Your life is much more important and valuable so I would suggest forking out the extra 3.5K. True, the Saga's petrol consumption is higher but it provides better protection and more space for its occupants. It is also better looking car. In terms of quality, Proton has somewhat improved over the years although problems do occur occasionally (depending on your luck...Proton's QC is hit or miss affair). Resale value for Proton is not as bad as it was a decade ago. Anyway, you are only spending 40K for a car so you don't lose much compared to other marques.
P/S - Just by looking at the Viva, you can tell that it's a very fragile car.

overall saga better than viva..
if u not planing 2 sell off ur car in 5yrs time den u nonid 2 care about the 2nd hand value..
08 saga used car stil can take 26k-28k.. lost around 10k for 2yrs consider ok d..

Seems like the only thing keeping you from buying the Saga is the resale value.
Think of it this way: do you plan to sell the car in the next 3 years? 5 years? If not, then don't bother about the resale value, as eventually everything will hit a floor price and even out in the long run. If yes, then I think you know what to do.
As for fragility, what people mean is in an accident. The car is small. I would not expect the car to do well in an accident. I don't blame the car. It's the laws of physics.

anneysays, my gf just bought a viva elite (more expensive than my saga blm m-lineÂ

)...seriously...no power...door is so thin...and the car is so light..space is limited...saga blm is definitly more solid and if safety is important...why not a saga...better package..

I know what you mean. I can't speak for the Viva, but I drove a Kelisa for 4.5 years and when i made the switch to the Saga, the difference was huge. It handled better, was more comfortable, and the overall feel was more refined. Not to mention the space.
I guess the best thing is to test drive it. Then maybe anneysays will know what we mean.

make it this way, if u feel perodua made ur day, go ahead. if u wanna give a chance for BLM, then go for a test drive. resell value is plain shit for local cars, u get cheap drive, u save the hassle for having a depreciation there. with higher resell value, u pay more ahead. if i were to sell my BLM, why not i make it a 2nd car and get myself a new car instead? 1.3, roadtax not expensive what..who knows ur kids might need it one day as a practical use vehicle to stick the P sticker and get into the roads to practise their driving skills?
Gosh thanks so much everyone for your feedbacks!I got the most helpful ones here compared to some other threads hahah. Well i finally got to test drive both the viva and saga today. Basically, the viva is of course, easier to drive but the seat is EXTREMELY comfortable!I don't know if its adjustable or not but something about the angle makes me have to sit up so straight and..gosh just super uncomfortable hahaha. The interior looks very...plastic-ky and cheap looking(no offense to viva users) and then i tested the door sound cos i read ALOT of people online saying, the door sounds like milo tin when you close it.I now understand what they mean lolll. (the salesman mentioned the Segamat accident also)
I then got to tried the saga..the wheel, gearbox and pedal felt SUPER heavy and stiff. But the salesman said that the one i tried was one of the earliest batch and they've improved on those in the new batches dy. I didnt get to test the new batch, but he said its very light, even too light for him it seems. So,just wanna check,is this true for those of you who have just gotten the car recently? In terms of interior and comfort,Saga definitely wins hands down lol. i LOVE the meter panel btw haha. But the back manual windows and car lock arent so good..
I then asked him, which car would he personally recommend me and he said, it depends on what i need. I prefer the saga more for several reasons such as space, comfort, design, safety, value for money. The main disadvantage is just the fc due to higher cc and the resale value. I plan (for now) to keep the car for at least 5 years. I might sell it,i might keep it(less likely). The salesman said someone just traded in a 2 yr old saga for 30k..so for now, still okay. So i think i kinda know which car im leaning more towards but..just slightly hesitant abit lol. And oh,the saga's engine noise is super loud also >< i found out it was because it uses a big fan where else perodua cars uses small fan. lol.
I read alot of you here commenting abt the door noise? Is it a common issue?I forgot to check earlier during the test drive.
The salesman really likes the Persona though. Full of praises for it hahaha.and apparantly very few customers complains also.but im not taking that into consideration cos i dont need(and dont like) such a big car haha.
sorry cerita grandmother story pula
