this looks convincing... seems has the same OS as N8... no ?

*
N9 should be running MeeGo.
MeeGo going beta this October. So N9 OS still should be half baked.
This phone OS looks like Symbian^3.

QUOTE(squall3377 @ Aug 19 2010, 11:54 PM)
Maemo = Meego ?

Meego
*
Yes and no.
The main complain received from average user of Maemo 5 were Maemo is harder to use than other mobile os(Android & iOS).
So when Nokia & Intel merged Nokia decided to halt Maemo 6 development and revamp the OS as MeeGo.Most probably MeeGo will the strip down of some advanced functions that Maemo 5 had be a more mobile OS
There will be quite some difference between MeeGo and Maemo codes.Read about it at MeeGo wiki if anyone interested.

If Nokia indeed dump N8 like camera into N9 how high do you think the price will be?
When N8 pricing was 1st announced,it was 450+ euros.Now it's 550+ euros.

my take is N8 gone to stay at top range for a while, cos it have 12mp camera as for strong selling point flex.gif

I don't care a damn about cameras.Things that matter for me are physical qwerty keyboard, performance & good os.
For me N900 is currently only phone can satisfy my demand. No other phone can beat it's internet experience.

hope Nokia put decent hardware on it..  ARM11 again... sweat.gif sweat.gif

but Meego.. since with Intel..   Intel should step in .. in the processor part....
*
Proper Moorestown based smartphone have to wait till next year I think.
One of the reason why Intel haven't be successful in creating mobile processor as ARM is because they cannot make their processor to work in low current as ARM.Batteries don't last long with their previous attempt.
Ever since Intel announced Atom, they have been spending more time on mobile processors. This time they should have better result.

Feature wise Moorestown better than ARM

1GHz processor sort of disappointing for me...
Considering this is the flagship model from Nokia I expected a 1.2GHz processor.

Nope.It's an entirely different design.

Handset UI customization.
I can see faint Maemo resemblance here.

N9 got less attention compare to N8

N8 already been production while N9 still in alpha state.
No point for Nokia to advertise N9.
Once N9 released to beta testers then you'll see more advertisement on MeeGo

n9 is actually e7 right?
*
Aren't you contradicting with your own post?
E7 already been launched & using Symbian.N9 still haven't been announced bu will be using MeeGo.
How can both these smartphones be same?

QUOTE(HeiShou @ Oct 17 2010, 08:24 PM)
Hope that its better than N900 and i can afford it xD
*
I should be better than N900(at least size & spec wise) but the price will more or less be same as N900's launching price.

This is just PURE AWESOMENESS!

Really, 12MP AF Camera, QWERTY keyboard, hopefully good innards as well and having the backing of awesome community.

I CANT WAIT laugh.gif
*
Don't expect the same kind of community support as N900/Maemo 5 with N9/N950/Maemo6 (whatever Nokia calls it)
Nokia already messed up with Maemo big time. Most of the current power users rather prefer to enhance Maemo 5 than move to N9.

You guys can pretty much write off Nokia's support for this phone.

No definite proof that it's running Meego/Maemo 6

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ May 18 2011, 07:25 PM)
Well, as one of the N810 user, I beg to differ there. I believe this is very much similar to the N8x0 and N900 situation 2 years ago.

I still remember when N900 was released. Most of the users didn't want to upgrade from the N8x0 series due to some possible "downgrades" such as smaller screen, and the hardware itself is not that much of an upgrade (Although I still lol when someone compared the older ARM11 CPU on N8x0 to be only 200mhz slower than the CPU used in N900 and arguing that its not much of a change laugh.gif). And also Nokia's silliness not to properly support the N8x0 series really anger many people, till they practically written off anything from Nokia in the future.

Yes, there are some effort to enhance N8x0 series such as the Mer project and Meego adaptation for N8x0 series to revitalise the line up but all just being left out and abandoned. (Really hoped the current CSSU and Diablo Turbo project continues on tho!)

But as times goes on, more and more people adapt N900 as their primary device, and lo and behold, the Maemo 5 took off and become one of the geek playground. And also practically EOL'd the N8x0 series. Sigh sweat.gif

Surely this time its going to be much different. The "awesome" N900 support by Nokia that leave a sour taste in every user mouth, the Elopocalypse and Meego being left in the backburner really makes N9 much harder to be appealing to the community. But I believe that over time, the hardware upgrades on the N9 (Capacitive screen, improved CPU+ RAM+ GPU, 12MPX Camera), alongside with the enhancement on the Meego Harmattan will make it more appealing, and perhaps that will drive the adoption rate of it.

Just like 2 years ago, when N900 launches icon_rolleyes.gif

p/s: And also, as a current N810 user, I have to agree on the awful support by Nokia. We didn't have any app to use our webcam for! And don't get me started on the stunted A2DP support on it, it just like rubbing salt onto open wound sweat.gif

It could be the highest end of hardwares but with Nokia's reputation with Maemo/MeeGo this will just be another fiasco
