no harm rooting ur phone, it's easy to do it now btw. u dont need to be afraid that u cant flash the official froyo rom which is coming up soon, coz u still can flash the rooted version of original(official) froyo rom later on that enhances the features of ur phone.

If you use Swype, pinch-and-zoom works after you reboot your phone...
*
u dont need to reboot it. just change the keyboard to default in 'input method' if u are using eclair. fyi, in froyo it works well, no such problem.

@pluginbaby, how do you disable the default keyboard so that swype will appear?

or it only works with swype 1.60?
*
when you are typing a message, tap n hold message box till a window pops up then tap input method and select swype (u have to tick the swype first in settings>Language and Keyboard)

if you guys really want to taste Official Froyo ROM [rooted version], this is the only one that works perfectly.
Rooted Official HTC Android 2.2 (FroYo) ROM I'm using it now, and it's awesome.

Guys should i flash the official rooted 2.2 like maliqu3 posted (i'm on maxis set btw, can I?) or OpenDesire?
*
QUOTE(draco82 @ Aug 2 2010, 08:59 AM)
Is the ext partition for A2SD still work with this rom?
*
QUOTE(motopolah @ Aug 2 2010, 10:49 AM)
after i flash Official Froyo ROM [rooted version], i still need to do the partition rite? just follow the guide at ur blog?
*
let me tell u something, my Desire is maxis set and if u want to feel original of froyo in rooted version, flash the rom from the link i gave. since it's original (not much changes), u dont need partition (u can only use native a2sd anyway). the rom is rooted and installed busybox only, so we can say it's original froyo in rooted version.

Yup, I did not root my  but you need to create goldcard to get firmware 1.21 (for euro) installed 1st and then upgrade to 2.2 via OTA. Follow my link, since it has an apps to ease on goldcard creation process. smile.gif
*
what happen to ur hboot now? upgraded to 0.92 or still at 0.80?

What is busybox ?
Alright, do I need goldcard for that ? And just follow your rooting process or ? Sorry. First timer blush.gif
*
if u havent rooted, then u need a gold card to root it [maxis set only, coz maxis set is locked phone] if u root it using old method. however if u root it using unrevoked, u dont need a gold card.

QUOTE(motopolah @ Aug 2 2010, 11:28 AM)
ok..
i did my nandroid backup.. but i cant see it in my sd card..is it in any special folder that i miss look?
*
maybe u need to do nandroid backup again, coz if it's successfull u can find the folder.

They are not even answering the question. Of course Froyo will be here. Its just a matter of when and they never answer that. Keep waiting then tongue.gif
*
haha, yeah you're right. so if u guys dont want to wait any longer, then root ur phone and feel the latest original froyo in rooted version. if u want to try official froyo with old a2sd/a2sd+ feature, u can try different rom. but my suggestion flash the rom from the link i gave. the other roms are developed by new devs (and too much changes) so it's kinda not promising i think since i want to feel the closest to original one.

I hope with Froyo, it now speeds up the changes to application to support App2SD. Thats the only reason for me though tongue.gif In terms of performance & battery life, is there any significant difference?
*
in froyo now i can play asphalt without lagging and it's even fast&smooth now. let's hope all the apps can support native a2sd, coz it's still few of them that can support it. but still, a2sd+ will always be better than native a2sd since a2sd+ can save more internal memory.

One question about the native App2SD though. When you install application, will it prompt you to install to SD (like what WinMo does) or it automatically goes into the SD card? Nice to know at least its faster and smoother smile.gif
*
mostly all the apps will be installed into ur phone automatically and u have to move the apps to sd manually. however, some apps that have supported native a2sd might install into sd card, such as Skies of Glory.

is it possible if i dont want to do the nandroid backup.. juz flash the rom directly..
*
maybe ur card is corrupted or did u plug in ur phone while trying to do nandroid? actually, u can skip the nandroid backup if u think u dont want to return to ur phone's current state in the future.

How do i know where are they installed? Do we have option to select where do we want to install them?
as i said, all the apps will install into internal memory automatically and u have to move it manually from Settings if u want the apps to be installed in sd [no options during installation].

Need to clear something in my mind for flashing steps;

1)Root my device(DONE!)
2)Backup Nandroid
3)Run Titanium Backup
4)Flash my chosen custom ROM
5)Restore files using Titanium Backup again.

a) thats it right? btw whats with the Radio? do i need it? i see some got with radio and some dont. what is it for and why?

b) and about Titanium backup, i just backup all the stuffs, and restore them all just like kan?

c) and all my settings/preferences/options for my apps will not be lose right(for example fonts, colours, etc)?

d) and one more thing, all of my purchased apps from Paid market still be useable kan? or need to download again?
*
yes, ur step is correct.
a. new radio is needed so that u can use new features from ur phone such as recording 720p.
b. yup
c. u will lose everything after u flash new rom.
d. ur paid apps are are saved in google account, u can always get them back even if u have formatted ur phone. download again or restore from titanium backup.

Well, sooner or later HBOOT 0.92 is gonna get rooted as well tongue.gif
*
let's hope it's true, coz some say the official froyo has become more difficult to hack. htc wants their products to be unhackable.

you better root ur phone, coz right now i'm using original froyo(rooted version) and my internal is down to 60mb now since not all apps can be moved to sd. mostly apps cant be moved to sd, so it's kinda useless using native a2sd, i installed half of my favorite apps btw. when i have a2sd+ and install all my favorite apps, my memory still around 120mb.

If u want to flash official froyo, u need to flash the latest radio. For ur apps use titanium to restore.

But can you format it directly? Cause last i tried, its not working with the OpenDesire. When i format the SD card, it hangs.
*
Yes, it will hang. That's why u need to restart ur phone and format again till it can be mounted back

Set ur display brightness to automatic. And u can read it then.

Thats the problem. When it hangs, i need to force quit. And when i force quit and restart, it cant recognize the SD anymore, probably because its corrupted. sad.gif
*
Nope, ur card aint corrupted. After restart, u format sd card again until u can mount it back. Trust me it works and that's the only way.
