What's good with such speeds when every mb counts?
You would have to pay close to RM100 for every DVD sized content(4.3GB) you download.

YES is only for light usage or maybe medium usage

My dongle works fine on Macbook but when I plugged into Windows Vista, there is no Connect button. The status keep showing Please insert your Go.

My USB ports work fine with other devices, but somehow Windows didn't recognize the Go dongle (although Network Manager can be installed during the first time I plugged the dongle in. Kinda weird.

Anyone face the same issue here?

downloading DVD using mobile broadband is never been a viable option. if i'm not mistaken only P1 offers up to 20GB of data quota per month right?
if your quota below than 20GB per month, you shouldn't download 4GB file in the first place.

We come back to the very basic and root of the question...

Why is there the need to have such high speed packages such as 10mbps?
When most of you come and tell me that you're light users.

You don't need 10mbps to surf sites or IM.
You don't need such speeds to enjoy a good MMO game, you need latency.
A good 3-4mbps line is more than enough to get you those small files without much frustration.

Absolutely agree with ipohbee in this case...

If you're a light user [The target in YES's case] (e.g. IM, e-mail, FB) 2 Mbps is ENOUGH..... no significant lags or anything like that will be noticed if the line quality is good (No jitter, Low latency etc)

I don't get why YES offers such a fast network for a disproportionate light use.... 10 Mbps... for web surfing? GIMME A BREAK!

can somebody pls enlighten me......
i'm a tech noob........just want to enquire roughly how much data we could be using, if
let's say my children are playing online games like DOTA, MFO, etc
from 8am to 10pm daily, while myself watching online TV/movies i.e
PPS, Xunlei, PPtv, youtube, etc
so, what would be the rough estimate of my data usage in a month?
heard that YES speed is incredible.......however, afraid at the end of the month (or the billing date) the amount is MUCH MORE INCREDIBLE!!, so anyone out there who could roughly tell me
what would my data usage be?
thks in advance

For one 5 minutes YouTube clip would be about 40 MB which cost Rm 3.60. I better spend this money at mamah stall some more got free wifi! For the speed of 5mbs the download speed is 1 MB/s which is RM 0.03/s = RM 1.80/min = RM 108.00/hour. Cheap ?

erm if u watch everyday, i'm sure your bill would be very high. online game doesn't take up much data. but it's the streaming movies that takes up a lot.

free wifi not fast, maybe some ppl hates waiting for streaming and don't mind paying say RM30 per month if they don't stream that often.

If you fully use it, it would cost you easily thousands per month. Thanks to the high speed!

How often is not so often? Research carried out recently people spend easily 1 hour per day online . Say watch YouTube for half an hour a day , to me is not so much just watch a few clips that would already cost you RM 10/day. A month would easily RM 300.00

Generally YES is for light user , no for Gaming . light user is for people use this for second broadband options. YES speed is better than 3G broadband. but as of coverage .. it cant bet 3G yet.

i'm using YES for second broadband options. But i think i wont last long as their customer service never pickup your phone or returned back your call. even the yescare email never reply back your emai. can we sue YTL for thier pooooooor service?

they launch their wimax to escape fine from goverment that what ppl say, yet the government let this YES to cheat on rakyat. damn poor malaysian.

soon i'll say bye bye to 'GO' device to lelong. for RM50 .

anyone who share the same experience???

should we give YTL choice and chance to cheat us . rclxub.gif

p/s anyone who think to change their current broadband service to YES ,please think throughly not twice.

YTL = YES Time Leave.. i think they should do this before.. it become worst.. p1 now aggressively ..marketing their product .. but not their coverage
what a looser tooo.. rclxms.gif

could they share the WiMax facilities ? so the coverage will be nationwide.. not building same tower next to each other... there should be policy or regulation on this. who should act?

this what they should do instead publishing their liar and con in the newspaper and tv everyday. doh.gif

Because the 10Mbps or 20Mbps is not meant for individual consumption, it's shared among subscribers. Imagine 50 people sharing the 10Mbps ... then it becomes reasonable that the speed is not meant for download and streaming ... that's where the quota becomes reasonable.
