QUOTE(DecaPix @ Aug 5 2010, 10:53 PM) @CKHong, here's what i done to root my phone. Download the stock ROM from XDA at:This guide is based on xda as well as from maliqu3’s blog Xda site is as below: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709146 maliqu3’s blog: http://smarty-money.blogspot.com/2010/07/g...-phone-new.html First of all, make sure your phone is fully charged. Having your battery die on you halfway flashing will quite certainly brick it. Download the stock ROM from XDA at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 Keep it in safe place label it as Stock ROM or something. You need 3 files. 1. Unrevoked - http://unrevoked.com/recovery/ You will get reflash_package.exe 2. Android USB driver - http://c40c9a9c.linkbucks.com/ You will get android-usb-driver.zip 3. HTC Sync - http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportDownload.asp...cat=3&dl_id=933 You will get _HTC Legend_HTCSync.exe Run the reflash package and extract it to a folder. Name it unrevoked or something. Extract the Android USB driver into another folder. Name it Android USB Driver or something. Install the HTC Sync on to the PC. The go to Control Panel and uninstall it. But leave the HTC driver installer there. Reboot PC if required. Turn off your phone, then boot it into the HBOOT menu by holding power and volume down. Connect the phone to your Windows machine with a USB cable and wait for the phone to say HBOOT USB PLUG on screen Open Device Manager. Click Start, then right click on Computer, then click Properties, then click Device Manager. Under Other devices, you should now see the Android 1.0 device. With a “!” mark Right click on Android 1.0 and click Update Driver Software. Click on Browse my computer for driver software. Click on Browse and select the Android USB Driver folder on your computer, click ok, then click next You should get a status bar indicating that the driver is installing. If you get any warnings, just click Ok. Your driver should install. Click Close and make sure Android Bootloader Interface is listed under Android Phone. Reboot PC if required. Disconnect the phone and switch it on as normal. With Desire go to Settings > Connect to PC > Default connection type > Disk drive then Untick ‘Ask Me’ Then go to Settings > Applications > Development > Make sure USB Debugging is ticked. Then go back to Applications and make sure Unknown Sources is ticked. Start the reflash.exe in Admin mode (Right Click > Run as Admin (Only required for Windows Vista + 7) Connect your Desire. Wait (it should take about 1-2 minutes) Then, your Desire should be in recovery mode! Hit reboot. You should now have 'Superuser Permission' in applications menu (it means your phone is rooted now) and you are done!! The phone is rooted! Go to the Android Market and download an app called ‘Titanium Backup‘. Open it and tap the ‘Problems‘ button to install BusyBox. Then hit Menu Button > Batch > Backup All Apps + System Data Wait for it to finish. Turn off your phone & turn it back on holding POWER + VOL DOWN then use vol up/down to scroll down to ‘Recovery‘ and power to select. When you see the recovery screen, use the trackball to scroll to ‘Nandroid‘ and press the trackball to select. Then select ’Backup‘ (You can also use ‘Restore’ to restore) Boot up the phone as normal. Connect the USB cable. Find the Nandroid folder with a “backup” folder in it Copy this to your PC Find the Titanium Backup folder and copy it to your PC. All done! Now it’s ready to flash new ROM! I see lots of ROM in here.. anyone know which one I should use? I'm using Maxis set here... and 1st time trying to root & flash d phone.. -I've check my phone and it show 1.19.707.7... so meaning I have to download this file, right? "RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe" This post has been edited by awiekupo: Aug 6 2010, 09:24 PM |

Added on August 6, 2010, 9:51 pmFlashed to NexTSense 3.4 by Neophyte. This is so much better and fast too! Best ever i've used. the 720p recording is the best i've tried. no lag when recording fast movements. probably will stay with this longer. I love OpenDesire but there are somethings that doesnt fit me. btw guys any info on where to get the Android Keyboard? This post has been edited by LuffyPSP: Aug 6 2010, 09:56 PM |

I have a question, for the 1st time since I bought my Desire I actually managed to crash it and made it restart for the very 1st time.
What I did: Open up camera, switch to video mode, use mpeg4 encoding + 720p reso, start capture, shake the phone from left to right and back to left repeatedly very fast and then it hanged. Anybody else experienced this? |

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Aug 6 2010, 10:16 PM) I'll stick with Neophyte NexTSense for some time, seems to be the best ROM so far - very responsive and stable The android keyboard. Its included in the OpenDesire ROM. It was so accurate tht i luv it so much. N yeah for me the best custom rom so far. Btw, what keyboard are you talking about? QUOTE(DecaPix @ Aug 6 2010, 11:24 PM) No bugs at all. Perfect, fast n stable. Just take some time to be fast after first boot. N make sure you do a full wipe. |

Try 3.4a, apparently even the HTC IME Mod force-close is fixed now
By the way, A2SD+ is really good to use - it's troublesome to create the ext partition at first (since you need to backup SD card), but it's eventually trouble free after that. I have given enough time to the Froyo's version of A2SD, but it's quite disappointing - it is still occupying a lot of space in Phone memory although the install is done in SD (especially for those >10MB apps, it will still use up at least 2-3MB in phone), and for now not much apps support the native froyo A2SD yet |

I think the main difference is the save battery version didn't actually save battery cos of wrong settingdamn 3.4a already? the difference is? It is fixed now (as we speak, the latest version now is 4.0 This post has been edited by samurai1337: Aug 7 2010, 08:46 AM |

Ok... managed to find the culprit... it seems that when I did a nandroid system recovery, my radio was reverted to old version... What I did: Open up camera, switch to video mode, use mpeg4 encoding + 720p reso, start capture, shake the phone from left to right and back to left repeatedly very fast and then it hanged.
