Working part time normally doesnt require any application of National Insurance, but for some employer, they will need you to apply for it.
ANother one thing that I would like to share is for those who is coming over, best is dont stay in all the time for pps. You might regret by the time you go back as you should spend more time exploring the local places, meeting new people and stuff.
Many of my friends came, sticked together all the time and pps most of their free time. After 1 year completion of their degree, it's time to back and I am wondering if how they would discribe when people ask them how's England like ..

For those who is coming for more than 1 year study, i would recommend to apply for internship which they call it work placement in here, it can be 3 months contract or up to 12 months. It is really a good experience where you will get involved in many new things and stuff which will strongly benefit your future career.

no, you are wrong. usually you are require NI number, if you are working place like McD/kfc etc.. unless you are working in take-away shop, which pay daily/weekly, then you don't need a NI number..
it's normal for your friends for sticking together.. communication and living style are totally different, plus they weren't familiar how it's the life style in uk. unless you have some senior/guide, then you can adapt the life style easily. well, what do you expect from living in uk? unless you like to clubbing/travel around. then staying in house/gathering are the most common thing when you are studying.
btw, it's good if you have the opportunity working placement/internship. but bear in mind, now the economy isn't that good as before. A lot of companies have cancelled the budget for hiring graduate and placement student. i would say try to involve in Voluntary work while looking for job coz it's very good in your cv when you are applying a job (especially for those don't hv any working experience).

my bag is bursting w/ clothes. i know a lot of people say go there and buy, but i already have the clothes i'm bringing, why help the UK economy?
coz the weight is important for you when you are coming to uk. usually we will save the weight for FOOD!!! or things that are cheap in malaysia but expensive in uk. understand?
btw, coz winter is coming now. the clothes you are wearing in malaysia isn't suitable for you during winter time.. unless summer, then it's ok. but it's going to be very cold this winter.. be prepare! lol..
btw, welcome to UK.. i guess you guys will 'like' the weather! lol...
