QUOTE(Balaclava @ Sep 9 2010, 08:11 PM) I think it's B then. The doctor told me it's to prevent food viruses causing death or some sort. I wasn't quite sane when I knew I had to take 2 jabs of vaccination. But finally took the second jab yesterday. phew. LOL. the injection was so fast! and the needle was just a pinch! i was expecting something more exciting, honestly. =( & he put a nice plaster on my needle wound. so cute! ♥ QUOTE(alvinz @ Sep 9 2010, 09:21 PM) nope, u have to go there to check it urself .. get all ur fingers and toes crossed .. haha but if u r confident in ur documents, there shouldnt be any problem .. collection time is 10am till 3pm ... congratz ... maybe TS can update post#1 regarding the true copy thingie .. btw, those already at UK, must organize a big lyn meetup! .. lol yes, make sure the certified true copy is chopped by the bank and signed by the officer. just in case, put the date too (mine don't have though).

QUOTE(cherriedpie @ Sep 9 2010, 06:25 PM) Isn't type A hereditary? People usually take vaccination for Hepatitis Type B. neither hepatitis a nor b is 'hereditary'.......you cannot inherit a virus, you inherit genes and genetic disorders...... if they are taking about food borne diseases, they are referring to hepatitis a.......but really, uk is a pretty civilised country, so you are unlikely to contract hep a there.......

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Sep 8 2010, 05:37 PM) Why should you be worried? If your father have a HSBC Premier account, you can even open a UK account before leaving Malaysia. Problem is NOOOOOOO.... argh... now its either HSBC (8 gbp per month) or Natwest....

My case:
woke up around 4.30am on the 2nd sept,bath bath cab cab monorail monorail cab cab again,reached the MCA building at 7am plus,so happy thought my friends n I were the most kiasu one since the place opens at 8 am! then *face palm cos the number I got from the security on the ground floor was 58.innocently,fine, ignorantly, i tot thats my NUMBER for real so when i reached 4 th floor I was even more amazed by the crowd there...zzz but i didnt bother squeezing in the crowd infront the entrance,later did i know, another numbering sytem when we entered the place FML i got no.311 i think and the number on call was 229 >.< not to include those who had appointments made,long story short I stayed in the building from 7am til 4 pm to get everything done!! worst of all, i had to throw away my contact lens cos we re not allowed to wear coloured ones when they take photograph of our eyes,and i did not have the lens case with me!!!
that was on 2nd, now it is 10th but I guess I am gonna postponing my flight to later that,from originally 16th , change it to 23rd as i dont think it takes only less than 10 working days, I secretly asked the person who issue my receipt on the 19th floor he said it ll take MINIMIN 10 working days,with the raya holidays and all those saturdays n sundays and one day for courier, it is sensible i sacrifice by late enrollment...sad
p.s:anyone going to Northumbria Uni apart from me and Canopies???
wish u all luck!!! in visa n uni!

Ask the HSBC premier bank officer for details. Natwest isn't that bad. (: There's Lloyds, Halifax, Barclays, etc etc Don't be worried la.

Alternatively, if your parent already have Malaysia HSBC Premier account, then there are ways to get free UK HSBC Premier account open BEFORE you left Malaysia and have it for free also.

I heard it was RM 500k and you need to have a constant flow of a certain amount to keep the account active.

No, I am pretty sure you don't need that large a figure to qualify nor constant flow. I was told Malaysian HSBC has one of the lowest requirement so I am pretty sure it is around RM200K or RM250K.

Anybody know how's the internet in UK? My college uses JANET, and I know they don't allow P2P activity, so how do you guys survive without Bittorent? Is PPS considered a no-no as well?
What's the use of hi-speed internet if you can't use it to the max. ;_;

Heeeey where in bristol are you studying? UWE or UoB? As far as working is concerned nope don't need no insurance... but the max number of working hours is 20 during school time and unlimited during summer hols for undergrads... postgrads its limited to 20 all year round QUOTE(limeuu @ Sep 11 2010, 12:43 AM) talking about insurance......do international students need to buy health insurance, like in oz?........or they are automatically covered under nhs?...... I think not covered... cause in our visa's doesn't it say no recourse to public funds?

You are automatically covered under NHS, but you'll need to register with a GP. The induction organised by your university should explain this.
