After seeing the number of people and concerned parents today at lvl 4 I am glad that I went a week earlier! and back then i was already thinking to myself OMG even with an appointment I need to wait 4 hours to submit the application >.< I think its MUCH longer now... That said it only took me 15-30mins to collect my documents XD

I'm planning to get a part-time job here in Bristol. Is there anything that I need to apply before I can work? Like insurance or something?
*
Heeeey where in bristol are you studying? UWE or UoB? As far as working is concerned nope don't need no insurance... but the max number of working hours is 20 during school time and unlimited during summer hols for undergrads... postgrads its limited to 20 all year round

talking about insurance......do international students need to buy health insurance, like in oz?........or they are automatically covered under nhs?......
*
I think not covered... cause in our visa's doesn't it say no recourse to public funds?

yes, a chest x-ray (to screen for TB) and a blood test report (for any blood transmitted illnesses). And it is not random, those with a new visa will have to go through this on arrival.
*
Hmmmn I just had a friend who went over to a couple of days ago and he did not do any blood/urine test... and was not required to do it at borfer control either... and yes its a new visa it's his first time in UK... so it's not HAVE TO... in fact he didn't use his xray either...

Agree, I used Skype also when I went there to study few years ago.
Thanks for the comment! You prefer Nottingham over Bristol huh, cool. I stayed in Bristol for a year during my bachelor degree study, and I actually quite enjoyed staying there. Now I'm looking forward to at least visit Nottingham, if not studying at there. smile.gif

Bristol, best city in the UK!! rclxm9.gif

I clearly enjoyed my time there lol! Close enough to London, not too tourist ridden like Bath, not too small/quiet a city.

I used Skype too when I was there to call home. Used O2 prepaid, 10quid a month... Never ran out of data but then again I was using a Nokia phone...
