QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jun 22 2011, 12:26 AM) You might need to do a lot of work on this as you need to manually flash the firmware, no support, and the device is released as "beta". An incomplete set? Doesn't sound too different compared to N900? QUOTE(DecemberRose @ Jun 22 2011, 02:05 AM) Do you guyz think this phone camera can fight with N8?the best think i can see from this phone is free from lag and cool multi-task but i afraid do not have much apps for meego os.I see my friend who own N900 have very limited software.Correct me if i'm wrong XD We've got tons of alternative apps with funny names, like Tweego for Twitter, Nelisquare for Foursquare. But we've Firefox, Chrome. And we can install WebOS games and of course Android games in Nitdroid. Not officially but well, non-official still counts I guess. It was so highly priced for such a bulky phone with not so intuitive UI, of course bad sales. |

Benchmarking is 1 thing but using is another thing. For those love desktop like browsing then microB is for you. Also you have to understand that Nokia stopped updating microB sometimes ago so some of it's feature are behind other browsers. |

N9 - The walking dead never look so good...
I lolled @ this comment Added on June 22, 2011, 10:48 amI don't mind buying N9 but I'm afreaid that MeeGo Harmattan used in N9 contain both open source & proprietary stuff. In case Nokia stopped providing any updates for N9 ( which I think will happen) we cannot alter too much of the OS. This is what happening with Maemo 5.It contained both open source & proprietary stuff(media player, power management, application manager etc2).There are users willing & capable of dismantling & enhance the OS further but Nokia refuse to provide Maemo 5's entire source code. Added on June 22, 2011, 11:33 am N9 is making TI OMAP 3630 looks darn good This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Jun 22 2011, 11:33 AM |

Maybe in a couple of months. I just think that Nokia is testing the market with this N9. If it's successful, they might change their mind about killing it slowly along with Symbian. It can just exist alongside WP7.

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 22 2011, 09:15 AM) Doesn't sound too different compared to N900? Yup, N900 was kind of more for advance users; When it first launch, there was NO PLANS to launch in SEA (South East Asia). I was one of the first who interested in this model and many others have been inquiring Nokia for the N900; Even to the extend of emailing to Nokia EU multiple times. Finally the replied, NO PLANS to launch in SEA. Probably they worry selling the device to non-literate users, it'll just create more problems. But India is very keen of this device, they love Linux, you can see their Linux mags, they publish tons of page on the N900 and at the last page, it said due to restriction, they have to stop here and they have not even covered half of it.We've got tons of alternative apps with funny names, like Tweego for Twitter, Nelisquare for Foursquare. But we've Firefox, Chrome. And we can install WebOS games and of course Android games in Nitdroid. Not officially but well, non-official still counts I guess. It was so highly priced for such a bulky phone with not so intuitive UI, of course bad sales. So, those who've been disappointment, they opt for AP set; until later, very late, finally Nokia decided to launch in SEA. The launch in INDIA and HK was amazing, if you check out their launching, so many technical information sharing and so on, they even talk demo on emulators and so on. Big difference with here I would say. Here, I think many people bought not because they know the device or know what they want, but because of the publicity or people say it's good, only to find later it's not suitable for them, thus more complains. It's like someone who doesn't drive fast, wants a comfortable car, but buys a high powered sports cars, then complain about the high fuel consumption, uncomfortable ride, etc. Anyway, N900 still has better support than N950, as you can still receive OTA updates, and other support; Just that, there's no more updates available for quite long time, no progress, and the OS is very much incomplete, just useable. Many features still missing, which can actually make this an amazing OS... This post has been edited by Andy214: Jun 22 2011, 03:29 PM |

QUOTE(BuFung @ Jun 22 2011, 04:09 PM) It think it might be more like api converter.Application developers still needs to write back to suit an of Nokia's OS.This is unlike QT for Maemo/MeeGo/Symbian.Write once but compile it for 3 OS. Someone mentioned that Fruit Ninja can't be played because of the swipe gesture? I think it still possible to play Fruit Ninja or any other swiping games because from I've seen in order to change "homescreen" you need to swipe from edge to edge of screen.Meanwhile in Fruit Ninja you swipe only minor part of the screen. Also regarding the multitask view. Some application will be shown live while some program(like video player) will be paused.Personally I feel this is a decent idea because it'll make the battery last slightly longer compared to running all the program @ once. |
