Update: WMPowerUser astutely points out that Smarthouse may have just grabbed that "6HTHD7XM" codename from the purported O2 spreadsheet and mixed in the specs from the NAK mockup, which were incidentally making the rounds as legitimate as recently as early July. We'll obviously know one way or the other come the 15th.

Huh? iOS was never a competition with Windows Mobile from the beginning. I can't say about WP7 though, looks like Microsoft screwed that one up big time.

hmm what I'm trying to say is that, the long awaiting WP7 must not fail with their mobile OS, or else iOS will 'conquer' the market very soon.

Sorry, I got one liao at a cheaper price. biggrin.gif

I'm saving now to buy a WP7 IF it is good. Otherwise, WM6.1 may be only best PDA OS. Yup, it's unbeatable.

Already launch in UK lo. But short of supply. Supposedly launch in Malaysia yesterday, but no news until now. Something to do with HTC delaying shipment and fixing some hardware problem.

I am not sure. But I think HD7 it's quite big and heavy for me. ANd yes the kaki sticking out doesn't appeal me. I prefer the other models.

i have a question about this maxis package. it says that for the 1.5GB is rm68/month, and there are somethings about the value plus plans say the first 1, monthly commitment fee is rm30. so does it mean that we have to pay rm68+rm30 for every month?

If you're going to get a HD7, do remember to check out my Windows Phone 7 User FAQ for some essential information regarding how you should deal with what Live ID to associate with the phone.

GREAT piece of information and effort you have done. I must say all potential WP7 buyers should read before deciding to invest in WP7

Yeah, that and accidentally locking your Live ID in a different country and having problems buying stuff next time.

i have a question about this maxis package. it says that for the 1.5GB is rm68/month, and there are somethings about the value plus plans say the first 1, monthly commitment fee is rm30. so does it mean that we have to pay rm68+rm30 for every month?
*
correct, except there is no RM30 plan. the cheapest voice plan is the Value Plus 50.

So, if you take that together with the 1.5GB data plan, its RM50 + RM68. smile.gif

Added on November 25, 2010, 1:02 pmi got my hd7 from maxis last night. am loving it so far. it's everything i expected and a bit more.

anyone else got from maxis here?

I got my HD7 today. At first I was not so sure about the decision because I owned a HD2 before. But upon first power up, it is apparent that the S-LCD display is waay better than the HD2 display.

Still fiddling here and there with the functions, but already loving it bit by bit. I just hope that Malaysia will be included in the Zune/Marketplace/XboxLive list soon (until then can only download free apps and cannot buy the paid ones because of Credit Card recognition)

The country for marketplace is determined by your billing account country and not the phones.

Its something Xbox live users should be familiar with

I'm sure you guys have heard the battery conditioning tip before, run it close to death and recharge for a few times and see how it is after a few rounds.

Before that... get more micro USB cables to charge in the office and in the car.

It's a common smartphone battery issue.. I haven't found any smartphone that can last more than a day with heavy usage. In my experience, iPhone 3GS has the worst battery. 1500mAh capacity is insufficient. but 2000mAh battery is too big. You have to live with that. The only few things you can do are turning the auto-brightness (if it has that function) and set the brightness to the lowest. turn off HSDPA connection, use 3G instead. turn off wifi etc

Unfortunately WP7 doesn't have a MAXIMUM brightness for auto brightness unlike the iOS. It has auto brightness, but it switches between 0 ~ 100% so doesn't help much if you're always in bright areas.

As mentioned by most ppl, smartphones use more power. I myself nearly killed my phone by watching too much Halo Waypoint videos on 3G yesterday. Just make it a habit of keeping it plugged in when you can by buying more cables to connect your phone (remember, only USB Micro cable will do) and also.. car chargers (Try and get something that's meant for the iPad, those usually put out 2A of current its possible to charge faster)

Not sure if you have discussed/reported on this issue. the level of ringtones sounds / notification in HD7. i think it's too low/soft for me, even i jacked up the volume to max. if I compared it with iPhone4, even the default SMS sound it louder. not sure if this software or hardware side. anyone, exp. this behaviour?

I think ATM still no apps that can track your data usage. Its better to sign a data plan.
Btw, I'm using hd7 to post and I'm pretty impressed the keyboard respond is really accurate.

Yes, so does Iphone, samsung, blackberry, and practically everyone else making smartphones on the planet. In HD7's case, it wasn't actually documented that you entirely dropped calls when you grip the bottom part (where the antenna is located). Most evidence seems to come from a single youtube video. Most non pro-iphone or pro-android site noticed that straight away, of course pro sites just adds it to the list of why you shouldn't buy WP7.

What differs everyone else from Apple's very own Iphone, and why antennagate was so very prominent on that platform was sometimes it took just one finger to short the antenna (Finger of Death?).

Even then, as an Iphone 4 user, factor in the universally problematic reception faced by Americans from their services, since I never had any antennagate issue from teh Iphone 4 (Using Celcom).

Yes, Massive update coming up for Windows Phone 7. It makes sense because Microsoft knowingly released the current batch of WP7 with so many limitations which they already plan to update via Zune/Marketplace and I am absolutely positive this will change the WP7 phone experience quite a lot smile.gif

Not only are there free apps, if the paid app has a trial available you'll see both a TRY and a BUY button at the bottom, we can also download trial mode without CC

Can't comment much on the battery area, personally I just keep all these smartphones plugged in whenever possible.

As for Chevron, its already been pulled. It should be safe but MS did give the usual do it on your own risk warning.

It's saying that unlocking or phone will cause to the voiding of the warranty, but we can always reset our phone when the warranty is needed, can't we? And is this unlocking only for customizing the ringtone or we can actually sideload the third party apps?

I hate to say it out but seriously, I'm quite regretting buying this phone...lack of apps and not attracting at all... the functions on the phone are so much worse compared to the other smartphones say the iphone4 and even BlackBerry...i mean how could a smartphone doesn't have multitask, I'm so tired of keep on loading back the apps that i was using when i accidentally press the home button...no custom ringtone, not even turn to turn GPS navigation...and the Facebook, it's so laggy and not complete I'd say...and no instant chatting apps like whatsapp...i wish I had gone for iphone4...i'm certainly not a fan of any smartphones, in fact this is my first ever smartphone, should have done some researches before i go for it...

yjackh : if you can, give it until February cause the 1st update is coming in January supposedly n there might be some goodies in there. To enable turn by turn on maps check out my FAQ, though its only a little help. And the lag u see in the Facebook app could very well be contributed by the slow disk speeds of the hd7.

Kikokiko : performance wise, try n compare between hd7 n LG first. For some nagging issues that u might want to be aware of before buying. Check my FAQ .

the missing functions of this device are actually quite irritating and disappointing, for example we can't send our contact through sms right, or maybe there is a way that i didn't find out...same basic functions like i mentioned no custom ringtone and the volume which even a normal phone can make it...i can't comment much about the apps coz it's a new os, i believe there will be more apps developed as time goes by...what i am trying to say is, this device doesn't worth it's price, i won't make any complaints if it was cheaper... if you were to spend this much i'd suggest you to go for iphone4 which is actually slightly cheaper and much better...but nothing i can do though, since i've bought it, i'll expect something impressive on the upgrade next year...

Wait a bit more for January 2011 for the first major WP7 update. I am hoping for significant updates to address the missing features

although some of the important feature are not there i bet we all still happy rite? M$ is BIG BOSS so nothing to worry bout the update i believe.
and yes, HD7 audio is really soft just like Diamond 1st gen, you wont be able to hear any call if in the crowd area, hope the massive update can improve this audio level. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif even the capalang brand can ring louder than HD7. sweat.gif

I think the problem about ringing being soft is because the tones themselves are too soft and not the speaker.

im not so sure about that, because i did sync 1 of avi video using Zune to HD7 and the other avi video on my HD2 but both playback with different audio level , HD2 max volume became cracking while HD7 max 30 still soft. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif ??

maybe i should try the custom ringtone things to see hows its goes.

Well. I guess depends on the speaker. On my LG if I played Rocket Riot at max volume it rocks the room. And... at full volume when I use the keyboard in the throne room... the echo hurts my ears. tongue.gif

i have to agree with you guys regarding the hd7 speaker... it's very tiny sounding... i can barely hear the phone in my pocket most of the time. this is a problem exclusive to the hd7 / htc and not the OS i believe. the nexus one also has a very weak speaker

*
ppl will be willing to buy your phone for a good price if your unit is in good condition...

1. if u hit home button u can go back to app by using the back button....
2. MSN IM is there ub the marketplace, more apps will be on the way..
3. Ringtone can be loaded with Chaveron app...
4. i use dedicated GPS as the smartphones are slow all of them...
5. facebook is not laggy.... Maxis data connection is not very good, i bought my HD7 from SG and changed my plan to Digi and its very fast...

and if u are new smartphone user how can u complain, i have been using Windos Mobile since it was called Pocket PC... WP7 is the smoothest OS ever, and so idot proof that i was shocked to see.. Home screen and Apps and u hold on the app to pin or uninstall...

i set up my domain email on hte HD7 and most of the settings were taken care off, it just downloads the mails and do not delete them on the server... smart... WM6.5 will delete by default..

my suggestion is to give a break to this OS and u will love it...

My recommendation if you need to use Messenger is to use the mobile web version. http://mim.live.com instead of the app. Cause I heard nothing but bad things about the app.

Chinsc I think you should look in the Garage sales forum and see, I remember my friend with a HD7 mentioning that they're selling them Invisible Shield analogs there.

alternative pouch u can consider like this.

user posted image

alternative pouch can give u a small space for you to keep your micro usb cable or handsfree.

user posted image

for spare or extra micro usb cable. the below can easily obtian at ALL IT Hyper Market for RM28

but if you think RM28 is not worth it. you might wanna consider the below which still can get at the same place but saved u at least RM10

hie guys
im using HD7
so far i'd say i i prefer this wp7 interface compared to ip4 n android .
and it seems like its cleaner and user friendly compared to those 2 .

we cannot blame wp7 for lack of apps and features .
its only been around 2 months since it first came out .

heard that january update would update a few features including copy paste .

i do hope they support multitasking after this and also custom ringtone .

btw, anyone have any idea which apps to use for custom ringtone ? i heard its available but not sure which apps .

oh, and where can i get anti fingerprint + anti glare screen protector for this hd7 ?

oh.... i do not face tho problem as normally i dont lock the screen when want to msn. about notification work much better after last week update.

those short one too short. i have too much extended USB cable. so making use of it. at home i have 2 of those cable... a charger, a car charger, 1 at office. 1 at bag and the ori one still inside box. tongue.gif

transfering files to phone without go thru Zune are so much more easier. cut and paste.

no i mean d messenger by winoya(forgot d exact name) has the recipient name across d screen at the above part inside a bar .
that thing is blocking me from viewing the previous msg .
its not located exactly at top. its located like 3/4 to 7/8 of the screen at the top part .

so i can see part of the previous msg but that name is blocking .

the msg itself has the recipient name and also at top of the screen got tabs for current chats

so its a redundant and annoying

hope that the future update will remove d bar so it looks cleaner and better

One thing you can do is quickly tap the buttons multiple times, it will cause it to jump in bigger chunks.

So far been great for me . Of cos its lacking features but llets just wait for d january update .

Read in wiki said this upcoming update will provide these features:-
- Multitasking
- Cut, copy & paste
- Adobe flash 10.1

not many 3rd party apps bcos microsoft doesnt allow developers to access the APIs .

Im hoping they make updates for custom ringtone, file manager, more choice of themes ie8 with html5 support .
It gets too long when many apps pinned to start screen .

Hopefully can get ebuddy, whatsapps, ym and jailbreak for it .

So far 1 disappointment is htc getting low wifi signal strength .

Any other thoughts guys ? Share it

Not so good compared to ip4 n android i guessb. It sucks a lot of battery . If enable gps + data, it last arnd 6 hours . Off them and u get arnd 18 hours ( havent really test it ) .

I guess its normal among all smartphone . U shud at least get a car kit charger . Its wat most smartphone owner do

microsoft is desperate on getting back in smartphone market .

im sure they'll do great updates later on .

this OS been in the market for less than 2 months .

give it a break .

no OS is great when it was first released . it applied to iOS and also android .

but this january update will be very pleasing i guess .
this big updates includes important features ^^,

anyway, i got 1 weird question, when we sync our contact from sim card, it doesnt state is it inside d fon or sim .

and when we add a new contact, where will it be placed ?

Well. U can't complain much on the battery life tho. With 4.3inches and 1230mAh capacity.

Their voice recognizer works great. Anyone tried? Thought of keeping my wm6.5.x just for the GPS and WiFi route. But time goes by and seems the bing map get it work four me very well. As for WiFi router. I don't need one basically this phone can do what I needed from a computer.

yes, i was wondering too why no wifi router? how to share with my laptop? but then with 3G coverage im on DIGI can get turbo and the browser can load faster than Desire HD. now i use my HD7 to browse the net even in the wash room i could do all the net transactions ..etc no need laptop. downside is the Battery drain very fast.

Indeed considering it is the first release , but I was thinking that with the missing features, it should be more cheaper, it's almost like the most expensive smartphone in our country...hope the massive updates will be really massive lol

Maybe some free alarm app at market place will solve ya problem. Alarm in wm6.5.x also problem. Well. I off most of my connection like live syn, Zune syn, location syn, Xbox syn and set my data to EDGE. It can last me for 1 day use from 8am till 7pm with 30min call. 100 SMS, 2-3 hrs net surfing and email checking plus 1 hrs of move. biggrin.gif

Wat is push function in MSN and Facebook? U can get your latest social account link with more than 50 social network in PEOPLE. its just a finger touch. U can get all the update of those social network.

Gtalk currently only with with web. Ebuddy or meebo will help too.

WP7 supports push notifications, with limitations. I don't recall what they are though. Check out pocketnow for more details.

It's like if I log out from ebuddy or meebo, my online status will still active at background so that my friend can send me messages and I will get notice by an SMS alert.

I also have register my Facebook and xbox live, gmail account and hotmail. But the way of 'people' looks a lot deferent compare to the apps that I have been use in my iPhone and blackberry.. I just Donno how to chat with my friend list.

Hem... Maybe need to use it as my main phone so that I can have full concentration on my new hd7 and learn more from
It. Ha ha..

Anyway, bad English... I hope what I'm trying to say here is easy to be understand. smile.gif

My daily life cannot escape from msn, gtalk, Whatsapp and email. Mostly due to my business and customer services.

charging with usb cable connect to your laptop no need to install zune, zune is for sync photos/videos/songs.
atm, i dont think there is a data monitor application for WP7. suggest you subscribe to data unlimited, because without Data on your WP7? your phone will become more useless.

If your phone isnt charging when you're connected while USB, try using another port. Sometimes some USB ports dont have enough juice.

you can only flash it to respective region a.f.a.i.k. since mine is T-Mobile ver...i flash it back to TMUS ROM. you'll encounter error if you try to flash it with ROM from other region, for now anyway.

Some of the more interesting things have been sealed off for now. So it's not to say the system is completely useless as a developement platform right now.

If the article is accurate, aug/sept 2011 is a long time to wait for that 'mango' update. Is mango just for the html5 and silverlight support or will it also have more?

In any case, my concern is really more about other pressing features like multitasking, flash, copy & paste, etc. Will it come in Jan/Feb or later in the year?

For me, those features add more value to WP7 rather than html5 or silverlight. To be honest, has html5 gone mainstream yet? Is everyone using html5?

At the end of the day, the most prevalent standard on the web today is still flash. As a user, I want convenience. i dont want something that is cool/future-proof, but i can't use it much yet.

the best u can try is ebay. something like this simple and protect will cost u less than RM20 but the problem is u have to wait 2 weeks.

http://cgi.ebay.com.my/HTC-HD7-Windows-7-B...=item255f83ca04

After using aluminium cases once, I must say.. DONT!

Causes signal strength to dip a little overall, and seems to wreck havoc on GPS tracking.

there's a youtube released by HTC whereby allow you to watch Hi-Res youtube.

try to connect to market place with your device not your desktop/laptop and search for "youtube" in APP.

love it man...

I tried their silicon case this morning and it fit nicely. No problem with the button just have to press harder a bit. Over for this kind of price. Worth it.

all shiny/glossy .
i dont really like shiny cause after awhile got so many residue from hands and finger prints everywhere .
i prefer the matte one .

don't get so excited yet. The custom rom 'hack' is just a proof of concept for now. You can only switch to the roms of other hd7s like from the US or Europe. Furthermore this only works with hd7. Still got some way to go before anyone breaks wp7 wide open.

I have used my Xbox live account (SG account) when I set up my HD7 and included a Malaysian credit card into it. Can I make purchases on the Marketplace using my Malaysian credit card? Anyone tried it before?

Furthermore, what is the currency for the prices on Marketplace? SGD or USD?

i've manage to hack allowing to view the storage contents with some registry edit. no need to use zune sync.
Registry Hack Enables Mass Storage
with this hack we can now simply transfer file in between pc and wp.

yes, TomXAP Installer but need WP Dev Tool in order to run the installer.

I got the mass storage too. Just that the xap files transfer in. Can the phone see the xap and run it?

Wat I understand os use the Tom installer and attach the cap in the installer and install from Tom. Right?

Cant simply transfer the xap file using mass storage method WP wont be able to regconize the file i've been trying to do so , now i've manage to install TouchXplorer on my WP.

My Tom Installer failed to load, so i use Windows Phone 7 Developer SDK to deploy the (TouchXplorer).xap application to my WP.

1. Download this Windows Phone 7 Developer SDK Tools installation took me 1hours 300MB download from web then complete the installations.

2. use the application deployment tools and locate the XAP Files, its work just like the custom ringtone methods.

user posted image

3. make sure your WP and Zune is connected , then hit the Deploy button.

4. Thats all.

Yo. bought HD7 from Maxis last night.

Overall:
1) Copy-and-Paste: Not an issue for me. i dont use it.

2) Custom Ringtones: This is my concern as I like to play around with ringtones. Hopefully they will update it or maybe some ringtones apps in future will help.

3) Bluetooth file transfer: Not a big concern but its quite annoying when you really need to transfer music.

4) Marketplace: Does not support in Malaysia yet due to Credit Card issue. seriously, why dont they consider PayPal as alternative solution?

5) Ringtones too soft: This is a big issue for me. Hope they have a workaround or something.

Problem faced:
1) Ringtones doesnt silent when Alarm is activated. When i receive incoming calls, it on vibrates. + the volume is very very soft on the other end. after soft reset, everything went smooth. will see if it happen tomorrow morning.

Etc:
Any recommended Games/apps?

Pricing vary . But i recommend u get brightstar set caus it has 2 years full warranty . Some other company will only cover lcd for 6 months .

Price wise will be a bit expensive . Maybe 2.3-2.4k

I'll just chime in with what I can.

3: Love the microSD support; hate that it can’t be removed/replaced
It's a form of DRM. Some of the slots aren't even supposed to be user accessible.

4: Love the column style layout; hate that it doesn’t extend to all of the apps
It's up to the app developer how they make their apps behave, how can this be a fault of the platform?

7: Love the responsiveness of the interface; hate the time it takes to load some apps
Seriously.. check out an LG Optimus 7 before you make the slow loading remark. You'll be blown away by the speed difference between it and the HD7

its just B*#@$*$@... if you dont like what MS has offered then there are only 2 options wait for the updates or buy ANDROID...

on one hand this guy says he likes that the WP7 do not look like iPhone as android do look like iphone, and in the point 6 he wants 3 tiles in a coloum... those ppl dont know what they want anyway, and nothing will be good enough i think..

i am loving my HD7 as the rest of the other HD7 owners on this forum.... and on XDA there are more happy HD7 users and for sure there will be ppl who dont have a WP7 and not even tried it and they are saying it DO NOT WORK...

that ROM editor only allow you to read but not edit the ROM. you can read and understand.

there's no harm of reading the ROM as a knowledge and it will no bring any harm to you phone as long as you do not edit and upload it to your phone

that ROMUpdateUtility.exe is executable thru your desktop/laptop after you go into bootloader mode and usb cable is connected. its almost the same like HD2 ROM flashing method.

Do you own an HTC HD7? Fed up with the measly 8GB memory? XDA forum member Wolfman017 has posted a tutorial on how to upgrade to a generous 32GB!

Not for the unsteady of hand, you’ll need a SanDisk MicroSD 32 GB Card – note Class 2 only as the Class 4 cards are not compatible. Also note that Kingston or other brands are also not compatible. You’ll also need a Torx screwdriver size 0.4, a little plastic card, some tweezers, a piece of paper, and of course your HTC HD7.

The battery and bottom cover of your device will need to be removed in order to gain access to the microSD card reader. Some careful use of the tweezers and you should be able to replace the microSD with the new 32GB.

Finally, a hard reset is necessary for your device to recognise it’s new storage space.

For full details including photos, head on over to the modification thread.

Unless you use your phone as a pendrive, I believe 16GB is more than enough. After all, if you did store moview/series in your HD7, yu can only watch it for like 4 hours. I did the battery test :-)

Note that if you copy your video files through Zune it's pretty certain that it'll reencode the video to WMV, unless it has some very specific parameters which I am not sure of.

see here for details.

Hmm.. have you uploaded any videos to the phone through zune yet? if you haven't then just grab a wmv (or make one using windows live movie maker or something) and drop it through zune, then see if the folder is there or not.

well, 1st of all, i prefer wp7 interface compared to others .
the smoothness is very good compared to android .
i've tried Desire HD using android 2.2 froyo and its lag despite the phone high spec .

the update is not here yet and we all waiting for it .
basically, using the customized ring tone will void d warranty but i think its reversible when use touchExplorer apps where u can delete the custom ringtone .

and also, the phone can be locked again after it is unlocked using the chevronWP7 .

come on join us on wp7 side !
there's just too many android user and iFags out there .

I was a iPhone user (3G, 4G) for two years + and eventually I bought HD7 yesterday. Same with almost everyone here, UI is cutting edge and smooth, not typical X * Y icon grid. I love the color combination and ya, especially the font, and layout of the applications, it sexy and so unique compare to others. Multitasking is not a major issue for me because even IPhone has multitasking capability, it still a basic one, and somehow I think it's crap because not many applications in app store supporting it.

And yeah, Zune is equally hard to use compare to iTune, for a first time user, so I think it still OK. I still can bear with the absence of cut-copy-paste and internet tethering because I believe Microsoft will include this in future. Battery, well I guess I have no complaint because I was well-trained with IPhone, you just need to charge it everyday.

however, I have few problems that need to solve immediately:

1. Sync with outlook contact and calendar. There is no straight forward way after I google. I don't know why I need to tie with my Live ID in order to do so.
2. No chinese display language, I wish there will be language pack or something in future.
3. Buy apps, though throughout the whole thread people said can register a SG XBOX Live account and use Malaysia credit card, I haven't try yet but will definitely try.

Overall, I think this phone is cool and YEAH, there are too many iPhone and Android users out there, try something new rclxm9.gif And I can use Visual Studio 2010 to develop some apps and test on it. smile.gif

:/ HTC HD7 or Mozart 7? So hard to choose!

I have to pick either HD7 or Mozart 7 before Chinese New Year. I am going to get it from Maxis.
I went Maxis Center there ask those looney toon~ Got some answer but nt all... D:

What i know is

HTC HD7
+AWESOME kickstand.
+Nice bigger 4.3 screen.
+16GB!

HTC Mozart 7
+Better camera.
+Smaller in size.
+Lighter in weight.

So I wonder if you guys know there's any pros or cons between this 2... like... slower performance or something? shakehead.gif

Mozart is said to have better battery life, and is the best WP7 phone to date. The design is well thought and the camera & graphics are very sharp. However, its internal memory is smaller although is said to be expandable, and its slower on EDGE.

If u ask me, ill get mozart as you wont actually need the kickstand, or the big screen. how often do u watch movies on ur phne anyway?

Agreed. You never would be happy if you getting smaller screen size than HD7. I switch from HD2 to HD7 with the same reason. HD7 is still the best choice till today.

I'm a HD7 usr... I like the Mozart style and grip. Very solid and taking photos is a breeze. One prob with HD7 is the ability to take photos. It's not easy....

Screen is big, but you end up running out of juice less than 8 hours if you are a heavy user. If the battery last longer, and the camera is not so hard to operate, I'd easily recommend HD7.

when you try to snap a photo... you have to press the button extra hard, or you have to press it at a certain way/place. if not, your phtos will be blur. I usually have to take 2-3 shots to get a proper photo. this is a huge problem if you are still very new to the phone, but im guessing if you get use to it.. it will not bug you that much.

its different from the mozart which you feel like you are using a digicam. a simple press, and you have your clear stunning photo...new users will also be able to take ur photo easily as its just a simple press.

No difference. They are the same. Just that HD7 has bigger size yet the resolution are the same thus 1 pixel in HD7 is larger than Mozart 7 and so making HD7 less sharper.

sad to say, WhatsApps will not be available for WP7 anytime soon.

=====
"WP7 is missing core address book integration APIs that our application requires" - WhatsApp Inc. CEO Jan Koum

"The app (WhatsApp) constantly scans your local address book and compares the phone numbers within to its massive list of users. When someone in your address book has WhatsApp installed on his or her phone, an entry will automatically be added to your WhatsApp contact list. Because Windows Phone 7 does not give apps a way to access and scan the address book, this key functionality would be impossible on the platform"
=====

Imagine WhatsApps is integrated into People hub. You will have Outlook contacts, Windows Live contacts, Facebook contacts & WhatsApps contacts. abit too much i think

Just upgraded from a HD2 to the htc HD7 7.
First impressions were excellent and I agree with the review - smooth, slick, great integration of information souces (FB etc.) and great syncing of Hotmail, Calendar etc.
htc HD7 is a nice looking and easy to use handset.
My frustrations are:
Lack of cut / paste - couldnt forward an email today as I didnt want to forward it all.
Automatically loaded ALL my hotmail contact into phone - I dont want 700+ contacts in my phone. No way of limiting it.
HD2 uses Windows Mobile 6.5, using MyPhone to backup phone. Cant restore contacts to new WM7 phone. Cant Bluetooth them. Wont receive them as emails. Cant sync with Outlook. Cant store them on a SIM card as many ofthem are too big. So, no way of deleting contacts fro phone without deleting from Hotmail. No way (at present but being looked into by Samsung according to a call recently) of moving my 200+ contacts from HD2 to a WM7 phone.
No multi-tasking - shame on you Microsoft.
No tethering.

about multi tasking. try open a website and put in an address and let it start loading. right after it start loading. press home button and go do something else. after 1min. go back to ie. u will see ie finish loading up the page.

now try on a fruit company phone. their browser will stop load the page immediate u press home button. after a min go in their browser again. u have to press refresh to load again.

so now tell me. wat is multitasking.

Main problem is because our Live ID happens to hold our IM contacts as well, all the phones are doing this now. Apple with their cloud service, Google with GMail integration. Yes, it sucks that ours it's a horrid mess because unlike with apple or google. IM lists tend to have more people we don't really care about.

Activesync from HD2 to Outlook, then use Outlook Hotmail Connector to copy contacts to the LiveID linked to your phone.

yes. agree with maraudez. linking IM, social network contact and ya phone contact bring me headache sometimes. maybe some are duplicated entry and u can link them up. but that will take u sometimes and u might not save the same contact name.

its a mess at my contact list before this and I have reset my phone 3 time to split it out.

now my contact only left call and others contact like IM and social network are not joining with phone contact. it lead my contact clean and presentable where I wanted it to be.

i can't install cab file. its announced earlier by MS that no WM6.5.* cab or ealier support on wp7. dont you read
can't adjust volume. what do u mean by cant adjust volume? there's a volume + and - at the side of the phone
can't change profile like nokia. what profile u wanna change? just switch off the volume by pressing - key till max
can't connect with my computer to save or transfer file. there's zune allow you to transfer media files. for other files u can use the registry change to save it in
do not know how to make mp3 as my ringtone. there's way to sideload it
cant update contact u can sync ya contact to ya live account
facebook ,gmail ,and all my contact friendlist just go into contact in hd7 which is very annoying.well. i just split my contacts all out from IM and facebook. now my contact only a pure phonebook contact.
sound are very slow. does not have volume adjust. what do u mean sound very slow?
camera stand crome paint easy peel off. that depand how u protect it
camera button is hard to take picture. have to press half focus and press full to take pic. all camera pre focus by half press the camera button. include DSLR too.
can't use touch screen to take a picture unlike my hd2.although picture quality is good compare to hd2.

I think it is better you sell off your HD7. WP7 is new and it takes time to mature. Just like iPhone when it first came out. Then again, iOS4 is still not quite there yet.

Better go back to WM6. I have no regrets moving from WM6 to iOS to WP7. Agreed, there are many things still not there but it is already a very stable and useable OS from Microsoft.

volume that i want to make it loud is ringtone volume and sms notification volume.. too soft and slow,
there is no setting to adjust it and make it loud.

and zune to make my phone connected to computer just to transfer picture? thats is too much.
why microsoft just not upgrade w6.5 instead of make a new platform but using same name which is window.

i thought w7 is upgrade from w6.5.
thats no time to read survey before buy ,since its clear ly name window 7.

just like android 1.5 then 2.0 then 2,2 then 2.3 bla bla. and off coz new os can support the old one

Hi bro. Sorry to say that, u should check the phone b4 buying. I myself knew that it doesn't support custom ringtones but I have the confident that it will be deployed 1 day. Self research is the key to own desired phone. My advice is, u should get rid of the phone since it doesn't satisfied ur requirement.

I have full confidence in WP7 and that it will mature like Apple iOS4, but HD7's battery is killing me.

Full charge at 630am... normal use with twitting and texting, and it only lasted til 3pm only. If you are on the move, a charger or a back up battery is a must with this phone. Now seeking other windows phone from HTC to replace the HD7. Most probly will sell my HD7 =(

You're refereing to transferring files between phones locally right? I guess it's important for some people. I'm not one of those ppl though.

Answers are much appreciated. Thank you in advance. smile.gif

don't blame the phone or OS when it is clearly your fault for not trying out the phone or doing your homework prior to purchasing. There are tons of reviews and information out there already outlining what WP7 can do and cannot do. In your case, there are also tons of info on how it is different from WinMo 6.5.

you have no one else to blame but yourself. but at least you managed to sell it off already. good luck with your future purchase.

you can connect your WP7 phone to a computer via a usb cable, but you need to install Zune to transfer music, videos or photos onto your WP7 phone. It's really just drag and drop once you've installed Zune.

Doesn't work for me either :/ Using Hotlink on my Mozart 7.

Funny thing is... it work sometime but rarely... I can see the EasyMenu (*100#) long after it wrote "Failed". No idea why... I going to bring this to maxis center...

Skydrive is a storage service on the 'cloud' by Microsoft like a 'drive in the sky'. lol. Basically its like your hard disk on the Internet where you can store stuff on it and also allow people to download from it. Because its on the cloud, you can upload stuff or access it via your phone or PC, just as long as you are logged in to the service.

You can share your pics this way from your WP7 phone through the SHARE option.

Hi. can sum1 help me clarify this.
i jus got my HD7 back from RMA last week due to corrupt software(they say lah). the problem keep coming back even after hard reset. since its still within 2 weeks period from purchse date they replaced me with a new phone.

today i connected it to my comp n its says htc hd7 PD29100 not T9292 which was my last phone model no. is it a new model?

and my bing maps cannot search one. my last phone got 3 round (arrow, bullseye, search) on bottom but my new phone only got 2 round (bulleye, search). fyi the search button will open normal bing search NOT bing map search.

Dont know about the model number thing, but your map one is caused by the fact that the region setting is not one of the supported countries anymore.

Set phone region (Settings -> Region & language) , you'll see a whole bunch of lists with countries in them, I think just changing system locale, and browser search to US or UK would do. But change everything just to be sure. tongue.gif you'll need to restart the phone after changing it.

I think it's best you learn how and where the phone stores data backup on your own(if any, depending on what service you use) Don't trust support for anything you didn't personally setup. ie. Did you actually setup any sort of backup service? Contacts are synched only if you were retrieving it from a Windows Live account, or a compatible exchange sync supported service like GMail or Mobile Me .etc. etc.

yup, kena before a few times. its a known bug. if you let the alarm ring until it goes off by itself, sometimes the audio will be turned off after that. your next alarm, calls or sms will be silent.

hope microsoft fixes this in the next update which should be around the corner.
