well, if ur friend is noob, (like me when i first started) those photographer people keep telling me fullframe is good, i tot fullframe is those medium format camera big big... i doubt ur friend will even get poison with D3s, or the price... he knows nothing he wont know the diff from the camera... his mind will be very blank.

A33 vs D3100, surely D3100 will win with the OVF, so much brighter, bigger grip.... unless u are very well prep with A33 knowledge like....

i. fast LV (although its already fulltime LV) capturing speed.
ii. face detection in EVF, like ironman HUD (*edit, and in LV mode too, and smile detection)
iii. it can see few more stop in darkness vs human eye.... mean u cant see in the dark, the camera might able to pick up something
iv. if u shoot under daylight, u cant review photo on the lcd... but EVF can~~
v. the fast AF video... but dont say till soooo FAST, because the mind will keep expecting super speed, dont... just say, its faster then any other camera.
vi. 7fps with AF... (although its pretty much, unused in ur photography journey)
vii. cheaper F58 <poison hard this)
Viii. Alpha cheaper lenses < very important too)

not forget to mention HDR photo, and pana sweep mode...

eddybeh : oh naisss... i oso going get external hdd tomorrow, sent for servicing few weeks ago and haven't got any news bout it. haih

ieR : haha sorry . i like the a33/a55 for the extra functions like sweep pano, auto hdr , AF video with any sony A mount lenses. just hoping sony ctr would be nice enuff to let me play with few lenses (please be G and SSMs =)

erm does nikon fix/upgraded the d3100 to be able to AF with no motor lens (50mm 1.8 , etc).. will ask nikon thread bout this
ok found out that d3100 cant AF on lenses like 50mm 1.8

mastering: D3100 do not have built in motor, it still requires AF-S lens to work. else its full MF only.

its just auto focus silent (AF-S) the S never mean its high speed or low speed, but their 70-200 F2.8 is AF-S also but highspeed, while thier 18-105 is AF-S but normal motor.

eddy: no no, its not waccom, i was kidding, that thing cost more then A850 la... its just a LCD that can turn 90degree~~~~ it has USB hub built in, so i connect the smaller waccom to it, the keyboard also got hub built in, i connect the mouse to it

silent wave motor is nikon..used mostly on nikkor lenses..

canon one is USM..ultra sonic motor...used mostly on white Ls..

sony is SSM..super sonic motor..

Hi everybody,

Can you guys recommend me some good quality portrait lenses of focal length:
1) 60mm,
2) 70mm or
3) 16-60mm zoom
must be at least f2.8, price rm1-1.5k (possible?)

Sony or other makes also can. I plan to use it with A55 (haven't bought yet).
