reading too much sport news perhaps or the fact that Rafa was replaced by a not-so-successful manager or maybe because one of the best holding midfielder is trying to leave or maybe because of our financial difficulties that we might get 9 points deduction by the end of the season if the debt keep rising... well, plenty of reasons to think about. But have faith my friend.. "hope is good thing"

You also sound no confidence - believe if we win.

Historically, when was the last time after 2 match were we at the bottom 4?

I'm sure you've done some research to come to your conclusion as have I. I do think that we need a lot of optimism but that's when you are watching the team and cheering them on. In discussions, I find it more productive to be realistic and look at what we need to improve on. My outlook is that of a pessimist especially since we are in the same situation we were last season, with regards to ownership. The longer this issue is dragged on, the more the club, it's management and players will be unsettled. Imagine working in a corporation about to be taken over. You know for a fact that when new owners come in, chances are top management will be reshuffled. When that happens, other employees will be uncertain of their positions. You won't have peace of mind unless and until you know your position is secure. \

Whilst we are busy replacing outgoing players with incoming ones, our opponents are bolstering their squads. We are still reliant on Gerrard and Torres. The only other match winner we had last season was Benayoun and he's left. Maybe Cole will fill the void, maybe not. Who else? Jovanovic is a decent player but he isn't going to change the face of the game for you.

Our away form was poor last season and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better under Roy Hodgson who has similar difficulties last season. I admire that he went with two up front against Man City, but he should have made adjustments when it became clear N'Gog and Torres were isolated as City cut off supply lines to them. We created more chances towards the end of the game and had more room but that was because City had already gone 3 up. Before some posters go, "aiyah play negative football also you complain, play attacking football also complain", please note it isn't black & white here. You don't choose either strategy and stick with it the whole game, you adapt. You can start off on an attacking note, but drop back when you find you're getting overrun.

In terms of having a good team this season, I don't think our team is much different from last season. Here's why:-

1) Jovanovic effectively replaces Benayoun who started on the left for much of last season. I still think Benayoun has better ability.
2) Cole looks to play in the hole, a place occupied by Gerrard last season. I don't think many would disagree that Stevie is the better player.
3) Our attacking options from midfield look better with Gerrard dropping back there but losing Mascherano means our skipper will be spending a lot of time tracking back. We all know him as a box-to-box player or as Martin Tyler once quoted, "a one-man-task-force", but he is getting on a little and who knows if his legs will hold out over the course of the season? Our only hope is that Poulsen can replicated that Mascherano has been doing but I haven't seen enough of him to know this.

In summary, I'm not sure if we've improved especially if/when Mascherano leaves.

Mourinho insists: I could never manage Liverpool

Jose Mourinho says he would gladly take over the managerial reins at Manchester United, Arsenal or even Chelsea - but he would never become coach of Liverpool.

Mourinho and ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez never saw eye-to-eye

Mourinho, currently preparing for his first season as Real Madrid boss, says he harbours thoughts of a return to the Premier League but could never take the top job at Anfield.

While he was at former club Chelsea, Mourinho had a fractious relationship with then Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, and he incensed their fans with a gesture during the Carling Cup final in 2005.

He told the Daily Mail: "Manchester United would be a great challenge for me. But Liverpool is not the club for me. I know why, but I cannot tell you. Tottenham, Everton... Arsenal maybe. These are all fine clubs with very good managers.

"You can dream of what happens in one, two, three or four years. Who knows? I cannot say, but I think you have an idea of what I think about. I had a dream about being the manager of Real Madrid. It has come true. For me that is incredible."

Although Mourinho insists his immediate priority is wresting the Spanish title from rivals Barcelona, he has again spoken of his desire to return to England one day.

He added: "My ambition is success and I wanted to manage Real Madrid. I have no plans to leave. I have only just arrived. There is much work to be done. I do not know how long it will take. But I give my commitment to Real Madrid and we will see. Nothing is forever.

"But I have to commit. I can't say Real Madrid one season, Manchester United, Liverpool the next, Barcelona after that. But I like England very much. I have many good friends there."

Mourinho refused to rule out the possibility of returning to former club Chelsea - the club that sacked him in September 2007 - where he won their first league title in 50 years.

He said: "Many of the Chelsea players are still good friends of mine and I always watch for their results and progress. They are doing well. Ancelotti is a fine coach and that is good for the club because they are a great club with many, many nice people."

"I am careful what I say and what I think. For me it might be impossible. I don't know. I am not saying I would not like to. Who knows? Football is strange and beautiful at the same time."

When Mickey Owen left I also felt that we'd not be the same anymore...but things change and there are more emerging clubs out there who are more attractive than LFC, either by the number of trophies they have, the players/manager in the club or by $$$.

Arsenal too also lost all their players in their 'invinsible' era and they rely heavily on their youths to rebuild the team. Time for our youth and fringe players to buckle up then? The likes of Pacheco, Babel, Wilson, Darby, Kelly, Spearing (?) must step up their game and start by stopping Tranzponsbor in their tracks.

it looks like konchecsky and another striker on the way to our club with masch leaving, kuyt might leave too.. hang in there guys, we might even start from a smaller scale next season, with the issue of the ownership not resolved, i dont see us heading for better days to look forward to.

anyway, with the squad that is travelling to turkey, i still expect us to get thru the tie into the main competition, time for the likes of pacheco, ngog, spearing, babel and kelly to get more competitive matches under their belt.

It is ironic that no one wants to own one of the most successful clubs in England.

The obvious reason would be that the current muppets want a tidy sum of what, 800 million? That's probably more than the amount spent by both the owners of Chelsea or Man City in their first few seasons (takeover fee + player splurge) doh.gif

We also do not have a proper stadium. Anfield may still be a fortress to many a fan, but at best it is a crumbling one sad.gif

---

However, everyone knows the above.

A certain part of me also thinks that the supporters themselves could be a turn off. No other English club has such vocal and well... mildly put 'potentially disruptive' supporters. The amount of wishful thinking, xenophobic hate and unrealistic demands posted on Liverpool forums can be overwhelming. Could this also be a reason why there are no takers?

I for one won't want to spend a fortune buying a club where the supporters are constantly baying "The club belongs to us! We want to have a say!!!".

The more reconciliatory and sober approach taken by some of the more senior RAWK members is therefore very welcome, to me anyways.

Newcastle?

Possibly but on the flipside of the coin, you also have a loyal bunch of supporters who will be behind you all the way if you are taking the club in the right direction. Also, you have fans who are relatively patient, resulting in less pressure to pull a rabbit out of the hat. The supporters want but one thing, to ensure that club traditions are preserved and respected. Anything else can be done in the name of progress including moving away from Anfield, our home. From what I can see on forums like RAWK, more and more fans are also warming to OOTs, to the extent that they can even bring themselves to respect them to some degree.

In summary, Liverpool fans may be vocal and want to have a say but only when there is no respect shown by the owners to out history. Monetary wise, there is still a huge fan base to tap on despite relative quiet 2 decades.

I think all the investors are waiting for the Oct dateline.... So the current yankees will be pressured to sell it off at .... maybe no profit made.

What happened to the other earlier so-called-potential buyer led by some counrty ex-player? They sound more like "Hike-up the price" bidder to me.
