It might be interference between some other devices or your neighbors' access point. Try to do some changes on wireless channel.

Generally wi-fi is a bit slower.

U can check in the router settings - i used to have v slow wi-fi on laptop til i change the settings on my Dlink

i think u can google it - i changed the Advanced Wireless to short preamble, and to 802.11.g ONLY mode.

then its back to business as usual.

Check the net for any further fixes.

LOL how i wish to work for TM, free phone calls & free internet...
I am just a customer like you. I call the unifi customer service to enquire & they told me it is available in Nov for Setiawangsa. If it is ready earlier they will call to inform.

try to change the wifi mode to b/g only instead of b/g/n. by default it's in b/g/n mode. With my old lappy which support only wifi b/g i have no problem. I just bought a new laptop which support b/g/n mode, naturally it will connect to dir 615 with n mode. i notice very slow speedtest...youtube buffering (which i've not seen before) erratic download speed etc ...took me several days to figure out.

after changing it works as it should....at least for me....cheers

Mr. Oreomambo,

Talking about beefing flex.gif up the router firewall rules; I used some of these;
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Protecting_your_customers

After applying these rules, the downloading of torrent files from famous sites were a little harder, only magnet linking works fine. Anything u might want recommend to filter?

regards
J

Don't forget to beef up the router with firewall rules, but don't implement all rules in one go. Test out your connections after the rules. You'll be surprised with the amount of crap we are getting from internet. Set firewall rules to "drop" them.

If you're behind NAT you're already considered pretty safe. Just block traffic from the WAN side for any services on your router (web UI, ssh, etc.) along with RFC1918 (private subnet) source IP traffic from the Internet. Normally for Linux firewall setups I go with a whitelisting setup rather than blacklisting. Allowing related + established TCP and UDP connections along with ICMP echo replies, everything else is blocked.

Guys, how troublesome it is to setup this unifi?

I'm planning for the VIP5 but looking as how complicated it is, I plan to go for the 4MB package instead though its RM9 difference.

Any advice?

Go for UniFi VIP5, u can cut your fixed line and save RM30 or so, plus you get free fixed line call and IPTV. It is really not that complicated.
