You can call up all the NCC Centre and check; If not check with Nokia Malaysia directly, ask them to look into your case. Under warranty, if they cannot fix within certain period, they should honour your a replacement; If not also at least provide you a spare phone for your to you since it take so long.

My previous experience with my iPod Touch support was great; My iPod Touch accelerometer 'kong', just around 2 month like that, send in, they identify the problem, file in warranty claims; No hassle for me. They say usually it will take around 2 weeks. Not long after, I received email on my status, and also the follow up status. Basically, I got a replacement unit within 2 weeks.
From what I read, if the unit cannot be fixed within certain period, they will replace another unit to the owner. Then the unit will be fixed and than be given to other customers whose unit also have delay issue. Not sure how true.

In the Ranger program, I have put in the comment, the support is very important; No matter how great a product, it's useless if the support is poor.
Last time, when NCC was together with Nokia Shop, I feel it was better. Not so much trouble, checking/sending in for repair is more easy and faster. Now like expand bigger, but more levels, more complicated, become more trouble and hassle to the consumer.


NCC 1 Utama is the branch for AmCorp Mall; They're Mobile Technic, Authorised Care Centre for Nokia. Subang one is another company, KL one another company... I asked the lady about official Nokia Care Centre, seems there is none? All are authorized centre only...


Most probably; If you want to try, when you OC in low voltage or ideal, etc. try playing videos with mplayer (which utilizes the processor), or play flash games, etc. You might experience the reboot problem is your processor couldn't take it. So you can know the limit.

You can get all the NCC contacts from Nokia Website, try to email/contact Nokia Malaysia as well and highlight to them this issue.

Nowadays, too many levels, not good, if the lower level is not helping the customer, the top people wouldn't know, and many on the lower levels just doing their job, if lucky you might meet those that are passionate and serious about their job andwill try to help you out, but might have another problem is he/she has no power in his position, then he/she can only help you out to a certain extemd.

The noise is called image noise, not the sound; Try take picture in low light and set the ISO to highest, you will notice the picture got many 'noise', like dot-dot-dot, it makes the picture look 'not nice'; Some processing tries to reduce the noise at the expense of detail, which you will see it blurs/smoothens the picture loosing details.

Actually take photo with flash is not nice, unnatural, especially with built-in flash.
Normally, when we take photo, we try to take "natural" look or WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get). To do this, you can play with aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
For objects that doesn't move, you can set the shutter speed as slow as possible (provided you have super steady hands or use a tripod), with this, you can even take super dark photo and look like in bright room.
For moving objects, you need fast shutter speed, so you will need to use higher ISO; This part, usually you will need DSLR range to achieve little or no noise, it will help with a very low aperture lens like f1.4/f..18 (to allow more light to be captured)

Basically, for FCam, you will see the first option "Exposure"; Try force the ISO to 100 (by selecting manual and moving the bar to the most LEFT, you will see the ISO is now 100). By forcing it to 100, the picture quality will be very good with little or no noise. If you're in a dark room, you will see your Exposure will automatically set to "1s" (1 Second), which I think it's the slowest available. This means, when you press the camera button, you have to hold the camera super steady for 1 second.
You can try play around in low light room, rest your N900 on something steady and press the camera button, you will see the picture still look nice (provided no shake).

If you have seen those pictures where the lights got "lining", it's because of the shutter speed. Have you seen those picture people use lightstick write on air and the picture come out with the words?


MONO speaker
Not good not good; Imagine your ringtone sounded and people thought what "cheap" phone you carry...
Or... when you show your friend some videos, they might ask you, why the sound like that one?
My 6600 was having MONO speaker, really struggles around THAT MONO speaker, during that time, many people switch over to SE phones due to poor speaker/sound from Nokia; After that, it changes, Nokia starts coming out with Stereo speaker and prioritize audio in their device.
Now, not sure what happen... although can use headset, but.... should at least provide a decent speaker... we can't upgrade, so hardware is very important to provide.

Non-removeable (or hard to remove) battery, also not good not good...
Got hang problem, troublesome, most people prefer the good old remove battery way.
People who carry additional battery, can forget it now.

.vbs is a Visual Basic Script file, you can use notepad to open and see the codes. It can contain malicious or harmful codes, it can also be used to remove virus entries, etc.

Don't double click it as it will execute the script.

To Upgrade Or Not To Upgrade...

Racing games doesn't really need multi-touch, as long as the accelerometer is working properly, lol

Last time my iPod Touch accelerometer got stuck, lmao, hardware failure. Luckily Apple support is good, hassle free claims and within 2 weeks I got a new replacement unit since I think they can't fix it within the period.

Could it be due to fresh install? Have you restore and download all the apps you have previously?

Flashing you don't have to worry all those, or you can use Nokia Software Updater to do it.


Basically, backup your data and settings, and you're good to go. If you want to maintain your apps, then only OTA update, but OTA update "can" be risky and I'm not sure it you can use OTA as meLi encounter error message when try to update via OTA, I suppose there is some conflicts with some apps? With OTA, you're just updating instead of install fresh, so there may be some issues especially if you have install certain apps that maybe cause conflict.

Anyway, for flashing, everything you can get back through restoring the backup, the apps will be listed for you to choose to re-download and re-install.

I don't think it should be in the app store; Apple has restrictions on video types, and we cannot transfer files as we like to iOS devices. So, if in App Store, I don't see the reason.

Funny they release for iOS when it's the most usless to release on iOS as it's harder to manage files there, harder to transfer files, etc. Release on ANY smartphone is better than iOS.

Check if your N900 successfully obtained IP Address (you can know easily if you have IP widget)
If not you can check from X-Term
sudo gainroot
ifconfig

Check under wlan0, make sure there is value for "inet addr"


If there is, it could be your DNS not obtain properly. DNS is the one that let you resolve those names instead of IP Address. I'm not sure how to check in X-Terminal, but for Windows, we can check via the Connection Properties or using ipconfig /all.
You can edit your connection manually in N900 and manually set the DNS. If you're using normal Streamyx, the DNS is:
202.188.0.133
202.188.1.5

2. If yes to (1), then probably it's the DNS problem, you can set you connection manually. The DNS, you can check from your PC connected and able to surf. Check from the connection properties.
