Maxis has updated their website on the data plans. It is also stated that they are "currently not selling the iPad devices".

Was hoping that their prepaid plan was cheaper but since it's not I guess it's back to rm 48 for 1.5 gb for me smile.gif

Bought mine in September 2010 for RM1950 at Low Yat. 16GB WiFi only. Looks like my hopes of getting a reasonable resale price on it just evaporated smile.gif

Anyway, it's good for the consumers that the Malaysian iPads are so aggressively priced.

I foresee a lot of buyer's remorse from people who buys one now, and the announcement of iPad 2 be made in January 2011 and launch data by second quarter 2011. This is EXACTLY like the case of the iPhone 3GS/3G last time, where the release was so late in the product cycle, new buyers gets let than half a year to feel they made a new purchase before their iPhones gets superseded by a new model.

Historically, Apple's refresh cycle is 12 months, and the current iPad announcement date was in January 27th 2010, and released on April 3rd 2010. Add 12 months/1 year product cycle on top of that, and it fits the already strong blowing rumor that a new iPad will be announced by January 2011, and release date by second quarter (April) 2011.

To new buyers, good luck. You have less than 2 months to feel the brand-newness of your "new" iPad, and less than half a year before it is superseded by a new model.

Me? I get early into the product cycle, so that I get the full 12 months of product usage before replacing with the superseding model. That way I feel I have made full use of it before I upgrade. And avoid buyer's remorse/regret.

Suit yourself. If "new display technology, USB port, gyroscope, video recording and front-facing FaceTime camera and thinner" doesn't tickle your fancy, then I guess you'll be happy with your present iPad. Just dont let me catch you buying the new one then. wink.gif

Every upgrade comes with both software and hardware improvements. There are bound to be certain features of the higher-end new models not supported by the older gen devices. You cant magically get the current gen iPad to do video recording when the hardware isn't there. OR ask it to process features that are only available on better-spec future models on older hardware. Either keep up, or stick what they provide for you with the software upgrade, after all that's the extent of what they can do with limited hardware configuration.
