Hi All,

i'm currently thinking about buying an android phone (beginner here).

Budget : RM 1,200.00

Considering 3 phones.

- CSL MI300 (RM 1,099.00)
- HTC Wildfire (RM 1,199.00)
- Acer E400 (RM 1,199.00)

Any recommendation for the above phone ?  notworthy.gif

Thanks.
*
If my budget was rm1200, i would actually go for a different fone.. i would go for the HTC legend with DiGi contract rm999, but downside is that the contract is 2 years, u can get a 1 year contract, but the fone will cost more. anyhow, besides the Legend, i would go for the Wildfire, or if u can increase ur budget a little more, then u can try the motorola milestone.

1. Brand:-HTC/Nokia/SE/Apple(iphone).
2. Budget:-below RM1500
3. Specs:-High MP camera,radio,internet(on9),road map,wide screen, music,bluetooth,multi-touch screen.
4. Android/symbrian.

*current phone:-Nokia xpress music 5610.
target:-HTC wildfire / HTC legend / HTC HD2 /HTC HD mini / SE experia x2 or x10/iphone/Nokia x6
working > entertainment
long term usage (high battery life)
high quality resolution / function

which 1 better ? or any suguesstion ?

HTC Aria is coming................ blush.gif
*
first thing is, pls stay away from the Nokia X6, i heard of some bad reviews for that fone..

and with ur budget, i would go for the HTC legend if u want an android fone, HTC HD2 if u want a winmo fone, and iphone is waaaaaaayyyy above ur budget..

or u can also try out the motorola milestone if u want a physical qwerty keyboard, altho their keyboard is not dat great.

Hi all planning to get either a Legend or Wildfire. Need recommendation on which one to get or should I hold out on something better? Thanks!
*
between these 2 fones i would get the Legend because it has a higher resolution screen, and a better(slightly faster) processor. and the aluminium unibody is NICE too..

But if u can top up then why not get the Desire, or the Samsung Galaxy S(altho i heard of battery issues, but still an awesome fone)

Hey guys,

Between Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire, which to choose??
Should I get a new phone now or wait for some time??
*
What is ur purpose of the fone? if u want a fone that is more entertainment centered, then go get the Galaxy S, if not then get the desire(because its slightly cheaper).. but there are pros and cons to each fone..

QUOTE(ohmlawx @ Aug 15 2010, 07:34 AM)
Hi,

I am new with Android. After searching for the info, find out this OS look great. My friend now using Motorola Milestone, the game  & apps was nice. But kinda lag & sluggish a bit. Currently I am using SE Satio, now want to go for Android.

Stated below is the model which is in my mind

*HTC Desire/Samsung Galaxy S/Motorola Milestone XT720 or Droid X

I am searching for a phone which is a good camera, for gaming, responsive & fast. Also can surf internets, do words, excel & emails.

Any responses are higly appreciated.

Thanks.

Added on August 15, 2010, 7:36 amAlso, can recommend any good mobilephone shops which is selling with reasonable prices in Penang?

Thanks
*
In terms of CPU, the desire, galaxy S and droid X all have 1ghz processors, but all 3 processors are different, in terms of actual CPU performance, the fastest would be the droid X followed by the Galaxy S(but not by much), and then comes the Desire, but in terms of GPU, Galaxy S trashes all the other fones..

so if u want a fone that is good for gaming, then Galaxy S is the best.. and plus, it has a beautiful 4" superAmoled screen..

Desire is also a great fone, but in terms of graphics, it does not excel.. Droid X is not bad as well, and runs 3D games quite well, but Galaxy S is just much better in this area. Btw, if im not mistaken, there is only a CDMA version of droid X, so far havent heard of a GSM droid X being announced yet..

about shops selling these fones in penang, i really dont know, sorry, coz im not from there.. but u can check the garage sales section..

but if u are looking for the Galaxy S, then maxis is selling it for RM1699 with a 1 year contract.

Waiting for the dell streak to reach malaysia instead. Hopefully its worth the wait  tongue.gif

that will be one heck of a huge device, 5" is freaking huge for a handphone..

but wud be a nice device for web browsing tho.. but personally its too big for me. but still looks like an awesome device..

if u want a big screen android device, the largest available in malaysia wud currently be the samsung galaxy S, 4"screen, and hopefully soon we will get the rumoured HTC ace, 4.3" screen.

Hopefully the Dell streak is reasonably priced in malaysia..Good price + 5" screen would sell well. Don't plan to get galaxy S as its quite expensive ( 2k+ ) If the dell's about RM 1700+ ill grab it biggrin.gif
*
would be really interesting to see the dell streak in real life tho, hopefully it will arrive soon. Then we will have more choices for android fones, altho the Dell streak would not actually have any direct competitors coz it seems to be in a category of its own.

Thanks. I'll check out the Wildfire and Legend. Money is not too tight, but I hate spending when I don't have to. biggrin.gif

If the quality is not too far off the premium models, then I'll get one of those.
*
since u said money is not too tight, I suggest u actually check out(and test) the premium models as well(especially the desire and galaxy S), so then u can compare, coz there are some key differences between the mid range and the high end fones, like a bigger screen, faster processor, and more RAM... but if u dun really care much abt these stuff, then u can go ahead with the mid range ones.. and also, head over to youtube and watch some reviews of the fones ur interested in, it shud provide with some insights of other ppl..

which is a better android?? milestone with keyboard or the samsung galaxy??
*
u mean Galaxy or Galaxy S, coz theyre different fones, but if u meant Galaxy S then, it is better than the milestone in many ways, but lacks the keyboard..

but if u mean the Galaxy (no S), then the milestone is better..

hi guys, just bought htc hero(rm1k) for my lil bro..surprisingly, i like it drool.gif  so i decided to get 1 for myself 2..

my budget is around 1.5k maybe can rob someone(joking  tongue.gif ) to get around 1.8k

im totally newbie here about smartphone so do enlighten me  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
How bout get the HTC legend, or if u wanna top up to 1.8k+ u can get HTC desire AP set or rm1.9k+- Galaxy S 8gb AP set..

but if u wanna stick to ur budget, i say that the HTC legend is a good and nice fone to use..

2 more fones u can consider- Motorola Milestone and Motorola XT720 (these 2 fones are also good and nice fones, and they both haf larger screen size)
its up to personal preference, i like the feel of the HTC legend, but i like the larger screen size of the Milestone. Therefore, as i said, its personal preference

hey what mid range phone is god that have lots of community support like from the xda forums and here as well. I am considering the acer liquid, milestone, and legend. which would be better?or maybe can suggest me another phone oso? my budget is around 1500-1800
*
I would go for the Legend or the Milestone.. the good thing about the milestone is that it has a physical keyboard and has a bigger screen.. but the legend has a slightly faster CPU, and has a nicer feel to the fone..

i would stay away from the acer liquid, coz i tink it lacks some updates..

if u wanna top up another rm100 from ur budget, u can get an AP set HTC desire or Galaxy S, both of which are great fones.

i wanna buy an android phone for my gf..i have Milestone right now..my range around less than rm1500..any suggestion?wildfire?x10?liquid?
*
if she wants a good camera and big screen, then x10, but if she wants nice solid feel to a fone coupled with a sense UI, then get the HTC legend, if u wanna get a nice fone, and wanna save more money, then get the wildfire. not so sure abt liquid, but, that fone might have problems in the sense of updates.

Looking for an android phone. budget around 1.5k++
I wan something much better than htc wildfire.. was actually considering aria but then found that aria is better than wildfire in very very little ways (processor and resolution).
Do you guys have any suggestion besides Aria?
*
ur budget 1.5k++ (++ until how much?)
if around 1.5k then u can try getting the HTC Legend, its better than both the aria and wildfire.. or u can try the motorola milestone..

but if u want a high end android fone, u would need to at least fork out rm1.8k+

at rm1.8k+ u can get an ap set of Galaxy S, and at rm1.9k+ u can get a htc desire...

in terms of the screen and graphic capability, then nothing beats the Galaxy S, but if u want something tat feels a little more solid and more all round fone, it would be the Desire.. that is if ur budget will extend to 1.8 to 1.9k..

but if not then at ur current budget, u can get the HTC Legend and Motorola Milestone. Both are reallly nice fones.

what do you think of htc hd2 running android?
*
not so sure about that, but if im not mistaken its not very stable yet.. i heard most of the functions are already there, like the market and gps are working, but i think as a whole, im not sure whether its reached the point where its stable enough to run smoothly without any major problems.. i might be wrong tho, coz i havent been very much up to date with the HD2 and android thing lately.

QUOTE(drexar @ Aug 25 2010, 07:53 PM)
so basically the best android phones available in Malaysia are:

- HTC Desire
- Samsung Galxy S
- N1

Are there any newer android phone coming soon?
*
Surely there will be new android phones available in Malaysia. But only problem is when? and what fones?

so far havent heard of any new android fone that has a confirmed date to reach our shores...

im guessing the droid 2 should be coming over with a different name.. and the Desire HD shud be coming over as well, but not confirmed and Desire HD not even launched yet.. so still got some time till it arrives.

so yes, those 3 fones u listed are currently the 3 best android fones available in malaysia..

x10 mini seriously too small.. for budget get the wildfire.. or if u want sumthin better, but cheaper than desire and galaxy S, then get the htc Legend, rm999 with 2 year contract with digi..

Guys i am wondering what actually make desire much superior to galaxy s in the software part? hmm.gif
For example desire is way better in gps, and some people say that samsung might not be updating so frequent on their phone in the future. Any other to add on?
I dislike touchwiz too, but that can be fix by laucherpro, so i guess it is fine? hmm.gif
(not to mention I found that many people say samsung stuffs spoil easily, thats scary doh.gif )
*
the built of the desire is better than the galaxy S and as u said, the GPS issue and the touchwiz issue.. besides that, i say that the galaxy S is superior to the desire because it has a better screen, many times better GPU so that u can play 3D games very very smoothly, and has DiVX codecs, and altho u can download rockplayer to play avi. shows on ur fone, it is still not as good as playing videos on the Galaxy S..

i guess overall, some ppl might say desire is better because of 2 things, built and sense UI..

4. Multitouch

Motorola Milestone... big screen, better resolution, and has physical qwerty
a smaller fone would be the Legend.. but i say that since u want a higher res screen, and want to stay in budget, go for the milestone

for  android which brand and model can last longer in terms of battery?
especially if uses more on 3g/wifi..
*
so far ive only heard of complains about battery life of touch screen fones, doesnt matter if its the desire, or the galaxy S or even the iphone.. all oso dun really haf very good battery life, not so sure about the motorola fones tho.. u can try asking the milestone and milestone xt720 users about their battery life on their thread..
but in terms of capacity, galaxy S has the biggest(but not by much) if im not mistaken.. but yet the battery life on galaxy S has been reported to be not so long lasting.. i guess if u switch off the data connection and wifi and put the screen to lowest brightness, then u will be able to get better battery life for all the fones..
but so far, havent heard of any outstanding battery performance of android fones, or even touch screen fones for that matter.

Brand: any
Budget: below 1k
Specs: must have Android at least 2.1 Eclair, wifi, GPS, decent camera, decent sound, 3.5mm jack

I guess it's the Wildfire?  Any other choices?  What are the major disadvantages of the Wildfire?  How about Samsung Galaxy 5?

Thanks~
*
the galaxy 5 is pretty cheap, but problem would be that not many ppl use it, therefore that fone might have a chance of not being updated.. and plus, the screen is pretty small.. 2.8" is small for a capacitive touch screen..

between these two fones, go for the wildfire.. but if u dont mind a 2 year contract, then go get the HTC legend from DiGi.. rm999 with 2 yr contract. its a better fone compared to these two..

galaxy S vs desire
on maxis 12 month plan.. rm1699 vs rm1499
a rm200 difference.. is the galaxy worth the extra rm200?

the only pros of the galaxy for me is the 0.3" larger screen, true multi-touch (desire is dual touch only) and 16gb built in memory.. other features like wifi-N, hotspot creation, bt3.0 are worthless to me..a big cons is no LED/xenon flash..
*
it depends on what you want in a smartphone.. if gaming is a priority, then galaxy S would be the best because of their GPU which is currently the best out there.. Desire's GPU is kinda sad.. and then also, if u want a more rich display, the Galaxy S has a Super Amoled display with a contrast ratio of 10000:1
and sucky part is really that the camera doesnt have flash.. but the camera on the Galaxy S is better than the one on the Desire..

But gotta give props to Desire for being a solid allround fone, Desire just lacks in the Graphics department (well all snapdragon fones for that matter)..
And Desire's current software is a little more stable than the Galaxy S.. but many new updates are coming out to solve some software issues, and Froyo is coming out this month as well..

So its up to preference.. i say go test both the fones out. it will help u make ur decision..

and another thing.. if ur getting the maxis data plan.. please do not get the 500mb data plan, coz ive read too many cases of superhigh maxis bills just because they exceeded a little pass the 500mb usage.. at least get the 1.5gb one, best is get the 3gb data plan..
