It's way better. Not to mention the price gap between them.

It is much more powerful than the 6970

Do consider the GTX570 as it is very close to the 6970 and is cheaper as well (that is if there are still 6950 that are capable of unlocking to 6970 specs)

im using sapphire 6850 toxic and my GPU temp around 51c if idle
if i play games for around 12 hours....temp will be around 65c

i think 70c is still normal for a video card..unless the temp go above 98c or more den is abnormal

You can try increase the fan speed but do consider the noise as well...
If you know how to re apply tim, then go ahead & make sure it does not void the warranty...
The load is normal & nice...

Anyone here using MSI HD 6870 reference card? Can do me a favour by using GPU-Z version 0.5.1 and make a print screen and post it back here.

Many thanks. smile.gif

5770 owner here. Whenever that happens to me, I do a clean reinstall. The steps I take are different from the clean reinstall I got from Google; and you can Google if you need it. Anyway, these are the steps I did.
1) Uninstall all ATI software through ATI Catalyst Install Manager
2) Restart
3) Registry clean up via CCleaner
4) Install the latest drivers.

Worked for me.
