I am asking here, since I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. Are iPads considered personal computers? And if so, are they eligible for the income tax relief (max of RM3000 that wan)

Sorry, dunno if I should move this thread to a finance and income tax thread discussion instead....

Yesterday i went to maxis centre the gardens and terminate my old 3g data plan namely rm 88 for 3gb...now i'm wondering which data plan should i buy for my ipad?...coz i already have broadband at home...any suggestion guys?
*
Since you already have broadband at home, do you want to buy a version with or without 3G? Coz if you are mainly surfing from home, you do not need to subscribe to any new package basically, just connect to your broadband at home (via wifi of course)

Just to clarify what was reported in TheStar today:

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...1794&sec=nation

I quote : "Hundreds of buyers queued up for hours for the launch of the Apple iPad at the Mid Valley Megamall yesterday.

They arrived as early as 8am before the official launch at 10am, so as to be among the first to buy the tablet in Malaysia."

To this I say BULLSH!T ..... I was there 3 times yesterday, 9:30 am, 12 pm and 3 pm, on all these times, there was NO LONG QUEUE WHATSOEVER! I wish I have taken some photos as evidence, The Star simply report!

Anyway finally got the iPad from MV today. Again no long queue!

For those who are still hoping the iPad2 will feature USB port, this is highly unlikely:

My iPad has been updating, or trying to install the new firmware, for more than 3 hours now. Anyone encountered this?
*
I download the big file ipsw file separately, coz my internet line is not that stable. I download directly at this address:

http://appldnld.apple.com/iPad/061-9857.20...48_Restore.ipsw

Since the size is huge (more than 500 MB, no torrent), I use a download manager to help me download. You might want to try this method.

Can we buy iPad to claim as Computer Tax Relief ??
*
I can safely say yes. Earlier I sent a mail to LHDN to ask this, and here is their reply:

>> In the case of iPad, one simple question should be answered:
>> A: Does it only have computer features?
>> OR
>> B: Does it also have handphone features in addition to computer features?
>>
>> If the answer is A, this means the purchaser is entitled to the RM3,000 relief (categorised as a personal computer). But, if the answer is B, the purchaser is not entitled to the RM3,000 relief since it cannot be categorised as a personal computer.

YAY!!! I got income tax refund next year! tongue.gif
