Try remove kies and download the latest copy and reinstall. It happened once to me.

Yes, i had the same problem. But, it didn't happen all the times. This happened in my previous version but just updated to the new version and have not had such problem yet.

Try juiceDefender and it helps to improve my battery life to 24 hrs. With the latest firmware (DXJM4), I realized that it solved the gallery wakeup issue that improves the battery life even more

Yes, this is "normal". I read somewhere that it is done intentionally as if the screen is on landscape mode, it is easier to use the swipe feature than big keyboard. If you only like to type by pressing on each key, then change the input method to normal keyboard

Firmware update: use Samsung Kies, safest
Batt Drain: Good luck, i have been fighting this issue since I got the device 2 months ago. But the latest firmware seems to improve a lot. Also, try JuiceDefender, that helps to manage WiFi and data connection effectively to reduce unnecessary power consumption.
You can only charge effectively by using the supplied AC adapter. The PC USB does not have sufficient "current"/amps to charge the device quickly.
already uninstalled and reinstalled kies. still does not work. can''t update to jpe. Added on January 2, 2011, 11:52 pm
