Stephen Elop: Nokia's first MeeGo device 'will be a 2011 event'

Exclusive news for Eiraku
Simply said the OS is not ready for mass consumption. The latest alpha for v1.2(this is the consumer ready version) got major kernel issue.

Since the intended fund that I keep for MeeGo device is free now maybe I should look around for something else to past time...

Am very sad now - plus the fact that Dell just burned me with the disappointing new launch of the 2010 XPS range (crappy GC is crappy Dell). Palm burned me with the underwhelming new Pre. WP7 burned me with it's complete lack of multi-tasking.

Telefon Apple burned me... well, relatively, I'm actually less disappointed in the IP4 compared to most of the above. I mean, KNOWING that the Epfel comes with all the limitations that it does makes the fact that it actually comes with very little in terms of new problems very refreshing indeed (antennagate? Pfft, everyone sticks a cover on it anyway).

Sigh. HOPEFULLY the N9 AND Meego is at least slightly POLISHED when it comes out later.

Also because most of my android plans have been postponed indefinitely (due to small niggles like no adhoc support, amongst others), this probably means I'll just get a iPod Touch 4th gen 32GB, stick to the back of my E71, jailbreak it and tether it using bluetooth lol - what I was planning to do if my N900 got repaired anyway.

But really Nokia, Dell, Palm and Microsoft. Thanks to all of you I'm gonna end 2010 in despair.

Any game that can be ported to ARM SDL can be played, THEORETICALLY. Computer games that can be played on the N900 include:

1) Descent
2) OpenTTD
3) Baldur's Gate/BG2/Icewind Dale or any BG based game (GemBG)
4) Jagged Alliance 2 (the ONLY smartphone to run this wonderful game - and yes I've checked)
5) Dune II (but it's an old game so...)
5) All sorts of id Software games (Quake 1-3, Doom, Hexen, Heretic)

The list goes on... There was even talk of porting Homeworld (yes, the space RTS) onto the N900, but last I checked it was kinda stalled.

Long story short, as long as an ARM SDL version of your computer game exists, you can play it on the N900. But whether or not it plays nicely with the touch screen is a different story.

Yeah.. as long as the game requires two thumbs at once, it fails sad.gif
And i dont think is java..is it?
I have these steps in mind

1. Get the source code
2. Hildonize it (still gotta look through it)
3. Build and compile for n900

I'm planning to do this for GmobileXT
The garmin application used in 5800..
Send me a pm if you have the app

I don't think the source for GXT is available anywhere - not to mention the whole process would be beyond illegal (which is really less of a problem compared to getting the source for GXT).

It's a closed source app lar.
