Eh bro,The bridge there speed limit is 80kmph . its perfectly fine for right lane to go at 80kmph as they follow speed limit. You trying to incite us to get caught for speeding ?
*
Who teach you drive at 'speed limit' on 3rd/right lane which is the Overtakign Lane and claim it's your right to do so? It's known as the overtaking lane for a reason, if another is going faster then you move to the middle lane. I cannot tahan those fella hogging the right lane at 80kmh when the whoel road is empty infront of them vmad.gif

Then because you were overtaking at 30-40kmph over the speed limit and cause an accident is ok la as long your overtaking? When kena saman for driving over speed limit at fast lane you tell police that you overtaking, See they take your reasoning or not

An extra 40kmph isnt going to make your travel time much faster especially in city driving condition and these 3 people paid with their lives for "faster" travelling

i am not advocating speeding. please go back to driving school. you obviously failed.

always give way to the faster car, especially when you are at the rightmost lane. kena saman is the one overtakings' problem...not for you to decide. the moment you hog the right lane, you are a road idiot. you played a part in aggravating people to cut thru the left lane. fullstop.

EDIT: I bold the part for those who have problem understanding. That's the traffic rule on dual lane (or more) roads. Just because you are above speed limit, doesn't mean you can stay there as long as you like. Give way. Don't understand, then google / dictionary it.

I'm sure we experience being on the right lane with car high-beaming you while the left/middle lane is full and there is absolutely no way to give way except to hog the right lane. Would you still say i am a road hogger in that situation?

Malaysian drivers in general need anger management and patience class. Its not our choice to hog the right lane if the other lanes are full with speed abiding driver

By the way,i dont think there is any law prohibiting lane hogging, Someone should advocate it to parliment. I have my fair share of lane hoggers

are you a penangite? A few penangites just told you, penang drivers like to hog the rightmost lane when the middle and left lane are empty. If you don't know the situation we face everyday on the bridge, please keep yr comment to yourself.

penangites know exactly what i am talking about.

Yes, eventhough i'm from ipoh but i always notice this when driving in penang tongue.gif .....These idiotic drivers endanger other people who are forced to overtake from the left.

There is.

My driver 'kena' b4. He's driving a 'throttled' lorry (fuel pump was locked at an extent the smoke would pass Puspakom inspection).
Max the lorry can go is 75km/h.
When he wanted to overtake a fully loaded 10-wheeler, the fella driving the V10 Turbo wouldn't give way & press hard.

There's a patrol car not far behind, my driver was stopped and penalised for "Memandu perlahan di lorong kanan".

Note: The right lane is an overtaking lane. The center lane is for cruising. Many thought that by sticking to the max speed limit, they are free to stay on the right lane as long as they wish. And thanks to them, it's sometimes faster to drive on the left lane cos there's no traffic.

hmm... Will it help if it had VSC/ESC and 4 wheel ABS/EBD (with rear disc brake)?
p/s: [off-topic] Nissan didn't bother to put VSC/ESC even in hi-spec Sylphy.

nah , the driver lost control already

no offence taken. i am a penangite but i do not drive like them. infact, i always try to hi beam them hoggers 1st, and overtaking from the left as my last option. being an experianced driver, we always check our left mirror for motorcyclist before changing lane. (even checking blindspots, because penangite motorcylist have a tendency to hide there)

sad to say but inexperianced driver will get agitated and then switch without looking. that's also very dangerous.

note: that's why i said, lane hoggers played a part in accidents like this. others might be wrong for driving recklessly, but if you are hogging the lane with your 81km/h that makes you plain brainless. to me, brainless is just as fatal as reckless. reckless drivers might be wrong for not doing/thinking right, but being brainless you are infact not thinking at all.

ya.. not all. but most of them. when i was in penang also experience very dangerous driving style..
there's one car simply come out from junction without stopping and give way to main road users.. its very close.. lucky not hit him.. and im not generalize, but notice lots of this kind of idiot driver in penang especially motorcycle.. thumbup.gif

the right lane hoggers above (in my example) dont care one.. after numerous hi beam and horn. they just can ignore. i notice they know that i want to overtake them coz can see they're looking at the mirror.. hmmmm
still cant understand why they can and still behave like that.

But they seem to give much more respect and leeway to you if your driving a really big car. Something like a naza ria instead of a small car.

Btw,i was at penang 2 months back for a business trip. First thing i saw after paying toll is a dead body on a junction doh.gif

Driving above speed limit is wrong. But road hogging is also wrong (and irritate others too). Just give way if the car following you is faster.

Pardon them on this.

The tempo in Penang is not as fast in KL. And perhaps the only road where one can drive fast on Penang Island is the coastal road stretch fr Macallum St to Queensbay Mall. Even then the speed limit is only 80km/h & 70km/h after The View.

Yes, the bikes & small roads on the island make it extra challenging. However, if u can master the skill of driving safely while maintaining efficiency, u're gonna be fine everywhere else. Drivers in Penang generally can park their cars really well. Not like in KL, where plenty of 'awek & makcik, lenglui & aunty' can't park a Kancil properly.

First of all,my condolences to the victims who passed on.

Back to lane hogging, yes I like to speed on the highway. Yes, I sometimes drive above the speed limit on the highway. But what happens if there is another faster car than me, behind me? I have to give way alright, no question, whether I'm going 130 or 140 or even 160 km/h. If he's faster than me, I'll give him way.

Let's not be selfish. I also hate it when people do not give me way. What gives me the right to do something back to other people when I myself hate it? Ask yourselves lane hoggers. You curse and cuss when people do not give you way, but when its your turn to give, you act BODOH only. Come on.

Well, my parents always told me on the road. No use being "kuai lan". It troubles your own self in the end.

There's another stretch where Penangites can drive fast. Its the long and wide stretch from Tanjung Bungah Hotel all the way to Sunrise Tower. Don't bother mentioning the ridiculous amount of traffic lights plaguing that particular stretch as red lights do not mean anything to those with an itchy right foot.

Motorcyclists in Penang are crazy. No helmets and doing zig-zags all the time at high speed. Some even casually talk to each other while HOGGING both lanes.

i agree the outer most lane on a multi-lane highway is for overtaking...
but it does not give you the right to drive over the speed limit...

i'm always on the left or center lane when i'm cruising on the highway...
i'll go out to outer most right lane to overtake... all the while within the speed limit...
bear in mind when i do this... i make sure the overtaking lane is clear of traffic...
i'll then return to the left lane when i'm done...

if some speeding idiot happens to catch up at my rear while i'm overtaking...
they should be slowing down to allow me to complete my overtaking...
they can then continue with their unlawful speeding when i return back to the left lane...
