Hi,

I am new with Android. After searching for the info, find out this OS look great. My friend now using Motorola Milestone, the game & apps was nice. But kinda lag & sluggish a bit. Currently I am using SE Satio, now want to go for Android.

Stated below is the model which is in my mind

*HTC Desire/Samsung Galaxy S/Motorola Milestone XT720 or Droid X

I am searching for a phone which is a good camera, for gaming, responsive & fast. Also can surf internets, do words, excel & emails.

Any responses are higly appreciated.

Thanks.

Added on August 15, 2010, 7:36 amAlso, can recommend any good mobilephone shops which is selling with reasonable prices in Penang?

Thanks

In terms of CPU, the desire, galaxy S and droid X all have 1ghz processors, but all 3 processors are different, in terms of actual CPU performance, the fastest would be the droid X followed by the Galaxy S(but not by much), and then comes the Desire, but in terms of GPU, Galaxy S trashes all the other fones..

so if u want a fone that is good for gaming, then Galaxy S is the best.. and plus, it has a beautiful 4" superAmoled screen..

Desire is also a great fone, but in terms of graphics, it does not excel.. Droid X is not bad as well, and runs 3D games quite well, but Galaxy S is just much better in this area. Btw, if im not mistaken, there is only a CDMA version of droid X, so far havent heard of a GSM droid X being announced yet..

about shops selling these fones in penang, i really dont know, sorry, coz im not from there.. but u can check the garage sales section..

but if u are looking for the Galaxy S, then maxis is selling it for RM1699 with a 1 year contract.

1. Brand:-HTC/Motorola/Samsung.
2. Budget:-none but will go for the cheapest option that meets my requirements
3. Specs:-Wi-fi, expandable memory, OS upgradable to Froyo
4. highly hackable, GPS, smooth e-book/pdf reading, probably no gaming, some emailing, net surfing for information while travelling, Chinese handwriting recognition app

Basically, looking for a phone plus a glorified GPS device in normal use. Smooth e-book/pdf reading and net surfing when I travel and need to search for some info.

as far as i know

XT720 comes in two version

either 550mhz or 728 mzh

asia sets is 550mhz

if u can, get the euro version, 728mhz speed

for the keyboard on the milestone, i reckon u test the keyboard 1st

see if u like it or not

for me, i hate it, so hard to type due to the size of the keyboard + phone itself

doesnt suits my hands well tongue.gif

that will be one heck of a huge device, 5" is freaking huge for a handphone..

but wud be a nice device for web browsing tho.. but personally its too big for me. but still looks like an awesome device..

if u want a big screen android device, the largest available in malaysia wud currently be the samsung galaxy S, 4"screen, and hopefully soon we will get the rumoured HTC ace, 4.3" screen.

Hopefully the Dell streak is reasonably priced in malaysia..Good price + 5" screen would sell well. Don't plan to get galaxy S as its quite expensive ( 2k+ ) If the dell's about RM 1700+ ill grab it biggrin.gif

would be really interesting to see the dell streak in real life tho, hopefully it will arrive soon. Then we will have more choices for android fones, altho the Dell streak would not actually have any direct competitors coz it seems to be in a category of its own.

HTC and Samsung devices can both be easily rooted and have Froyo installed (albeit unofficially). IIRC both Samsung and HTC has promised a Froyo upgrade for most of its devices in 2010. So your choices would be numerous.

I recommend:

If you're tight on money: (RM1k)
HTC Wildfire

If you have some money to spend (RM 1.6K)
HTC Legend

If money is no object (>RM2k)
Nexus One
Samsung Galaxy S
HTC Desire

I do not recommend Motorola devices since they update cycle is so slow, coupled with locked bootloaders that prevents you from loading custom ROMs.

Thanks. I'll check out the Wildfire and Legend. Money is not too tight, but I hate spending when I don't have to. biggrin.gif

If the quality is not too far off the premium models, then I'll get one of those.

since u said money is not too tight, I suggest u actually check out(and test) the premium models as well(especially the desire and galaxy S), so then u can compare, coz there are some key differences between the mid range and the high end fones, like a bigger screen, faster processor, and more RAM... but if u dun really care much abt these stuff, then u can go ahead with the mid range ones.. and also, head over to youtube and watch some reviews of the fones ur interested in, it shud provide with some insights of other ppl..
