i have used the service before, but forgot exactly what is the process.

anyway it is same as normal service, just during you submit the form, remember to tell you need a priority service (pay extra of course)

At the visa centre, they'll ask you if you want to opt for the priority service. You pay in cash then and there

Currently in Malaysia, flying back on the 21st. As for rice cooker, I bought a rice cooker with my flatmates, so it was cheaper than buying one on your own. Most people I know there tend to just buy the rice cooker either from Amazon or Asda nod.gif

As for other electronics, computer parts and phones tend to be cheaper in Malaysia so if you're planning on getting those, better do it now. biggrin.gif

Buy some perencah if you're into traditional foods. The local chinese store stocks on some malaysian brand items like kicap manis ayam (the green/red colour ones HAHA) as well as some adabi kari ayam. But they usually won't have anything like asam pedas or kurma (there is kurma in UK but it's not the same.) HAHA

I bought this rice cooker http://www.amazon.co.uk/Russell-Hobbs-1975...rds=rice+cooker for GBP30 last year, so it's a deal now. thumbup.gif

PS I'm sure you can get good rice cookers in Malaysia as well. As for it being bulky, I can't go into it that much because I personally brought my desktop tower+monitor to UK (paid extra rm200+ to add on a luggage, gamer at heart so it's much much cheaper than shipping it to the UK sweat.gif )

I just got back from VFS recently. True that it's barely an interview. They just asked for your name & DOB and that's it.

oh dear, oh dear.. you all these newbies, don't try to save a some money and go and rent the private accommodation. yes, the uni accommodation is expensive but it's safe for you guys. Try stay in the uni accommodation for the first year and then 2nd and 3rd year start to check the details for the private accommodation with ppl you know. Because you guys don't familiar with how cheeky the ang moh over here.

And my advice to you all the newbies, don't ship so many stuff to here. waste the money and probably (will or will not) the stuff you ship over here collecting dust. wait till you guys come over here, see what you need and then only plan.. over here you can get a lot of stuff from online or place like wilkinson.

private accommodation is the best. its like staying in a condo apartment. uni accommodation is crap because you cannot choose your neighbours. they normally choose people of the same ethnicity to be your neighbours. so in one flat there will be 8 small rooms. and if you're chinese you will be grouped with the people from China. if you're malay you'll be grouped with the other muslims. but thats rarely the case because the muslims that study in UK are rich. they're from dubai, saudi, oman, kuwait and they won't stay in small student accommodations. they stay in apartments.

private accommodation is a bit more than student accommodation. but you have privacy, a whole apartment to yourself, bathtub, a big bed, a hall, a balcony, a kitchen, fridge, sofa and so much more. why would anyone want to stay dalam satu bilik yang kecil dan sempit macam penjara iaitu student accommodation?

fikir baik baik. jangan dengar apa orang kata. pergi buat research sendiri. tetapi pada pendapat saya prrvate accommodation lebik bak daripada student accommodation.

I agree with you. You get more versatility if you go with private accommodations but I would recommend freshers to go into University accommodations, at least for the first year. It's a great experience and if you're lucky enough to get amazing flatmates, it's going to be something to remember. Then, if you feel like going private next semester, at least you can go survey the accommodations available and can negotiate with the landlord for a good deal. biggrin.gif

eh thats not true lol, what you are saying its securing a SINGLE BEDROOM FLAT for your accommodation, only then you can get big apartment for yourself, and that is honestly pretty pricey in plenty of cities, rent is around 30-50% more than what you pay for a room in a shared flat with strangers.

there is also private accommodation option where you'd end up with strangers. some uni offer studio option for single person, i have not heard of uni offering a single bedroom apartment option. so yes mostly private accommodation offer the single bed option.

but i agree with other forumers, 1st year, there' no harm in going to uni accommodation, cause their service (repairs and what not) are generally much better, also easy chance to mix with the locals if lucky, they also organize a lot of social events for you meet more people.

so end of the day its not private or uni, its how much you wanna pay and what you expecting to get from it.

lucky? you would have better luck striking the lottery. i'm speaking from experience. i stayed in student accommodation for one month and i moved out to private. these were the problems with student accommodation.
1) small room
2) room heater always spoil, at night very cold and hard to sleep
3) bathing area in toilet is small, toilet always choke, property & maintenance officer very slow and lazy to rectify the problems. if you are big size, bathing will be a problem.
4) walls in the student accommodation is thin. the china guys in my left and right room always tembak their pompuan at night. very noisy. hard to sleep.
5) you have to share a common kitchen. anyone spoil anything, everybody will be fined by the property officer to buy or replace the damage item. contoh ialah tv, meja, dapur dan lain-lain lagi.

you need more coffee because you don't make sense. every borough leeds, manchester, nottingham will have many agent office. you go there, tell the agent your budget and they will show you up to 5 private apartments for you to choose.

why must i mix with locals when already for 20 years of my life, i turn left, i turn right, i turn behind and i look ahead semua is locals. if i come to UK of course i want to mix with international students. if not lebih baik i stay at home. no need buang duit beli ticket, bayar visa.

fikir. fikir. saya tampar muka you macam buaya baru you tahu biggrin.gif
