astro's new update for its IPTV PVR is creating some new issues for alternative router users... Still testing, but doesn't look good.

I bought Asus RT-N15U recently , and installed the latest shibby tomato firmware on it. I have a problem tho,

I've setup 4 wifi,

I can connect to first and second, which is WL0 and WL0.1, but I can't connect to WL0.2 and WL0.3.

Anyone familiar with Shibby's build could help me out? Asides from the setting here what else do I need to set to make it work?

Hi wan1912,

Do update the firmware to the latest first and do a factory reset.

http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTN56U/#support

And from my understanding, the UNIFI is not same with your OCC UNIFI portal account. You will need to call up UNIFI to request for the username and password.

Once you have updated the firmware, you can follow the youtube below to do the setting.

Please note that ASTRO IPTV using Maxis FTTH is an exercise in patience and ultimately futility at the present moment.

I still haven't figured out how to make the ASUS RT-N16 recognise an IP reset (which Maxis does every 48 hours for some unknown reason) without resetting it or unplugging the LAN cable, when plugged into the Technicolor router, which I have done.

Very glad to hear it! biggrin.gif

Would you happen to be using Automatic IP and using the ASUS router address as the Maxis router's DMZ? I am, and every 2 days without fail my Internet will die because Maxis resets the public IP address and my ASUS router doesn't realise it's been reset.

If you're using the ASUS router in place of the Maxis router and ASTRO IPTV works perfectly, I would greatly appreciate your settings, so that I can throw away the POS Technicolor router.

Nope.

I have DMZ on the Technicolor on LAN port 2.

On Asus, I connect the cable from WAN to LAN port 2 on Technicolor. I then set PPPOE with Maxis username and password.

ALso, under the LAN > IPTV, I set the following:

Select ISP Profile: None
Choose IPTV STB Port: 1 & 2
Use DHCP routes: Microsoft
Enable multicast routing (IGMP Proxy): Enable
Enable efficient multicast forwarding (IGMP Snooping): Enable
UDP Proxy(Udpxy): 0

Hi,

I'm using RT-N16 for about 2 yrs. Recently I noticed that when connected to LAN port, it is only showing 100Mbps instead of 1Gbps.

I had the router update to the latest firmware as well, but still the same.

Is it the board issue?

Hi cyclone2,

Can help check is all the LAN port showing same result? Have you tried other LAN cable which is Cat5e or better? Is other notebook or desktop with gigabit LAN port having the same problem? And have you try updating the LAN driver for your PC or notebook?

Thank you

Hi,

I noticed there is 2 port having the same result, 1 port was connected to NAS, and 1 port was cascaded to another gigabit switch, both also showing 100Mbps. I tried the same LAN cable used for NAS to connect directly to my PC, it is showing 1Gbps.

Hi cyclone2,

May I know what model of NAS and the gigabit switch that you are using? And will it show 1Gbps if you are transferring or streaming video from the NAS?

Thank you

Hi,

The NAS is synology ds210j, the system in nas is detected only 100mbps when connected to rt-n16,NAS show 1Gbps when connect to pc directly.

As the cascading gigabit switch is dlink 8 port cannt remember model... i connected the dlink gigabit switch to dlink dir655 which is gigabit switch router it showing green light on the port which is 1Gbps.

Hi KrankZ,

Try updating the firmware to the latest, which is 3.0.0.4.374.4561.

http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTAC66U/HelpDesk_Download/

And may I ask, the place that you put the router, is the YES able to detect any signal?

If you already updated the firmware to the latest already and the signal able to detect the signal, do provide us the setting and the log file to let us have a check on it.

I will PM you my e-mail address.

Thank you

Hi lanux128,

When you choose UNIFI-Home at our router, the LAN 4 port will be reserve for the hypptv. So just plug in the LAN cable between the LAN port 4 and the STB box and you are done.

Thank you
