Sorry I'm not really good at this. But if I'm about to install a new SSD into my laptop, do I need to install some firmwares/drivers/etc to make it perform? Or do I just pasang it and install like a normal HDD? This is the SSD I have. http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memory-...ge/MZ-5PA256/USPlease advise.

I would not say it will be very slow, it will be slower in sequential read, write, but for other like random seek, it will be still very fast. You will not actually feel the difference in daily use between sata 3 vs 2

You will not actually feel the difference in daily use between sata 3 vs 2 for daily use, true enough. no big difference. u wont even feel it. but just the feeling of having something fast and not able to get the speed is sometimes gets to u, coz it is like half of the speed u shud be getting... but if u have future plan to upgrade the mobo that wont be a waste. Intel 520 Series SSD to Utilize SandForce ControllerQUOTE The new Intel 520 Series SSD will be backed by Intel's 5-year warranty, upholding to Intel's long-standing reputation on reliability. This does question if Intel has modified the SandForce SF-22xx controller's firmware with its own "tweak" to help with its widely known random BSOD issues. The original release of the Intel 520 Series SSD was slated for November, now come and gone. This leaves us to believe the drive is set to be released any time--but based on the information provided by Softpedia, it looks more like a Q1 2012 release date. 5 years on SF controller

Since my 300GB raptor just crashed on me after 3 years of use (bought 2008), i was looking to replace it with a SSD. For the OS drive (Win 7 64-bit) i was thinking of getting a Corsair Force 3 60GB drive. And maybe get a 1TB / 2TB Seagate baracuda for programs and stuff. (i still have 2 x WD 320GB holding my data). Oh yeah, it's going into a slightly aged P45 Asus Maximus II board. It's Sata II but yeah it should still be faster than any mechanical HDD even without the Sata III support (right ?) Opinions ? Many thanks. Update: Oops, it's alive after all. Guess my SSD upgrade will have to wait. Update #2: Nope, it's flip flopping between OK and not OK. Going to give the SATA cable a change, since the Raptor can be read fine from Ubuntu and copying files is no issue. SMART diagnostics gave it a clear as well. Guys,
Anybody know retailers in Malaysia selling higher capacity mini Sata SSD?
I want to upgrade my Win 7 tablet (MSI Windpad 110W - 32GB) to either 80GB or 120GB. Most of the retailers that I've called up seems to be selling the 2.5in SATA SSD not mSata.

true, in my short research on the sandforce SSDs, it's not very comforting. If i do go for an SSD, Intel would be my top choice, mainly for the reliability.
