if the rt-n16 already flashed to ddwrt... just us web gui upgrade page to upgrade to tomato usb. Select clear nvram after flash. Then you use chromium web browser. it will auto translate the language to english. Yup it is good for load balancer but not stable as access point. But if we hooked another access point to the router should be no problem. RT N-16 download this for Dual WAN: http://www.dualwan.cn/index.php/download/c...alwan-1.28.0518- Open the folder, open Firmware_8M folder - find this file tomato-K26USB-1.28.0518-MIPSR2-8M.trx - Rename this file to bin tomato-K26USB-1.28.0518-MIPSR2-8M .bin- then flash it using ddwrt web gui upgrade page - Load Balancer for Cheap router This post has been edited by tictac: Dec 13 2010, 03:27 PM

I'm looking for some help with my RT-N16 router. My network is a little complicated so I'm going to give some background info. Network Topology- My network gateway to the internet is set at 192.168.1.1. It is an Aztech modem/router
- Debian server at Port 1 of Aztech router. Connection is on eth1
- Asus RT-N16 is to be set on Debian server eth0
- Debian server is to act as firewall + wireless network monitor using IP_tables and Wireshark
- IP range for Asus RT-N16 clients is a Class B range with a /29 subnet mask so that I may limit the number of wireless clients
Issues- What mode should the Asus RT-N16 be set on (gateway, router, AP)?
- What should the IP address for the RT-N16 be? I understand that this is dependant on the mode selected in question 1
- Any ideas or hints (for example, do I really need to subnet the RT-N16 clients?)
Any help would be very much appreciated

you guys really IT loyal fans, willing spend so much for a router.
if one do frequent visit IT mall, one should be able to 'detect' 2 type of extremist customers - "oh, all in one modem/router rm100 expensive ya" and the other type just pick the most expensive stuff and straight pay at counter...hahaha

Its simply I pick the best that will fit my situation. In this case the Asus RT-N16 is 1 of the fastest routers I've had the pleasure of messing with. Even with QoS-ing the slowdown is minimal.

Just used their routerOS on a spare desktop before. Thats why I said its the best I've played with Not the best of all.

Cheapest I found yesterday was at IT Hub (upstairs in Low Yat, near All IT) for RM359. If you know someone coming back from the US, they're quite a bit cheaper there - RM270 or thereabouts.
