I read your post here and others test report on your blog. All those reports are informative. I have a question here; can I replace the poor and suck Maxis Fibre Broadband wireless router (from Techicolor) with Asus N66U?

Generally, my issue is I have subscribed the voice from Maxis too, which is connected to the voice port of the Techicolor Wireless router! Now I am trying to setup an Access Point (connecting via LAN to the Techicolor wireless router), to enchance the wireless strength/performance with another router. Can I use N66U to do that? How?

Any other better recommendation from you?

There is a workaround for everyone who wants to use ASUS (or in fact any other brand) routers for Internet access with Maxis Fibre + ASTRO IPTV.

1. Unfortunately, in order for ASTRO services to remain working 100%, you HAVE to use the Maxis-supplied router as well. There is no way around this currently.

2. Set up the ASUS router normally, but when it comes to WAN connection, you must select Automatic IP. The IPTV settings have to be turned OFF (i.e. no VLAN tagging).

3. Connect any of the Maxis router LAN ports to ASUS router's WAN port.

4. Set the DMZ of the Maxis router to the ASUS router's WAN MAC address.

5. ASTRO IPTV and VOIP services remain directly connected to Maxis router. I use 3rd-party VOIP, so I connect to ASUS but I think Maxis VOIP have to use Maxis router.

6. Turn off Maxis router wireless. You will still be able to access Maxis router settings.

Internet connection is more or less rock-solid; every now and then have to reboot ASUS router to get new IP. The ASUS router can override the Maxis router's DNS server settings, so make sure you configure ASUS router's DNS settings.

I Purchased the Asus rt-n65u to replace the standard unifi router beacuse i wanted faster wifi reception and now after setting up the router everything is working fine except for when i am playing online games.

It's really laggy and keeps spiking (always 150-200+ ping)
This never happened when i was using the default unifi router. I tried changing some settings on the router to prioritize bandwith for gaming but
seems the problem still persists. Can anybody help me find a solution please.

I was surveying for asus router to replace my unifi stock router bcos i cant stream my pptv movies in my hi media q6 II android tv box. Im using 10mbps . Im surprised that u said stock router can play online games without lagging. Your model is dual band router right, did u change setting to 5ghz band? Have u tried using lan cable and see any difference?

Yes i believe it is a dual band router. I tried direct connection and its also lagging.
But i havent changed the setting to 5ghz maybe thats my mistake, ill try it now and see how from there.

guys just got myself a Asus RT-N56U any feedback about this modem using for Unifi..hmmm got the latest firmware frm asus web on it..should i use any custom firmware on it?

I am not able to connect my VPN with router RT-N66U + unifo modem.

My setup for DDNS is using xxx.asuscomm.com (for aicloud using sucessful)

VPC setup was base on configuration guideline http://support.asus.com/Search/KDetail.asp...19EBB508A99&t=2

In window 7 computer VPN setup host name are assign as xxx.asuscomm.com same as my aicloud DDNS.
however when i try connect with my vpn client user and password it come our error 619 and not able to connect.

Is that anything i miss out. Thanks in advance..
