Stephen Elop: Nokia's first MeeGo device 'will be a 2011 event'
Exclusive news for Eiraku Simply said the OS is not ready for mass consumption. The latest alpha for v1.2(this is the consumer ready version) got major kernel issue. Since the intended fund that I keep for MeeGo device is free now maybe I should look around for something else to past time... This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Oct 22 2010, 12:26 AM |

Update on leaked PR 1.3.
Full OVI Suit support is finally added. QUOTE In addition to the 100+ bug fixes, some UI elements have been updated, as well as an apparently new driver to interact with the PowerVR SGX530 GPU, here are some of the user-noticeable changes that should come with PR1.3; MicroB (browser), Modest (e-mail) and hildon-desktop (desktop UI) have been updated and will provide a much faster experience, less glitching and reduced process pegging. Universal Contact Search has improved response time for displaying results. Audio playback no longer causes abnormal high processor usage, and pause/resume playback after a call is much more predictable and works as it should. In addition, the mediaplayer widget ‘play’ button now works. Portrait mode transition is faster for all applications that support rotation. Feels “constant” and much more deliberate. Accounts being forced to error-offline during new network connection has been fixed. Several fixes to Mail for Exchange. Unknown if Google syncing has been addressed. You can now enter a lowercase letter at the beginning of a sentence. Camera and image browsing has less “chop” and stuttering. Feels much more fluid. Delay added to screen unlocking during alarm or phone call. Reduces unwanted input. |

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 22 2010, 12:25 AM) Stephen Elop: Nokia's first MeeGo device 'will be a 2011 event' Am very sad now - plus the fact that Dell just burned me with the disappointing new launch of the 2010 XPS range (crappy GC is crappy Dell). Palm burned me with the underwhelming new Pre. WP7 burned me with it's complete lack of multi-tasking. Exclusive news for Eiraku Simply said the OS is not ready for mass consumption. The latest alpha for v1.2(this is the consumer ready version) got major kernel issue. Since the intended fund that I keep for MeeGo device is free now maybe I should look around for something else to past time... Telefon Apple burned me... well, relatively, I'm actually less disappointed in the IP4 compared to most of the above. I mean, KNOWING that the Epfel comes with all the limitations that it does makes the fact that it actually comes with very little in terms of new problems very refreshing indeed (antennagate? Pfft, everyone sticks a cover on it anyway). Sigh. HOPEFULLY the N9 AND Meego is at least slightly POLISHED when it comes out later. Also because most of my android plans have been postponed indefinitely (due to small niggles like no adhoc support, amongst others), this probably means I'll just get a iPod Touch 4th gen 32GB, stick to the back of my E71, jailbreak it and tether it using bluetooth lol - what I was planning to do if my N900 got repaired anyway. But really Nokia, Dell, Palm and Microsoft. Thanks to all of you I'm gonna end 2010 in despair. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Oct 22 2010, 01:16 AM |

QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Oct 21 2010, 11:04 PM) The noise is called image noise, not the sound; Try take picture in low light and set the ISO to highest, you will notice the picture got many 'noise', like dot-dot-dot, it makes the picture look 'not nice'; Some processing tries to reduce the noise at the expense of detail, which you will see it blurs/smoothens the picture loosing details. QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Oct 21 2010, 11:04 PM) Wow! Bentley; SIFU, mana you pigi?QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Oct 21 2010, 11:09 PM) Actually take photo with flash is not nice, unnatural, especially with built-in flash. Normally, when we take photo, we try to take "natural" look or WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get). To do this, you can play with aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. For objects that doesn't move, you can set the shutter speed as slow as possible (provided you have super steady hands or use a tripod), with this, you can even take super dark photo and look like in bright room. For moving objects, you need fast shutter speed, so you will need to use higher ISO; This part, usually you will need DSLR range to achieve little or no noise, it will help with a very low aperture lens like f1.4/f..18 (to allow more light to be captured) Basically, for FCam, you will see the first option "Exposure"; Try force the ISO to 100 (by selecting manual and moving the bar to the most LEFT, you will see the ISO is now 100). By forcing it to 100, the picture quality will be very good with little or no noise. If you're in a dark room, you will see your Exposure will automatically set to "1s" (1 Second), which I think it's the slowest available. This means, when you press the camera button, you have to hold the camera super steady for 1 second. You can try play around in low light room, rest your N900 on something steady and press the camera button, you will see the picture still look nice (provided no shake). If you have seen those pictures where the lights got "lining", it's because of the shutter speed. Have you seen those picture people use lightstick write on air and the picture come out with the words? QUOTE(jananan @ Oct 21 2010, 11:10 PM) congrats new grandmaster super_evil_alien heading n900 v7 thread... MONO speaker aspire, my friend bought the N8 just now... the ring vloume... cant hear a thing in a busy restaurant... Not good not good; Imagine your ringtone sounded and people thought what "cheap" phone you carry... Or... when you show your friend some videos, they might ask you, why the sound like that one? My 6600 was having MONO speaker, really struggles around THAT MONO speaker, during that time, many people switch over to SE phones due to poor speaker/sound from Nokia; After that, it changes, Nokia starts coming out with Stereo speaker and prioritize audio in their device. Now, not sure what happen... although can use headset, but.... should at least provide a decent speaker... we can't upgrade, so hardware is very important to provide. Non-removeable (or hard to remove) battery, also not good not good... Got hang problem, troublesome, most people prefer the good old remove battery way. People who carry additional battery, can forget it now. QUOTE(bratvalove @ Oct 21 2010, 11:20 PM) anybody ever upload photo to FB via n900 ? i mean by directly sharing it like flickr. Can, you need to install the plugin for sharing to Facebook. I think its in OVI Store.i try to do it few time but failed, cant even share. Added on October 21, 2010, 11:20 pm awesome ! After that is 1 year warranty. If it's Nokia it; it's Original; AP is still original, just a different country set. Authorised = Malaysian set. Just like you can buy Sony Playstation from console shop, which can be other country model, warranty from the shop itself. This is AP products. If you buy from Sony Malaysia or you choose to buy Malaysian set, you get warranty by Sony Malaysia. NON-ORIGINAL = FAKE, IMMITATION (e.g. NokLa) |
