Just bought RT-N16 (from c-zone) and surprisingly it came with dd-wrt out of the box with build 14896.

My question is:
1. Is this from official asus or someone mess with this thing already (I know c-zone listed in their pricelist dd-wrt beside the router name so that might explain it).

2. Do I need to flash to asus's firmware to rma (asking it just in case).

Setting up was easy eventhough I haven't mess around with router-only device for years. Modem is TP-Link W8960N which.. doesn't need any setting whatsoever (default already bridge mode) so just plug in the ethernet (TP-Link) to wan (Asus) and good to go (of course already change the required local ip addresses).

i bought the rt-n13u and using it as second wireless router. however, under the AP or repeater mode, the ftp using the asusscom.com and print server is not working by default, unless someone can clarify that it does working.

anyone know how can set up in router mode to bridge from my 1st wireless router with internet connection?

reason why i am using this rt-n13u as 2nd wireless because of different location.

i am using the rt-n13u as repeater mode and it was working earlier but since 2 days ago, i have problem getting internet connection despite it show connected.

i checked the log, and found this:

Jan 1 00:00:05 dhcp client: deconfig: lease is lost
Jan 1 00:00:05 kernel: klogd started: BusyBox v1.12.1 (2010-09-30 19:30:44 CST)
Jan 1 00:00:05 kernel: PROC INIT OK!
Jan 1 00:00:05 kernel: devpts: called with bogus options
Jan 1 00:00:06 syslog: Password for 'admin' changed
Jan 1 00:00:07 dhcp client: bound IP : 192.168.2.101 from 192.168.2.1
Jan 1 00:00:08 WAN Connection: WAN was exceptionally disconnected.
Jan 1 00:00:31 dhcp client: deconfig: lease is lost
Jan 1 00:00:31 dhcp client: bound IP : 192.168.2.101 from 192.168.2.1

i wonder anyone encounter similar issue? and i realise dd-wrt mentioned widely here. can it perform as repeater as well. wonder it will be better or not using this firmware.

Yes ddwrt has repeater mode.
From the ddwrt forums, it is widely agreed that Broadcom based routers are the best for repeater mode, and also the easiest to set up.
Since the RT-N13U is Ralink based I doubt it would perform better than the stock firmware as a repeater... unless (maybe) your main router is also Ralink based and is also flashed with ddwrt.

Anyways you can read more about it here:

Nah, Unifi currently still no limit. smile.gif

I was asking if you can seed using download master. I have 2 choice now:

1. D-Link 615 - bridge with Asus RT-N13U B1 with DD-WRT - use transmission to seed torrent. Pro : Can seed without switching on computer. Con : Have to use D-Link ie 1 additional stuff to plug in.

2. Asus RT-N13U B1 with beta firmware. ( no need D-Link 615 anymore) - currently I see download master can only download (not seed), so if I need to seed I need to seed in the PC. If it can, that that will be the best.

Well probably the best is when DD-WRT can do the Vlan tagging for Unifi properly...

Yes, it can support vlan.500 (internet only) nod.gif
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=81&Itemid=77

On my case a bit strange, after I create and tagged vlan2.500, re-booted again, I went back to the vlan tagging tab, somehow the vlan2.500 didn't show up on WAN Port Assignment.

I click on other tabs, wait for about 1min and go back, then it show up ! blink.gif

So I just proceed to assign it to WAN port and unbridged both vlan2 & vlan2.500, Saved-->Apply Settings --> Re-boot again

and it works without fail, noticed the interface is smooth & responsive, been torrenting almost 24hours heavily still kicking alive, could be due to the 2x ram size tongue.gif

However, the wifi transfer rate seem slightly lower than on stock firmware, not sure whether it's my setting issue or dd-wrt driver issue .... hmm.gif

And maybe you can convince the Asus engineer to put in transmission to the stockfirmware too. smile.gif
