QUOTE(silentser @ Aug 16 2010, 02:28 PM) just brick my phone applying lagfix 2.3 =.= what the heck did i do wrong..... What it means that dont mount the drive for yr PC to use as a removeable storage! question: it say on the instruction dont mount drive... but if i unmount the internal storage it will say error error error when running fixlag.bat In normal usage, if u want to save files into the phone external / internal storage, u will mount the sdcard for USB to access. Hope this explains. My 5cents worth of explanation..... |

QUOTE(angel-girl @ Aug 16 2010, 04:24 PM) im wonder....wat does it takes to calculate? Well, based on the explanations, QUOTE Creates a VIRTUAL EXT2 filesystem inside the stock RFS filesystem on the internal SD card, with a 4KB block size. This means that this lag fix creates a buffer between the real filesystem and the android system. This buffer should reduce the amount of disk I/O required for all operations by utilizing EXT2 buffering, as well as not writing file access times to disk, etc. ENDQUOTE So, if u can speed up the read & writes, yr system will perform better. For a PC in Windows OS, say Vista or XP or 7, the more RAM u have, the faster the OS runs as the OS will use available RAM to cache yr reads and writes instead of writing directly to HDD. Hope this explains. My 5cents worth of explaining "how to increase read/write performance...." |

Ran quadrant again, this time i got 2251!!
If u run quadrant over and over again, yr score will go higher until a certain peak is reached. This is bcoz, now all the files that is required to be used is already in the cache! As explain in my previous post. Try it yrself. My 5cents worth of explaining "how to increase read/write performance...." |

QUOTE(yc1437 @ Aug 16 2010, 09:06 PM) Based on the fix, it's using ext2.If u hv read my previous post, if the data u required is in the cache, yr quadrant will be more. Try this:- 1. Off yr HP 2. On the HP 3. Run quadrant 4. Run Quadrant again Both the 1st run and 2nd run results will be different. |

This post is for SGS users who wants to use offline GPS.
My hardware:- FW: DXJG4 One-Click Laxfix 2.3 CODE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=751864 Additional 16GB Sandisk SD. I found a android navigation software called Navit. Navit gives us Turn By Turn Navigation!! The android port can be found here: CODE http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php/Navit_on_Android U hv 2 choices to download the maps:- 1. Download the map from here: CODE http://maps.navit-project.org/download/ Be advice, for the map to be generated, u need to tell the site which area of the map u want. Once u hv "covered" the area of the map, then click the Get Map button. Rename the map to: navitmap.bin and store it to the INTERNAL sdcard root directory. 2. Download the other map from here. Be advice, the map is dated 27th July 2010. CODE http://downloads.cloudmade.com/asia/malaysia/malaysia.navit.bin.zip Be advice, the map is from OpenStreetMap therefore NOT all roads are there. CODE http://www.openstreetmap.org/ Experience with Navit: 1. When u start up Navit, the app will ask u to download the TTS (Text To Speech) apps 2. GPS working quite fast depending where u r n the weather. Yesterday evening, with a bit cloudy conditions, i got a GPS lock while i was on a train platform at the old KL Station (near to the masjid negara). While i was on the train, can't get a GPS lock at all. 3. At night, when i was in Klang, tried again, this time got a lock. Set the direction im going and did give me a Turn By Turn Navigation. Since the speech is in english, the pronunciation for our road names could be a bit tricky. Anyway, since it's free and helps me to navigate, it's good for me! My 5cents worth of GPS Navigation introduction..... This post has been edited by itman2000my: Aug 18 2010, 10:25 AM |

QUOTE(Bap3 @ Aug 20 2010, 08:04 AM) guys...i still cannot solve the gps issue...after i apply fix from XDA also cannot...it seem to take forever to lock even one satellite....damn... Let me help u in the GPS department.I hv been using GPS function in SGS and it's a blast! OK.... Follow this steps which i hv also followed. Taken from --> xda-developers * Step 1 -- Open menu > settings > Location & Security. Uncheck the box next to "Use Wireless Networks" * Step 2 -- Open the dialer (the phone button) and enter the following: *#*#1472365#*#* . Then press "send" to open the Vibrant's LbsTestMode menu. * Step 3 -- In the LBSTestMode menu, press “Application Settings” and change “Operation Mode” to “MS Based.” *** Here, i use Standalone mode as i do not hv 3G. If u hv 3G. * Step 4 -- In the LBSTestMode menu, find “SUPL/CP Settings” and change the SERVER & PORT to supl.google.com and port 7276 (DO NOT use www. in front of supl !) * Step 5 -- Reboot your phone. * Step 6 -- Open menu > settings > Location & Security. Check the box next to "Use Wireless Networks" *** NOTE: Enabling GPS to use wireless is useful if u hv 3G. If you want to reverse these changes, the original specs are: Operation Mode: Standalone SERVER: www.spirent-lcs.com PORT: 7275 Enjoy yr GPS. |
Hi, every bro. Navit not available in Android Market?
I search but couldn't find. Help?
Google it.... Added on August 23, 2010, 8:46 am
got a question for all d sifus here, if I get a SGS from Maxis with the 12 months plan, I need to pay Rm 1699 for the phone. So if I cancel or terminate the agreement immediately, how much do I have to pay? RM 500? If its like that RM 1699 + RM 500 = RM 2199 is still cheap for Ori SGS. Is this true? * i think got a calaculation for this in thread v2 i think got a calaculation for this in thread v2 Added on August 23, 2010, 2:36 am It's actually --> $1699 + RM48 (1st month data charge plan) + $500 (early termination) = $2247 ( if u already hv a call plan of 50 and above. If not, add another $50 for 1st month) Added on August 23, 2010, 8:57 am
I have also subscribed to Maxis Data plan for my new SGS....from the story I read in this forum the way Maxis charges the data usage is scary... I have 2 questions, hopefully some sifus can advise me: 1) Is it true that Maxis monthly data plan usage is divided into daily limit? Like that susah to monitor leh!!! 2) To monitor data usage, is 3G Watchdog or Netcounter more accurate? Thanks
Just a thought:- Did u disable the Accounts & Sync? If not, disable the Background data and disable Auto-sync. This post has been edited by itman2000my: Aug 23 2010, 08:57 AM |

QUOTE(emino @ Aug 24 2010, 08:37 AM) Any recommended GPS software? Maps are too hard to use on motorcycle. Can u pls explain 'map wont load'??Tried Navit as suggested in this thread, but the map wont load. I hv been using Navit from the time i got SGS and is working fine once the GPS hardware got locks on the sats. And i dare say, Navit is the best in the freeware market now as the map is only 49MB in size for entire Malaysia. And Navit is a OFFLINE navigation apps. NOTE: The roads are not complete as Navit uses OpenStreetMaps to compile the map for its use. |

QUOTE(emino @ Aug 24 2010, 10:39 AM) It just shows blank yellow area. No maps. Probably I tried the map from the first link. I'll try the second one now. When u start the application, u will see a yellow background + 2 magnifying glasses on the top left of the screen.U will see yellow UNTIL the GPS gets a fix on the sats. To know if u got a fix, yr Sat icon on the notification bar will stop blinking. Also, yr navitmap.bin file need to be store in the sdcard root folder (this is the internal sd card) |

QUOTE(engrfeez @ Aug 24 2010, 11:56 AM) The hp plays mp3 and the sound is OK when using headphones!!DCF file extension means that it is protected using:- Media file encoded with DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy-protection; used by some cell phones for saving protected ringtones, pictures, videos, and other media clips; similar to a .DM file, but the rights object, which allows the encrypted data to be played back, is contained in a separate file. Because DCF files are saved in a protected or "locked" format, they can typically only be opened using an authorized DRM-compatible cell phone. |
