Well the reason why I am looking at a 2003SE is because for now there are only cracks for this version for medical software. FYI, I am a 3rd year medical student in KL. Anyway, yeah, that's the reason. Atom and the 6828 are fine, but without cracks for the 2005ed, buying the programs will be costing me a bomb. I am talking about Skyscape med programs. Pardon me if I am sounding like a pirate...

1) When your main batt is drained, the backup will kick in for 30mins, with the device off.

2) Backup batt will be recharge when normal battery is being charged.

3) Backup battery is whats allowing your Flash ROM to keep all the data when the main one has konk'ed(is that even a word). So technically should that battery run out, so will all your installed data. This is the biggest drawback for this device.

1) no, u can't even switch on or use the device if the main battery gone ! thumbup.gif
the backup battery provides small amount of power to let the device "remember" all the setting, program ONLY . icon_rolleyes.gif

WHOA this forum damn happening lor!

Digilife: Thanks for your reply!

One more question, do you guys feel that the Mini is getting obsolete or do you all feel that the WM5 models is more appealing that there is an attraction to dump the Mini for newer models like the Atom or 6828?

Personally I like the Mini and intend to get one but the only drawback I see apart from the lack of WiFi is that it runs on 2003 SE only wor... Big Brothers and Sisters out there pls advise...Thank You!!!

THe lack of wifi and a lousy camera are the only things I mind about the Mini. Besides that it responds fast and am happy to be using it daily as compared to the newer devices you have mentioned which are a tad too sluggish.

Sure enough, u have to select where to install (storage or storage card) when u install something !

Ok, if u think that it really not enough , try my method !
(make sure u backup all ur data 1st)

1) hard-reset ur MINI
2) follow the step to setup ur mini (including date input)
3) after the menu appears, i mean u can c the START button on the upper right, RESET ur MINI at once.(a small menu stated 'program will install' appears, u must reset u mini)
4) check ur memory, a long long and big storage APPEARS !!

If you ask me, with the availability of storage cards nowadays with insane capacities, its not worth the trouble lar. Just install all your softwares into the storagae card..

Speed of the Storage card is something we all chase after. We used to have discussions of 50X then 70X then 133X/150x. But seriously for this device, it won't matter much as long as you get 40-50X as any higher would result in only minimal speed increases. The higher speed would definetly work for Digital Camera which require highspeed reading and writing.
You want the Best brand? A lot of photo buffs use the Sandisk Extreme 133X which will cost a bomb. Kingston Ultimate 133x is somewhere in that category as well. Biggest? There are 4Gb card going around but no guarantees it will work with the O2 Mini. Cheapest? You have those from Transcend,A-Data which are lower priced compared to the big players but still have the quality to last a while.

Best of all 3? 1 GB cards are pretty affordable nowadays. 1GB From a good brand will probably be around RM100 with a 2GB one slightly more than double that. The better brands are Sandisk,Kingston,Apacer and Transcend to name a few.

P:S Doing big storage will only free up roughly 20MB+ in the STORAGE capacity inside the Mini.
