After looking at the XPS 15 specs and pricing, I am so glad I din buy Lenovo Y460, the pricing is so close. Feels like selling my 4741G for this one.

But eugenchiu you are forgetting the specs of USA laptops and Malaysia laptops are not the same. They typically get more, and better, options, for a much lower price. And you cannot compare the mini because it costs only like, what, RM1000? How does this RM1000 compare to some laptops which cost more than RM1500 more than the one in the USA? Shipping or tax cannot even reach RM1500.

1 - if you know that US laptop does not same with Malaysia, you should know that Malaysia's after sales service for Dell is much better. do your extra reading.

1 - On what do you base this claim? In other countries, particularly USA, you can - while it's still under warranty - get your system replaced by a brand new model of equal or better function and specifications, if there is something wrong. I'm very sure that does not make USA's Dell service any lesser than the one here - if you have In-Home / On-site of course. Oh and yeah, I'm going to find tons of sites and books on how Dell MY's service totally trumps the United States'. Right.

It's just that they purposely made it so that you cannot order i5 with GT435M or i7 with GT420M, for their own reasons or whatever, and I wanted to know why - before I considered buying it.

LOL I was not "trippin" or anything. Just understandably fustrated with Dell's shortcomings. And can you blame me? What other choice of laptop can I get with graphics the level of HD 5730, No i7 quad, and not a 4kg+ Alienware? Very few, if any.

I think Acer quality has improved. Not to mention 5650 is Around the same level as the GT420/435M, but not as power hungry. But do you want good warranty service

Go get the XPS 15, it is newer, has JBL subwoofer, not many laptops at this price range has it, used to need rm4799 like the Lenovo Y560. Plus the Nvidia GT420M is totally ok for current games. It also has Optimus for longer battery life. Anodised aluminium casing. All perfect specs

For budget gamer, at rm2999, XPS 15 is really worth

Ok, yeah, since GT 420M is like GT 335M, I suppose this is an alternative to the Acer and Asus laptops below RM3000 with 14 inch screens. But then again we were expecting something equal or better to XPS 16, that is the main point.

But Dell never allow their own product to compete with each other, look at the inspirons, all low end GPU only.

lucky for me, i bought my core i5 450 + ati radeon 5730 hd for rm3217 in july, one unbeatable price if anything

i wonder if the 420gt and the 435gt is on par with the 5730 or not, the new xps looks a bit sad

Soup did you miss the part where "XPS will be replacing Studio and Studio XPS"?

And did you know Alienware has/had the same GPU as Studio XPS 16? It's not products competing against each other. The main point is to sell any and all products.

Since many will agree to an extent ATI/AMD GPU > Nvidia Geforce this was a bad mistake by Dell.
