QUOTE(hnr2802 @ Oct 18 2010, 12:30 AM) imo 3 years is ok. 1 more thing, i search google but cant find any info regarding ssd price trends. like u said ssd is quite young in the market. but i dont want to wait 5 years until ssd is dirt cheap, before i can buy ths thing. so i wanna know whether the ssd price will drop significantly early next year or not. There is no "waiting game" in PC hardware's technology
You wait price drop, some new tech unveiled, you are left behind

QUOTE(romentheposmen @ Dec 24 2010, 12:40 AM) wah, this really scares me. the stated mtbf is 1.2 million hours but i've heard the failure rate for a drive is 0.5% which is pretty high. Nothing "figurative" in PC hardware especially drive
For me, all depend on luck, usage and how you take care of it

QUOTE(acther @ Jan 20 2011, 03:41 PM) Jus get oem intel fr owikh la, retail is way expensive n I don see any reason ssd will fail with proper use after a period of time Well, SSD lifespan/durability is not like processor. Both products R&D & QA is not the same. Processor you can use for 20 years, but SSD are made by flash chip like the pen-drive technology just that they well packed like a drive.
If you ask me, I rather go for Retail for SSD (3 Years Warranty) = Based on RMA rate for all SSD I have sold (Intel, OCZ, Mushkin or Corsair)
If processor, I fully suggest you get OEM if you manage to find one

QUOTE(Kiding @ Nov 26 2011, 12:11 AM) My Intel X18-M 160GB also had exactly the same issue with you, and the SSD is dead, A smart attribute 184 (B8) error indicates End-to-End error, from the Intel communities forum, it is because of the bad cache in the SSD controller. Is your SSD bought from the lowyat forum seller which sell OEM Intel SSD at very cheap price? I got my Intel SSD 160GB at RM350, I thought it was a good deal, now I realized again cheap stuff doesn't come with quality. the cheap OEM SSD should be a much inferior version that fail easily. Next time buy stuff with local / full warranty. Most SSD provide 3 years warranty Now you are RM350 poorer QUOTE(MazeLoL @ Nov 26 2011, 12:25 AM) Wanna ask is SSD are a good buy nowadays? coz in my personal view, SSD nowadays is freaking expensive and Storage size is sooooo small...Btw do u guys think the price will drop next year Q1 or Q2? because i was thinking to get one of those into my rig....now The seller saying my setup is bonenecking because of the HDD..=.= Wait till you see current price for 500GB & 1TB price QUOTE(zs3889 @ Nov 26 2011, 01:24 AM) there is a deal going on this website, which ends by the end of the day. the price is $149.99, but it gives a $79.99 mail in rebate, which makes it $70.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...&Tpk=20-167-047i know its super worth it but this is my first ssd and i dont quite know which brand too choose. so far based on customer reviews on these stores, crucial has the best rating, is intel on par with crucial? in terms on quality and reliability. thanks Got problem then send back to US? So how much do you think you need to fork out to claim a single RMA? In the end, the hassle & cost more compared when you buy locally
