffice or would i have to get something better, ie the i5?
*
You should play every games available pretty well smile.gif Most games are very GPU dependent and thus a strong GPU would benefit you more, unless you're playing games that are processor intensive e.g Starcraft II and GTA IV.

Try visiting the manufacturer's website for an updated list of compatible cards hmm.gif.

There's no problem in doing so. You do not need two cards with identical coolers to CrossfireX / SLI.

hmm.gif.

You will need the card in the same series though e.g HD5800 Series.

I believe the AMD Phenom II X3 720 is a Black Edition processor, so you could always just raise the multiplier which would increase the processor's frequency and not the speed of the other components smile.gif.

Starcraft II is a pretty processor-intensive game, so the better the processor, the smoother the gameplay.

Have you tried unlocking your Phenom II X3 720?

ya, i juz notice it... i lower down 1250 memory.. n tested 1 hours+ temp at 50 only..

so actually core is more important or the memory?
*
The higher the core speed and shader, the better, the memory clock doesn't matter too much smile.gif. Just a small improvement.

That's one helluva big passive cooler there hmm.gif.

But I don't see why can't it be used in our country. As long as the chassis has a good ventilation, then we're set hmm.gif. Otherwise, the heatsink looks large enough to accommodate a 90MM or 120MM fan brows.gif.

Oh my god. I just asked Zalman Tech about a custom cooler for the HD6870, and apparently the Zalman GV1000 ( Zalman VF1000, but nickel-plated & red LED fan ) is compatible with it! It's even compatible with the HD6850.

Gosh, for RM210, it's seriously worth it. <3. Guess I will be getting myself a HD6870 very soon brows.gif.

@AlphaBeta, if you'd like to try unlocking the Phenom II X2 555 to a quad core, then go with it. It's cheaper than the X3 710, and much more worth it IMO. But if you don't, then go with the X3 710 then, otherwise, seek for a used Phenom II X4 955 BE at the garage sales which should be pretty cheap now since a new one only costs RM440.

hmm.gif.

Well. I'm not sure on how old it is, but I think it came out 2 years ago? I got it 2 years ago smile.gif

I believe it should cool a HD6870 pretty well.

Has my 9800GT idle temps at 43C and load temperature at a maximum of 64C ( fan always minimum, never used it pass minimum speed before ), at a clock rate of 760MHz Core, 1830MHz Shader and 920MHz ( 1840MHz when multiplied ( 2) ) smile.gif It's a great cooler.

I'm amazed at this cooler's compatibility brows.gif. Other Zalman products seems to have a great compatibility with new products as well.

hmm.gif. Yep, I believe he did that, as I told him to do so in the other thread in HW Q&A smile.gif
