YES true but nowadays rooting and unrooting is just a simple 1-2 second process. So root your device and have more alternatives. If you want to sent in for any warranty claims, just unroot it. Android platform is very different from Windows Mobile or iPhone where the unrooting is more complicate. Rooting and unrooting will UNLIKELY can brick your Android phone.

Even without rooting, there is still a lot of free apps to keep me entertain everyday. When better/faster custom roms available, I will definitely root my device.

just got my SGT 2 days ago, my firmware is JJ2 is that the latest? or do i need to upgrade to latest firmware which is what version now? any views? i try to use wifi to connect to my laptop wireless running as ah-hoc but my SGT cannot see the wifi connection, i can connect via the my laptop thru ad-hoc on my iphone4 though ( so my laptop setup i believe is ok..... anyone can help?

Guys,just wanna ask if you experience a problem where the 3g or edge data connection just lost without any reason and can't be re-connected unless restart the Tab?
I think I've seen this issue mentioned somewhere in the thread but couldn't find it back.

Need a quick check. I have got my galaxy tab for more than a month and my battery can only last me 4 hours continuous gaming. Is this normal or something wrong with my device ? Battery log shows majority or almost 70% coming from the display but my display was set at 10% only. I hav e even install juicedefender but I don't think that it last longer.

Any advice ?

New user here a new sgt user for one week. Bought from maxis sc.

So far the tab has been great and replace most of my casual computing needs. Able to watch some live soccer games on it amid some lagging of flash loading. And another thing is 3g coverage and signal still need improvement. The battery life still acceptable and drains quite badly especially for gaming.
The form factor is great and light compare to ipad. And i love android. The rooting is so handy.

I tried few tablets before decide on sgt. And owned a android tablet from china and also using ipad. The tab is certainly mich mich better than any other android tablets on the market rite now.

Anyone bought a AP SGT set? Any problems with firmware upgrade on an AP set? Cheers

Android can't do adhoc like iphone..u need to root and add script to support that or u can install connectivity on ur laptop ..

For an expensive gadget like Tab, I wouldn't risked getting problem with after sales service/ warranty for a couple of hundreds ringgit. Besides, the promotion done by Telco (especially Digi) is really not bad.

i just got my tab for rm2399 ori set.. according to the shop, it got 1 yr samsung waranty and extra 3 yrs shop waranty.. quite a good deal i considered.. and till 31 dec.. i was lucky enuff to grab one on the last day right before the shop close at night lol..

i got one q, before i update the firmware, the swype keyboard is full screen when landscape mode.. but after i update the firmware, it become only 1/4 of the size only.. issit normal? not quite used to it as the key become so small..especially if i wan type some words which cant find in dictionary

AFAIK, usb connection will not charge the Tab. Need to use the AC charger.

BTW, just rooted my Tab (because got nothing to do)...

Try remove kies and download the latest copy and reinstall. It happened once to me.

Batt Drain: Good luck, i have been fighting this issue since I got the device 2 months ago. But the latest firmware seems to improve a lot. Also, try JuiceDefender, that helps to manage WiFi and data connection effectively to reduce unnecessary power consumption.

You can only charge effectively by using the supplied AC adapter. The PC USB does not have sufficient "current"/amps to charge the device quickly.

Application/games are up to individual preference. In fact, the standard apps that comes installed in the SGT, are more than sufficient for video/ebook/document/mp3/browser. Anyway, the market is filled with free apps/games for you to try.

As for battery, it depends on what you have activated eg. background/info/widget update, 3g/wifi, gps, live wallpaper, phone, etc.

Types of games also affects battery life (NFS vs angry birds). Maybe due to more power for processing.
