iPhone 4 16GB Problem – Screen brightness goes totally off, if you look closely you can still see the app icons. It is NOT a problem with a) Auto-Lock b) Brightness c) Auto-Brightness
I am certain it is the hardware problem, I fix it by : 1) Pressing the Sleep button then 2) Pressing the Home button
After doing so, the screen brightness will come back on.
This does not happen every day but when it happens, it occurs every few seconds.
I brought my mum’s faulty iPhone 4 to Maxis Centre, Customer Service to get it repaired, or hopefully, replaced. It is still under warranty.
Problems I faced with the ONLY technician on duty :
a) He said, “The problem you are facing might seem like a problem, but it is not. I experience this myself everyday, I restart my phone daily. I myself am a fan of Apple, if you use the iPod, MacBook, iPad, you would know what I am talking about.”
b) I took out my iPhone 4 32GB for comparison, he said, “Yes, the hardware is exactly the same, but you cannot compare, because the software is different. This is a problem with the software.”
I said, “I have updated both iPhones to iOS 4.3.3, provided by Apple.”
He replied, “That is not the software.”
I went on and showed him in Settings -> General -> About -> Version.
He said, “That is the version, that is not the software.”
I said, "Then WHAT is the software?"
He did not have an answer, avoided my question and went on saying it is a software problem.
Why does Maxis hire such “technicians” to lie to customers? Naïve customers would be deceived into thinking that it is not Maxis’ responsibility, taking away the customer’s rights for their warranty.
I have more information on the technician on duty but don't feel the need as of now for it to be posted here.
I have already got a replacement on the way. I have already reported his name to senior management. The reason I am posting this here is for the rights of the naive customers who would believe such lies.
If there is a problem with the phone, the technican should try his best to fix it instead of deceiving customers.
Pic attached is the technician who "served" me, his name is Ahmad Buhari. If you ever come across him, no point staying, might as well leave immediately.I am certain it is the hardware problem, I fix it by : 1) Pressing the Sleep button then 2) Pressing the Home button
After doing so, the screen brightness will come back on.
