hahaha u still hv lots to learn. for default start up, sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst (it's L, not 1), in tat file, u'll see a line with default (a number), now in that file look for your ubuntu's arrangement, if it's the 1st 1 means 0. e.g. default 0

press tab n it will list down whats in the folder, or tab for it to auto select file name that is most likely to your request. e.g. when u type /bo *press tab* it become /boot, hope u get the idea, experiment with it if u dont get the idea.
*
it wouldn't work since the default 0 in that is already ubuntu but I found the solution already. A worth noting for newbies who installed their ubuntus within windows. To change the default OS, you must log into windows, go to start>control panel>system>advanced>startup and recovery and changed the default OS there.

i have this really annoying problem...
my keyboard is disabled whenever the linux in booted up..i was able to choose options on the boot menu from a live CD, but after booting into ubuntu(i tried kubuntu, ubuntu and ubuntu studio, all version 8.10), i cannot use my keyboard anymore..obviously it's cause by driver issue, but i don have any solution to solve it...

can any ubuntu pro help me out here?? really miss all the compiz effects..haizz

erm, how should i explain this...it's that whenever i run the live CD, or when i install ubuntu studio using the alternative DVD, my keyboard cannot use at all, suspecting it's the lack of driver support on linux platform, since benQ is not a hot brand over there

you can... I'm using celcom broadband, my k800i as the modem... just connect the phone to pc using usb cable

the OS will automatically do da connection for you... no need to manually install drivers or do difficult settings thumbup.gif

i don think so, cos i tried on Ubuntu 8.10, kubuntu 8.10 and ubuntu studio alternative 8.10..
all have the same problem, at the main option screen(where you have the choice to choose to load live CD, install or boot from HDD), the keyboard is still working, but after booting into the OS itself(installation or live CD), the keyboard is disabled

This might be a kernel regression..
Try pass this two kernel parameter when you are in grub:
i8042.nomux i8042.noloop

Has anyone here successfully setup CUPS? I'm having a problem to have CUPS (installed using apt-get) running with the latest Gutenprint 5.2.2 drivers (installed from source). I just can't see the latest PPD files for selection in CUPS when modifying a printer.
