QUOTE(kilowatt @ Aug 8 2009, 10:31 PM)
hello to all,

hmm i got some problem with my Q9450 on OC...

so i tried to overclocked my proc to 3.8ghz just now...

here my rig :-

Q9450 C1
Maximus II Formula
Dominator 2x2gb 1066mhz
Raptor 74gb
Xigmatek Red Scorpion

Overclocked to 475mhz x 8 = 3.8Ghz

so here my setting on bios

CPU - 1.33v goes to BSOD after 2sec  sweat.gif  run Prime95 large data set

then i set to 1.35v 1 core failed after a minute run Prime95

set to 1.37v 1 core failed after 10mins run Prime95

set 1.38v 1 core failed after 10min run Prime95 & 9mins run OCCT large data set..

NB - 1.4v
SB - 1.5v
FSB - 1.3v
Memory - 475Mhz 5-5-5-18 @ 2.0v  ...

all the core temp are 78C - 80C and the CPU temp is 50C - 60C..

and i still running 3.8ghz right now...so do u guy have any ideas why do it cant stable?...

sooo itchy la look at people who run 3.8ghz stable...arghh!!  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif ...help me guys!! sad.gif
*
i think u dont need 1.4v for nb, around 1.3v will do for 500fsb quad at p45.
u might need set the vtt to 1.35v, and since 475 fsb for quad is not low, u might need to tweak the gtl ref.

CPU - 1.37v
NB - 1.5v
SB - 1.5v
FSB - 1.37v
RAM 2.1v
Enable LLC
GTL 0 - +20

edited..

i still working on GTLREF...but still dont understand how to get the 0,1,2,3 value...

as i understand 0 will same value with 2

and 1 will have same value with 3..

is that true?...

@nncl

hehe i oredi low the volt to 1.4v...

cry.gif my class already started & dont have much time to do trial and error to oc at 3.8ghz...so my last try last night was 3.72ghz & it was stable!..

I've run Prime95 on Large FFTs and i stopped the test without any error and it run around 12Hours 34Mins....is that enough?...because my target is 12hours biggrin.gif....

btw here my setting to get it done :-

456x8 @ 3.720.61ghz
Cpu - 1.35v
PLL - 1.55v
FSB - 1.325v
DRAM - 2.1v Timing & Speed on Auto and it set to 465Mhz @ 5-5-5-18
NB - 1.4V
SB - 1.5V default
SB 1.1 - 1.1v default
GTLref (0) - +10
GTLref (1) - +10
GTLref (2) - +10
GTLref (3) - +10
NB GTLref - Auto
LLC Enable

here's the proof..

still on run- cLickMe biggrin.gif

stopped- cLickMe biggrin.gif

so do you guys have any comments on my setting, temps or others?...just write it...coz i wanna know ur opinion so can improve
my knowledge hehe..thx to all!

bro kilowatt, i think ur nb voltage can lower some more, i use 1.2v to stable at 450fsb (core2duo), but i think quad add 0.02 or 0.04 should be enough. p45 at 1.44v can achieve 6xx fsb already. and 1.4v for daily use not so healthy for ur nb too.

btw, the memset i not know so well to but i try to tell u the thing that i knew about the memset.
the timing and performance level very affect the performance of ram (lower is better)
(timing affect latency, performance level affect latency and bandwidth)
i show some example for u.

Performance level 8
user posted image

Performance level 10
user posted image

as u can c the bandwidth is lower and the latency is higher when performance level is higher.
but when u using high fsb , it is not easy to stable at lower performance level, u need a good ram first.

another option in memset i not very clear also(may b lower is better?) , need another pros to explain for u.

correct me if i am wrong. thank you

dominator 8500 a... , i cant say it good or not, coz not use it b4, but if u really need good overclock ability 2x2g, u can consider gskill pi series. btw i am running 4x1gb setting.

@nncl,
nicely explain. PL level affect much for mem banwidth.
basically you don't need other setting, just lower the PL level will gain you the most out of your OC.

Go to bios set, if u set at memset after restart will chg back to default.
Go bios find "Ai Transaction Booster" set to manual, then got one menu call "Common Performance Level" show up, u can set at here.
Before you set u use memset set at the performance level value that you want, run some stability program , confirm stable then you set at the bios.
