For most driver, if the car skid, the 1st reaction is jam the brake as hard as possible to stop the car, they can't even think brake gradually and shift gear, but not our fault, becos this is human nature, thats why the driver aided kits called 'ABS' was born, becos this system won't affected by emotional such as panic. tongue.gif

So sorry to hear that. This is my 1st time I ever skidded a car. I won't expect a Saga to skidded as I thought Saga has Lotus handling plus its relatively lower center gravity as compared to cars like Myvi and Viva. But well, I am wrong after this incident. Conclusion, better invest on proper tyres for better gripping in the event there is slippery roads or wet roads. It happen out of the sudden, my car suddenly turned to the left by itself.  rclxub.gif

P/S: I was driving at 60km/h to 70km/h at that time.
*
Suspension also the culprit in this case. Our suspension is quite soft, when underbraking, the mass transfer to front wheel is very high (you can feel your front end sink alot when u brake hard on dry road) , thats why on dry day, our car seems like can't stop very well, becos the brake not powerful enough, while on wet road, the stock tyres are suck, and easily lock by the brake, thats why skid.

your FC is for 1.3 Auto or Manual???
My friend's Saga is consuming higher and higher FC(I just share what he said)???
He said that his "New" Saga(Auto) in year 2008 can run for 300++km, but now 2010 can only for 250-280km.....
He said that it is becoz his car is ageing = =
Really????
SiuYi, something to ask you....
just to confirm, not to offend...
Is that really improved? One of my friends told me but I am not sure about that....
(Because my another friend bought saga blm in 2008 and now.... his accessories, such as radio, aircon, central lock all got problems before... >< )

Btw, any members here bought your saga blm in Year 2009? any comments to it???

Thanks....
*
I think that's averaging 10km/l? My 2010 Auto is averaging there as well.

And please do maintain the tyre pressure regularly. Every month, I find I have to pump more air into these 60 series tyres compared to 55 series tyres. Or maybe it's just a percentage thing? hmm.gif

QUOTE(fesick @ Sep 9 2010, 02:30 AM)
me bought y. 2009.. so far the only problem was the radio just turn off itself.. the reason, unknown  shocking.gif ,
cant detect what cause it..  still under investigation  sweat.gif
FC hmm.. rm50 ron97 for around 300km.. engine sound bit annoying.. but, thats fine..

Turn off as in totally no lights or anything at all on the player, right? Have you checked your fusebox?

That's true. ABS isn't just "not affected" by panic braking. It depends on the panic braking to activate.

my ride is one of the 2008 series. and to be frank, the only faulty part is the power window switch ONLY. regarding IAFM, my ride never got that tak tak tak sound at all, but we went to SC and got a free change even without the sound. our SC says better to prevent before it happens. other than that, the gearbox not so smooth, SC change gear lubricant then prob solved. radio no issue, just autosearch off it then settle. alarm good what, but i upgrade to aftermarket after 1 month of usage.

+Newbie+
regarding ABS braking sys, from my understanding: it wont activate under panic braking. it will lock deadly if u press ur brakes in a sudden. my friend told me from his experience with ford ranger ABS and isuzu dmax ABS.

lol, like that oso u notice ar? tongue.gif

Anyways, if I understand correctly, the whole point of ABS is to allow users to brake quickly without the wheels locking. When a car has ABS, you cannot pump the brakes like you would on a non ABS car. This would negate the ABS. You're supposed to just depress the brake fully without letting go.

Did your friend try turning the wheels when he was braking hard?

ABS only activate IF the system detect the wheel slipping
smile.gif
it wont activate even if u brake suddenly because the system detect that the wheel is still spinning, NOT slipping...

If you were driving straight slowly and your car suddenly swerved, there might have been oil on the road. I still remember sitting in my friends car on the federal highway facing the usual congestion, when suddenly the car ahead to the left made a 180 degree turn. Scary shit I tell you.
*
That's why I experienced it myself yesterday. Indeed it was a scary moment. For that one second, the car spind one round by itself towards the left and I jammed up the brakes too hard and couldn't get it to stop. Somehow ended into a ditch. sweat.gif

Human's natural reaction is to press the brakes hard in case of emergencies. The rims I think need to skim it. No money to buy a new sets of rims. =(

Yes....that's natural human reaction is to slam the brake as hard as posible. Where got time to shift my gear from D to 3 or 2? It happen so sudden.

After getting my car back from the workshop, I felt my car is not as smooth as last time. When I shift to D or R, the whole car jerks alot and rattles the whole dashboard area and steering wheel. Was it normal? Or should I go back to the workshop? It seems that something was very loose after I had an accident on it yesterday. Can someone advice me about this? icon_question.gif

i dun think so as he is an offroad driver.he knows how to drive and has his company professional license. he mentioned it is very dangerous if u duno how to drive an ABS ride as the brake lock system needs technique. a panic brake wont stop ur ride, but it will act like there's no brake at all.

Wanna ask a question, if my car's left front wheel hits the ditch for a few meters, after repaired my car the whole cabin vibration is so loud when I put it to D or R. When the air-con compressor kicks in, the whole dashboard and steering wheel is like going to fall off. Does it mean that something is loose or this might be the aftermath after having an accident?

I think you better send to workshop quickly rather than asking here. Maybe some unknown internal damage is done.
