i never set up the APN yet, thus just using SGS for a week. if i'm not mistaken i only turn the internet very seldom, how my usage is very expensive...

it's lesson learnt to all for beware with your browsing internet esp. those who using line Celcom..

Hi, to be safe (although not 100%), you might want to consider installing application like apndroid to switch off all data connection when you don't intend to use 3G.

If not, even if you have unchecked the Enable background data or Auto Sync boxes, you will still incur data charges when you open most downloaded applications or games....you will realise this when you install 3G Watchdog to monitor your data usage....

For SGS using firmware JG4, you can disable data connection by going to "settings>wireless n network>mobile networks>access point names>Maxis Internet>APN type". Choose MMS only.

This will disable data internet connection.

Thanks, i learnt something new today rclxms.gif

I'm using apndroid too.....but no need to reboot.....it works everytime i click or unclick....perhaps it could be the firmware?

I'm considering getting either the Steinheil Ultra Crystal or Steinheil Anti Fingerprint screen protector. Anyone has used them? Which is better?

Appreciate your feedback and advice.

Thanks

crystal = better clarity of the screen but not fingerprint resistant
fingerprint-grainy screen(reduced clarity) but no fingerprint on it

What about the Ultra Oleophobic ones?

I suggest Oleophobic. It clear and less sticky than crystal clear.

Thank for advice....I'm thinking of getting the oleophobic now smile.gif

Hi,

Anyone using the Case Mate Tough Series case for the SGS?
Rizal77?

I checked their website...they don't have one for SGS i9000. The one that looks the closest is SGS Vibrant. Is Vibrant the same as our SGS i9000 in Malaysia?

Thanks

I'm still deciding on my first Android and SGS deeply caught my attention.

Problem is, I was let down by the lack of flash for the camera and the so-called GPS problem.

How do you guys cope with low light or night shot?

Is the GPS problem happens even with official FW?

How about quality apps? Is the numbers satisfactory?
*
Just sharing my 2 cents worth....

Actually no phone is perfect. Even Iphone 4 has several problems including critical ones like antenna problem, etc.
Can you imagine...antenna problem for a phone is unforgiveable!!!
Besides their so called Facetime is not true video call because it can only be used over Wifi and not on 3G...a real handicap if you ask me...

Honestly, camera on phones are there for occasional use and it will never never be able to compare to a proper digital camera or DSLR. SGS camera is good enough for me..the picture is sharp and the HD video recording is fantastic for a phone....the video recording is even sharper and focus faster than my video recording function of my Nikon DSLR.

For me GPS on the phone is good to have but honestly, I will seldom use it for navigation on a daily basis. My car has a proper built-in GPS navigation or nowadays a proper Garmin GPS is just a few hundred RM.....unlikely we will use our SGS for navigation in the car on a daily basis coz it will probably drain a lot of battery.....

Android applications may be less than Iphone apps (for now) but the numbers are definately rising fast because it is an open platform....there are many free applications on the Market which is good enough for me at the moment...

Well, it depends what you are looking for in the phone....if you plan to use GPS daily with your phone or you need to take a lot of photos at night, then perhaps you might want to consider some other smart phones out there...

Happy hunting...shopping for phone is as fun as owning one smile.gif

i think Samsung Task Manager is not available in stock set.....

I only got it after flashing to Froyo JP1....
*
When I flashed my SGS to JG4, the task manager is already automatically installed. Only JF4 doesn't have it.

What do you mean by top part exposed?

I just ordered the Steinheil Oleophobic SP. It only has a cut out for the speaker slot. The rest is covered. Check out their website for more info.
