anyone knows how to port in to U mobile at kuching, sarawak? I can't find any service centre here..
*
it seems like Umobile havent penetrate to sabah and sarawak side. even if you port in from service centres in peninsula. You can only use the celcom coverage at sarawak. Just imagine you using celcom with a 018 number tongue.gif

QUOTE(javtan @ Apr 24 2011, 07:12 PM)
Thanks for your reply. But my main concern is that will I still able to use it on the celcom network(RM20 plan) since the coverage is still very spotty. Thanks!!

data is available in celcom network already but its just EDGE and not 3G ...

My cousin just started to use umobile prepaid, as far as i concerned, i am able to online in umobile2g/celcom recently as a postpaid and prepaid users.. it works in n70,iphone, and e5 (which i alrdy observed) but today, my cousin able to online in umobile3G, but when the signal fluctuated to umobile2g, nokia n97 show error in the web browser..saying smth like couldn't perform the action (smth like that) anyone has this issue? are u able to online under umobile2g/celcom in ur nokia phone? Glad if someone could help..coz the CS don't even know we can online under data roaming 2g/celcom.. until when i ask them to see the FAQs only they "ohhh".. >.<

yaya 64kbps is very low leh.. unlimited also like nothing.. =.= but btw, u said this unlimited package is only for mobile but not laptop? (as the normal UB plan is allowing us to online in both mobile and laptop)

hey, i am having both prepaid and postpaid number with umobile.. just few months ago, i totally cant online in celcom/umobile2g.. but after that both of my prepaid n postpaid out of sudden can online in celcom/umobile2g d..hehe.. and that time i also very very curious.. then i clarified with umobile (after dealing with more than 5 CS officers, took very long time and end up get a very confirm answer), we can online under celcom/umobile2g (domestic data roaming) which will deduct from the data allowance allowed (eg minus from ur 300mb), if exceeded, as usual u will be charged 5sen/mb no matter on celcom/umobile2g or UMOBILE3G.. smile.gif

From a staff responded to me in Facebook (Last Confirmation):
Ah Shyuan, Sorry for the confusion. My mistake. I was made to understand that you CAN tether under 2G now. I just checked with the product manager to confirm this.

To summarize;

Postpaid & Prepaid plan - Can do data & tether on 3G & 2G
Postpaid + data plan - Can do data & tether on 3G & 2G
Broadband only plan - Can do data on 3G only, not 2G

Hope this explains.

Cheers!

so far using U prepaid RM28 package. Something i like to share out.
1. Sim will auto connect to UMOBILE3G network
location USJ 21
average speedtest : DL 1 to 1.3Mbps , UL 0.4Mbps

2. I'm trying to network search, got UMOBILE3G, UMOBILE2G, CELCOM, with others like MY Maxis available
when i try to select UMOBILE2G, it say " your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
So when i select CELCOM, it successful registered. Then i can see the home screen got R at signal bar. ( mean network roaming? )

I try to make a voice call - mins deducted from the credit.
sms - should be no problem.

So the summary is : can use CELCOM to make voice call, sms, internet ( data ) failed. ( edited )

So the last question is, U mobile still not able to allow us to see how many data balance from our monthly quota.
even i try to login web portal : http://www.u.com.my/index.php?q=login&acce...online-selfcare
it only show credit balance, and expiry date, not able to see data usage.
Same as *118#, not able to view data usage.

and, amazing that now using 012 ( MNP from hotlink ), using U sim card, but connected to CELCOM network.
