Damn, why lah Jetta, How come the Jetta Passat and MPV for what?
I want PoLO to be in same price level as Ford Fiesta and Vios, so i can smoke the Vios anytime. even i have a little less power. Due to DSG.. haha.. Dont know will it happen a not? Also my ultimate is Golf... 160Ps man.. for a 1.4 engine and DSG .. But price also at 155K. |

QUOTE(sonyman @ Aug 22 2010, 10:08 PM) MPV is the most popular vehicle segment in Malaysia. VW is not stupid.Polo = City/Vios level although probably closer to Jazz/Yaris Jetta = Civic/Altis level Passat = Accord/Camry level Makes sense for them to go for Jetta and Passat first. The Jetta is not the prettiest or most popular car around but the Polo is a hatchback compared to City/Vios which are sedans so again in the eyes of Malaysian buyers it'll always be lower class and undesirable. Only the Jetta and Passat CKD gives VW a fighting chance of getting some sort of marketshare in Malaysia against Toyota and Honda. At one point in the US VW used to appeal to the hearts of the buyers by marketing themselves as German quality at Japanese car prices. I wonder if they'll do the same here. Would be great news if Passat is CKD'ed, brings the price considerably lower and more affordable.
Have no idea why they are going for MPV though, the market share for this segment is dominated by the T and H |

the latest jetta is good. so the chances to capture market share is there. The fight with camry/accord they need cheaper passat, hence CKD is the only answer.

I think that the Jetta is a good car to make CKD versions here. I think in Malaysia, we are more inclined towards sedan cars hence they might want to break into that market.

Not sure how reliable but they do sell VW so I'd take their word for it till otherwise... I too would hope it would be Polo and Golf... QUOTE(meteoraniac @ Aug 23 2010, 09:35 AM) Would be great news if Passat is CKD'ed, brings the price considerably lower and more affordable. the thing is that I think no one knows yet which Passat they're gonna CKD over here... there are 2 different Passats in the market where one is made in China using a normal engine (not 2.0) and the other should be the better 2.0 engine.Have no idea why they are going for MPV though, the market share for this segment is dominated by the T and H |

i wonder if VW Polo 1.2 is underpowered/enough power?
Is it suitable for long distance travelling (e.g. KL to Kelantan)? |
