Thanks for all of the replies.

And thanks as well for the alternative market review. Kinda weird that the official one came short of expectation.

I had exactly the same thought when I bought Omnia 2 years ago. At that time indeed the Omnia is one of the most highest spec for a phone ever. I know racing with the technology is futile but there will still be sometime to let go for way something better. That is when you realize pricewise, it's an unfair game with other popular competitor.

As for the private info, I believe ROM flash will wipe out all if you are lazy to do it manually one by one.

Cool... finally found the way to remove the extra homescreen for TGZSJP2. It is by pinch it, then delete from there. Slightly different from the Eclair version, where there is this 'Edit' function when u press the setting button.

I downloaded the Facebook for Samsung app but can't log-in even after numerous attempts! After I submitted my account details, it will have a pop-up stating "Log-in failed. Please try later." Must have happened 6, 7 times so I got fed up.

Anyone encountered the same problem? Do I have to activate my background sync or any other setting?
*
No problem for me at all.
Just key in email account and password and it logs in smoothly.

Even a camera with flash for low light or night shots won't really give much satisfactory results.

No problems with GPS, I think people get over worked over what the guys in the US are experiencing. Cause from day 1 GPS wasn't an issue to me.

Apps wise, very satisfied.

With 1 LED flash, it's not going to make any difference.
U will be surprised that SGS with the night setting can take better pictures than those with 1 or 2 LED flash. smile.gif

I'm still deciding on my first Android and SGS deeply caught my attention.

Problem is, I was let down by the lack of flash for the camera and the so-called GPS problem.

How do you guys cope with low light or night shot?

Is the GPS problem happens even with official FW?

How about quality apps? Is the numbers satisfactory?

Just sharing my 2 cents worth....

Actually no phone is perfect. Even Iphone 4 has several problems including critical ones like antenna problem, etc.
Can you imagine...antenna problem for a phone is unforgiveable!!!
Besides their so called Facetime is not true video call because it can only be used over Wifi and not on 3G...a real handicap if you ask me...

Honestly, camera on phones are there for occasional use and it will never never be able to compare to a proper digital camera or DSLR. SGS camera is good enough for me..the picture is sharp and the HD video recording is fantastic for a phone....the video recording is even sharper and focus faster than my video recording function of my Nikon DSLR.

For me GPS on the phone is good to have but honestly, I will seldom use it for navigation on a daily basis. My car has a proper built-in GPS navigation or nowadays a proper Garmin GPS is just a few hundred RM.....unlikely we will use our SGS for navigation in the car on a daily basis coz it will probably drain a lot of battery.....

Android applications may be less than Iphone apps (for now) but the numbers are definately rising fast because it is an open platform....there are many free applications on the Market which is good enough for me at the moment...

Well, it depends what you are looking for in the phone....if you plan to use GPS daily with your phone or you need to take a lot of photos at night, then perhaps you might want to consider some other smart phones out there...

Happy hunting...shopping for phone is as fun as owning one smile.gif

Send it back for warranty, if no cracks or dents or anything, you might have a case to argue with. And it's best to just mention it isn't working right.
