QUOTE(8tvt @ Oct 25 2010, 09:55 PM) you cannot use this as a general guide. if you don't pixel peep, or blow up your pictures, even f3.5 or f4 can be used. still acceptable sharpness.but why do people decrease their aperture to f10, f16, f22? simply said, it is to extend your shutter speed/exposure time WITHOUT over exposing your picture due to long exposure. if you are shooting in the dark. if shooting in the day, same theory applies also. the main point of is to control your exposure. so if you find that f22 might diffract your picture, try to shoot using a ND filter and use f16 or f18 instead. my noob 2 cents This post has been edited by zstan: Oct 25 2010, 11:46 PM |

If i were you, i will go for option 2. The combination is more versatile. You get your zoom and a good potrait lens (50mm) Well just my humble opinion though.

ahpingko: Nice #2! gjtan: You mean !HDR meaning it failed to do a HDR? It is because of handshake. hazril: Which camera? The A550 had this; light from the red LED shows on the viewfinder. |

Wow you guys are quick lol!
THanks thanks...I am still deciding...cause I travel a lot so a single lens solution might be better. Anyone using the SAL 16-105mm here? |

![]() Picture of my boss.... ![]() I kinda like this picture as it looks as if its oversea with the Caucasian girl feeding the swan. All C&C are most welcome. Added on October 26, 2010, 12:37 am QUOTE(NIckLJF @ Oct 26 2010, 12:32 AM) Wow you guys are quick lol! I used to have this lens and i took it to my travel to HK. Its a nice versatile lense with great range and good iq. But for potrait, 50mm is better. It really depends on what you really need. THanks thanks...I am still deciding...cause I travel a lot so a single lens solution might be better. Anyone using the SAL 16-105mm here? If you think changing lens is a hassle then by all means go for 16-105. Its a great lense. But if you wanna venture into potrait, then 50mm is a better choice. Just my 2cents. QUOTE(8tvt @ Oct 25 2010, 09:55 PM) Why are you shooting at F22 in the first place? If you're putting your camera on a tripod for slow shutter, you should turn off your Steady Shot as it will not work well on slow shutter; and on a tripod... you don't need Steady Shot at all.and like zstan, ieR says. F22 will cause diffraction but that doesn't mean you should not use this figure at all, it depends on what you trying to take. achew: Your shots are "bokehlicious" as always! QUOTE(NIckLJF @ Oct 26 2010, 12:32 AM) Wow you guys are quick lol! I have SAL 16-105mm. Good for your day to day normal usage. The zoom range should be sufficient without having to carry multiple lens. I m sort of lazy to change and want to minimize dust going into sensor compartment.THanks thanks...I am still deciding...cause I travel a lot so a single lens solution might be better. Anyone using the SAL 16-105mm here? |
