AMD HD 6990 Sneak Peek

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/02/26/...es_sneek_peek/1

QUOTE
While we cannot reveal the specifications or framerate numbers to you today, we will say this, we are happy with what AMD has provided. The specifications are everything HardOCP had hoped for. We think gamers will be pleased with the hardware. This video card is better out-of-the-gate than the Radeon HD 5970 ever was.

I know the pages going too long already but will update it later on. wub.gif

Based on the price tag of the HD6990, I assume it'll be using two(2) Cayman XT?
imo, 2899 bucks is just too expensive. 2.2k-2.4k seems more reasonable..

I believe thats not supposed to be the final price
Should be just slightly more or less than 5970 price tag.

its not worth it guys definately its not even 2x6950s even if it is its downclocked those who want to buy a single 6990 just get 2x 6950s at rm 900x2 and unlock to 6970 and cf

those who want to cf 6990 just get 3x6950 and unlock it because cf 6990 has 4 gpus and no games use 4 gpus except metro 2033 for nvidia and fps is lower than 3 cards when u use 4 cards

same goes with gtx 590 tri sli gtx 570 is better than sli gtx 590 if gtx 560 could do tri sli then it would havee been more awesome

amd 6990 speck leaked.

hd 6990 standard edition will be clocked at 830mhz gpu core. vram at 1250 mhz. OC edition gpu core will be clocked at 880mhz, vram at 1250mhz.

average performance, 68%~110% faster than gtx 580.

if look at the slide, 6990 texture unit (2 gpu) = 192.

6970, texture unit = 96
6950 texture unit = 88
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/...d-6970-review/4

in conclusion, amd 6990 utilize two 6970 gpu clocked at 830 mhz

newer batches of 6950 has the 6970bios unlock trick fixed
still its actually more worth it to buy 2x 6950 than a single 6990 that is if assuming 6990 is going to be underclocked versions of its siblings gpus
