Usually a factory reset gets stuff sorted.
I had to factory reset when my phone 'lost' it's wifi mac address and the wifi radio couldn't turn on.

need to backup all apps and data before do a factory reset right?...never did that all my life..LOL

After two week having the phone, this my first time insert sim card and use it as a phone .... but discover some issue which i dunno how to solve.
Poor reception, keep dc my phone call.
Black screen, hang everytime, even after call.
Call received but not ringing ...

on my 2nd day.... my phone stuck an the S logo during starting after wrongly flashed my SGS..... damn scared atm... remember sweating n palpitation that i think i could die.... lucky can flash back after that...

why you didnt use it as a phone in the past two weeks?

if your sim card is 3g activated and you also active the 3g setting, the signal that show on your phone is based on 3g network, so you will see it up and down.

i never had a single dc from this phone, except when i use the phone while lying on the bed, this is cause sometimes the sensor is not at my face so the screen will light up and my skin will push the end button.

do you apply any lag fix to your firmware? the call received but not ringing, do you check your phone ringtone?

i also never had a single drop call even though maxis reception in my area not so good.

why ? no time lah ... need to syn all contact and thanks to samsung kies ,then out station mah don't use as phone lor ...

No sure why, just always DC, after dc, u can see no network icon there ...
No lagfix, cause not root phone ....
abt phone not ringing, i do suspect because of the black screen, some time i does call the phone, light up, then hang/frez at black screen, not ringing or anything .....

No dropped calls for me, maxis only 2 bars in my area. Sometimes 1.

I am on 2G networks, not 3G so maybe thats why you have an issue?
Just send your phone in and see what the service people say.

I downloaded the Facebook for Samsung app but can't log-in even after numerous attempts! After I submitted my account details, it will have a pop-up stating "Log-in failed. Please try later." Must have happened 6, 7 times so I got fed up.

Anyone encountered the same problem? Do I have to activate my background sync or any other setting?

No, the facebook app for samsung worked the first time I used it on stock JF4 firmware. After flashing i didn't have it anymore.

No need to activate background sync or anything as far as I know.

this is what i hate to do ... their CS is abit useless and bull sh*t here (pg), they will ask leave the phone there for month and come back said nothing wrong or MB die ..
cause my ex phone change 3 time main board in 4 month time (according to local CS) ....

i heard about the black screen and freeze in XDA forum before, im sure it is cause of lagging

for your droppong calls, try this, who know it might work, setting > mobile network setting >network mode > change to 2g

why don't you backup all your data and do factory reset..and set to 2g networks only..see what happen....or just flash to another rom i.e : JPC..maybe can solve your problem...IMHO

Not to JPC, to JG8, JM5 or a later 2.1 firmware. Don't get on to 2.2 for the moment.

i sriously think its not the phone, its the firmware, as you said you been using the phone for 2 weeks with no lagfix, so im guessing you got many apps already install there. the hang/freeze/blackscreen IMO is cause by the lag, while the network is cause by the setting of 3g network.

No such thing as disable 2G, 2G is a fallback to 3G la.

Added on September 2, 2010, 2:58 amI used my phone for about 2 months without using lagfix, so I don't think it's causing the hanging.
It gets choppy, but not to the extent of hanging.

are you on DXJG4 too?

there are various report i read in at XDA that include black screen, and hang when people call until you cant even answer the call.
